Honestly, at least with Death Metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, you can tell they're not trying to pass the gore/violence/rape off as a good thing. It's usually presented moreso as a "horror/terror" thing and in Cannibal Corpse's case, they're very clearly inspired by cheap, B-list horror/slasher movies. Psychosexual is basically what a White Conservative Christian Mom thinks "Goth Music" sounds like.
@Sekačka Obecná Some of the stuff on that channel isn't so bad. Nor is some of it really incelly. Like Sodaboy64 and steakfry are pretty good from what I've listened to so far. But yeah some of that shit is straight trash. UhOhSlater is like nails on a chalkboard and those lyrics have the subtly of an oncoming train. And while I like Negative XP's sound holy shit does his lyrics suck a bag of dicks.
Well, Incel Metal already exists in the shape of Depressive Su*c*d*l Black Metal (DSBM). While not my cup of tea due to its "woe is me, everything s*cks" theme, I won't deny that bands like Shining, Silencer and Lifelover have some musical merit.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Hey! I found the reason why I find this album is called Torch The Faith! Because this album will burn any hope or faith for anything good for this album.
I can at least give nightmares of the decomposed the idea/benefit that it mightve been made as an intentionally shit album to end their record label obligations.
This album is so bad, it's not even worthy of a cringe. Maybe a wince, possibly a groan, but not a full-on cringe. That would be giving it too much power.
No joke though my aunt went to school with Jermey Spencer and still keeps in touch with him today. I had many oppurtiniutes to hang out with them while he was with 5FDP but was always busy. Maybe I can sit down with him and ask him what everyone wants to know. Why?
I saw a video before this and that's the reason I watched this. When I watched the other video I actually found the film clip and lyrics funny. Not in a fun South Park way either. They're SO cringey lol
I swear I will never listen to a single song from this album. The fact that he even calls himself Devil Daddy should tell you everything you need to know. Thank you for the warning. I will avoid this like the plague.
I listened to the whole thing on Pandora and the sad part is there are songs that come close to being decent but Spencer's horrendous vocals kill whatever potential the songs have.
I agree it's childish and horrendous. I'm not defending it by any means, but I wouldn't call it pro rape. I think that he thinks it's about S&M and that he's paying tribute to Alice Cooper by singing about necrophilia and that it's cool and edgy when really it's just stupid. But I wouldn't call it pro rape any more than I would call guns'n'roses pro racist or anti-gay. And I'm in no way comparing those two bands. I'm just commenting on the perceived offensiveness of it by bringing up the band on your shirt like you did
If you hate yourself and money and have a friend you hate even more, gift him the entire discography. He'll feel compelled to listen to it and will feel guilty throwing it away. He won't know what to do!
Listened to Spencer explain the meaning behind each of his songs actually made them seem more juvenile and vapid then they appeared on their own. I’m not surprised he comes from 5FDP, because while that is a better band, Ivan Moody’s lyrics are the epitome of meat-headed frat bro idea of what counts as cool or deep.
I ALSO LISTENED TO THIS ALBUM!! It fealt so hard to get through. THE SONGS WERE LIKE LOVES SONGS CONSTANTLY which was SOMETHING I didn't expect but even if I did I'd hate it. The only song I've ever liked from Psychosexual is Lady Killer but other then that they all suck and some are just boring to listen to. This album is god awful and if I listen to a second of sound off this record again Ill probably have someone make a soap bar made of toxic sulfer so I can rub my eyes with it and bathe in mud. This album sucks. It's NOT Nostalgia Critics The Wall but it's definitely a load alright.
You ever see those videos of someone doing something awesome and cool, then it cuts to the person doing it in reality, looking stupid af? I can't help but feel that's a good representation of this band. Also, to address another thing. I hear the question of what were they thinking doing this in the current era. My issue with that line of thinking is that there's an assumption that this would've passed in any other era. I'm old enough to know that it wouldn't. This sucks no matter what year it is.
Let the Sin Begin is close to "I'm afraid of americans" but I think it matches with "The hearts filthy lesson" waaaaay more.. my listens to David Bowie alot lmao
Anytime I need a good laugh for the day or really for the rest of my life I turn on psycho sinner/psycho sexual. It's so damn bad but never fails to make me chuckle. Especially love on the grave. 🤣
Whether you are a cringe liberal sjw or not and whether or not this was released in a post me too world is almost completely irrelevant to me. This was just simply gross, and very tasteless. The singing sucks, the lyrics are all the same for pretty much every track, and I tend to enjoy a bit of alternative but this fashion of it I just cannot stand! Unfortunately I only like listening to good music, so this doesn’t do much for me.
I looked up one of their videos to see how bad they are (Baby on Fire) and when I clicked out it gave me the "Miniplayer off for videos intended for kids" message. That was more entertaining than the actual song.
I honestly don't care if they sing about torture and abuse. Plenty of bands have done that. Murderdolls, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein (all Lindemann songs are basically about murdering and raping women) and so forth. I still don't see it as anything else than entertainment and for shock value. Now, the problem is that sort of shocking, controversial, wannabe satanic schtick is sooo old news. It just comes off as desperate for attention. "Look at us we're eeeeviiil". I mean, they're not a band that writes music, they're an edgy teenager gasping for a reaction. And paired with the atrocious music and nauseating visuals, it all just comes off as ridiculous. So, the lyrics are the least offensive part about this fucking abomination. The entire package is a dumpsterfire.
@@zakkjeffery7412 Thats not really a factor. There's many many people that finds the aforementioned bands just as terrible as Psychosexual. So, you can't really base the offensiveness of the lyrics with the quality of the music. But I do agree, if the music was good or even decent, the lyrics could be (somewhat) excused.
No joke, i actually tried to find the album to listen to it out of morbid utter curiosity, and because im starting to get bored in quarantine. even though im an introvert and often stay inside the house, and i wasn't able to find this album at all, nothing on RU-vid (obviously) nothing on the Apple store, and not even on Spotify, nothing, the only piece from the album i was able to find is a 30 second demo track on Genius from the song "Let the Sin Begin" imagine your album being so terrible, that not even streaming services allows you to listen to the album, literally the only way to access it is if you pirate it, no joke, and that's honestly laughable to me
@@themetalmeltdownofficial on the contrary, Amazon does sell this album at the moment im writing this, but lets be honest, who the hell wants to pay for this crap LOL
The only thing I disagree with you is........I would not consider this band: Disturbing or Dangerous......most people that listen to this band would most likely make fun of them or would not take them seriously. There are lots of bands that do the " Murder " or " Stalker " thing WAY better....
Lol its like he turned into one of those mothers from the 80's who got up in arms over metal being satanic and being dangerous... fuck me there are much more Disturbing or Dangerous bands out there... ironically he has Mayhem poster in the background, you know the band known for cutting wrists on stage, killing cats, burning churches and stabbing each other...
@@konstantinstepanov5461 I do know, hence why I don't have a Mayhem poster - I'm guessing you're looking at the Gorguts poster, maybe the Voivod one above it?
Bwahaha I thought the same thing about the Feldman song. I couldn't agree with you more I could barely make it through let the sin begin. I'm open to a ton of music. I'd call this a steaming pile of crap but I don't want to insult legit steaming piles of crap
Everything you described as bad pertaining to women are pretty common staples of death metal. And guess what, that’s fine. Death metal is supposed to be repugnant. It’s not the fact that Psychosexual sings about these scenarios that makes them so bad. It’s the fact that the lyrics are written at a 13-year-old level and are cringe as fuck.
To be fair to the lyric thing, some people just try to write the sickest shit they can, if of those people I don’t know for sure, but it could just be a case of that, if so just makes it even more pathetic in truth.
Don't wanna be 'that guy', but they have unfortunately (or, maybe not I guess) chickened out and NOT released Unholy Hymns. But the moment they do, I will ooooon fucking TOP of that shit.
@@martinhroch344 I guess that is something to look forward to, just as long as it doesn't contain any of the questionable messages that Torch the Faith did.
@@amandusbjorklund7935So I checked how the situation is looking, and it seems to me they changed from sleazy and edgy to downright braindead. One of their new songs is pretty much just chanting "I'm a fuckin' devil" over and over again to a country riff. I find hilarious how a grown man can unironically put out something this cavemanishly stupid and be proud of it.
I like provocative albums wheeeeeen it's done with intelligence and skill and a bit of self awareness Looney Toons. SOD comes to mind unfortunately this band makes me want to be a Backstreet Boys fan just to hide from that tired trash
The other thing you failed to mention about why Psychosexual is a terrible band is that Jeremy Spencer is a terrible singer. There's times where he sounds like an even shittier version of Ivan Moody. Plus the music itself is bland and boring with disturbing and laughably bad song writing.
IMO the problem with the lyrics and themes isn't that they are dark or offensive, but how clumsy and underwritten they are. This 'demon stalker' character could be pulled off quite well if given more thought and nuance. Same goes for the music. There are some decent melodies and ideas that I can imagine working in some way, but they are killed stone cold dead by the sloppy instrumentation and paper-thin production. All the problems with this band boil down to the fact that Jeremy Spencer is an amateur who has no clue what he's doing. It's like watching a child play pretend: "Look mommy, I'm Alice Cooper!" Pathetic.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial I actually kinda liked Lady Killer. It reminds me of a metal band called Dymytry that is enormously popular in my country (imagine a mix of post-Gray Slipknot, FFDP and Pain). Maybe check them out, they even have a couple songs in English.
So when songs are about human mutilation, murder, cannibalism ... yeah cool. But a band called Psychosexual in character of Devil sings about "R - word" - BAD! Btw speaking of having sex with corpses, did we forget Rob Zombie, Type O Negative and that A7X song? Look Im not defending their lyrics and their music, in fact I only like 1 of ALL their songs and think rest are quite rubbish and I am not telling you how to feel about them, just dont go - HOW COULD THEY DO THIS MUSIC IN THIS ERA OF METOO MOVEMENT etc... I say - make music about what ever the fuck you want as long as you are not practicing it (im sure Cannibal Corpse dont mash people in the head with hammers and then stretch their intestines around their necks like scarves IRL).
I'm not arguing Cannibal Corpse, Rob Zombie, Avenged Sevenfold and many more haven't written about objectively fucked up stuff. I'm arguing that Psychosexual's insane dedication to their subject matter is troubling, especially when they seem 100% serious about everything they write about. But you are correct in that actions speak louder than words, or in this case, lyrics. Here's hoping I truly am over-reacting, because it would be devastating to see any of what this band writes about being practiced by them.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial I see music as catalyst for some to get their deep fucked up desires out of the way, be that killing self, mutilating others, abusing women etc.. Its kinda like the video game argument, games dont cause violence and generally are not made by violent people...
Lyrics aren't great i agree, but i think you went too far with your critic of it. After all, lyrics of many popular and well respected bands aren't great either if not worse, so i don't see the problem here. It felt like a pop rock record rather than a metal one, the vocals are edited, sounds unnatural but better than some of the autotune stuff i heard, instrumentals are simple but i gotta say that i listened this album 2 times and i enjoyed for what it is, this not the worst band ever as some people say
Unfortunately you've come down with a case of PSYCHOVID-19. I'm sorry but you'll have to quarantine yourself until a new album gets stuck in your head.
Yeah... but how you actually feel about it? But seriously, this is atrocious. How can you go from being in one of the biggest and successful rock bands around, having the funding that struggling artists dream of, along with the resources at your disposal, to this? Kind of a slap in the face to every artist out there.
This is like the 3rd worse metal album for me. It sucks because I loved Jeremy Spencer when he was in Five Finger Death Punch. Sucks that be made that abomination ;-;
People are far too pissy over this album. It's actually pretty dope. The album has some actual pretty killer songs such as Ladykiller, Torch the faith... Baby on fire, & Lips turn blue, isn't too bad either. I strongly believe this band started as a "joke" and as a fun project, and things just grow that way... the exact same way Ghost started. (Ignore what Tobias Forge says, he's a massive liar, that's exactly how Ghost started, as a fun project) You also talk about the lyrics being over the top... what's the overall theme of Metal (whether you like it or not?) ...Satanism & sex. Youknow how many screwd up lyrics Lordi and Slipknot has? Not to mention what's in the music videos... a few examples of lyrics: *Lordi* "Shake the baby, silent" "Naked in my celler" (Don't even get me started on "How to slice a whore") lol *Slipknot* "I want to slit your throat and fk the wound" "I am not a dog, but I'm the one you're dogging" "either live with me or give up any thought you had of being free" This band isn't meant to be taken seriously... Calm down, dude. Also, comparing it to Jeffery Epstein is extremely wrong. Jeffrey Epstein was a paedophile. Point out something pedo like in this album, then I'll give you a point. You are infact an sjw, you say you're not but you bitch just like one. Have you even had sex yet?... it's great. Youknow how many songs talk about sex?... jeez, even most Disney songs talk about love & sex. Get in the real world, dude, we don't live in full on Communism just yet.
This is hands down one of the worst albums of 2020! It’s chocked full of some of the worst nu-metal/alt metal cliques in terms of the instrumentals and production wise. The lyrics are borderline cringe and just feels like parody. I was an alt metal/nu-metal/post-grunge kid back in my tween/early teen years and this is a fucking dumpster fire of a record. I’m giving a 0/10 (it’s worse than the album that G-Eazy released this year). Sam Hunt released the worst album of 2020
I've never liked Jeremy Spencer (and that's coming from a Five Finger Death Punch fan). But when I read some of these lyrics, I began to hate the guy with every fiber of my being.
I personally think the music sucks and he is trying too hard to be shocking with lyrics that are lacking any creativity, but I think you're missing the point. The guy is dressed up like the fucking Devil and you are saying the lyrics are too disgusting. He is supposed to be the Devil. Of course he is going to be gross, misogynistic, and all around inappropriate.
