Pistol squats are my goal for the year! Need to work on ankle mobility but I'll get there. I hurt my knee while doing a multiday hike earlier this year and the physio said my rectus femoris was too weak. I thought, what?? I thought I did a lot of quad exercises at the gym. I've started bodyweight leg exercises and they are great as I feel the muscles I'm trying to work better. Thanks Nikki, these videos are really useful :)
Hey max, just remember quads are four muscles, so if you aren’t working the one you want you won’t get the results you want. Your physio said your rec fem was weak, so you need to keep that hip in extension when you extend the knee, otherwise you’ll be hitting your other three quads . Obviously both great exercises, but this was to expand your horizons, both the BSS and squat are easy to reach the point where just body weight isn’t much of a challenge at all
Great option, the only reason I didn’t include it is because the reverse Nordic achieves the same thing (targeting rectus femoris) so I went with variety rather than essentially doubling up
