All of this video is wrong. This is why roofing gets bad name there’s no 18 inch strip under the metal. I doubt there’s any tar in between the joints of the drip edge and a single ply of cap sheet. Holy crap hope this guy is roofing his own house and not a customers house.

Ruben Cardona... the reason i didn't "throw" more flame is because, as a roofer you have to check for insulation or dried wood under the Z bar on details like this, under that Z bar there was old dried wood , what do you think is going to happen if I "throw" more flame under the Z bar? call the fire department like many companies and my insurance won't let me do torch anymore like many companies that now switched to self adhere membranes
I am doing torch down on a small warehouse i am building in my property for my personal use. i see you use spray paint asphalt primer, my friend gave me a bucket of asphalt primer with a paint brush. which is better ? & also should i put it on thick or lightly ? thanks.
You’re absolutely crazy if you take advice from roofing solutions there isn’t one thing that’s right about this guy’s work it’s trash. I got 40 years in the trade 30 of it in an alpine environment. At 6200 I have single ply roofs sitting on flat roofs in Tahoe for 25 years that aren’t even close to leaking that guy lives in Southern California where they get an inch of water a year and if it’s foggy it’s going to leak This guy needs to go back to Roofing school for quite a while he’s no waterproofer by all means don’t mean to be so harsh I just take a lot of pride in my work and work like this gives roofers a bad name
For one is 3/4 cap nails garentee no shiners especially on 1 inch board and yes that chimney is fucked and bra over fucking over kill on the nails for your drip metal

I wanna how many nails he has in his gravel stop or in his nosing that shit is going to peel right off there’s not enough nails in the base. He was worried about him popping through. All you have to do is get a smaller cap now the nail, the shit out of it
4 mistakes , first one you didn' prymer in off some spots are missing prymer second one you missing alot simplex nails you seams and aroud chimney you slouded use 7/8 simplex nails so they won't should on the soffit over time with all those missing nails is gonna create bubbles ,third you over lapping always you need to cut corner"S on 45 deggre angle helps to seal the seams better,fourth factory tape always need to be remove that tape doesn't let you torch stick on base sheet.

Miguel Godinez ...exactly, this is basic 2 ply torch down roof done over a patio cover that in the next 10 or 12 years will be demolished, who spends thousand of dollars on patio covers? unless is an outdoor luxury!! i have never seen a homeowner that works day to day spent thousand of dollars on a patio cover, some rather "Throw" a blue tarp on top , go to some cities of LA area and Orange county in southern California and you will see what I'm saying. now go to Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, Coto de Caza, and the South of Orange county among the white community area, they have the money to do it the way they want it! I'm in business to make money but also to come out with a "Basic" installation like this that will last 12 to 15 years for a fraction of the high cost that many roofing companies charge, not everyone has thousand or make thousand of dollars a month.
Single ply systems are far cheaper . Sometimes even cheaper than a 4 ply Bur Not all single ply need to be ballasted if it's a fully adhered mechanically fastened system no ballast is required. But then you have to contend with thermal bridging
Astromyxin ...you just said , this is a basic 2 ply torch down roof, the problem before was that water was ponding on the edge of roof and causing leaks, i didn't want to go through the same problem again, i don't use the riser unless is a 3 ply system or the slope is higher, i fix too many water leaks and learned by experience.
You guys did a poor job with the installment. The inspector would fail your job. This should be a youtube video on how not to install touch down roofing system. You guys should also wear gloves when touching hot melted rubber.
How come there’s no 18 inch strip underneath the metal drip edge the drip edge is just sitting on the base sheet. I wonder if the guy even sealed his metal joints on the drip edge lotta crazy roofing going on out there there’s roofers and there’s water proofers.
