I remember hereing this song for the first time in my early twenties. I actually cried. So overwhelmed with an amazing emotion that simply couldn't be explained..To this day ,I'm 43, and i still get moved by her music. My grown twin children are huge Tori fans as well.
I'm a guy. I love beer and football. And I'm here to say that Tori Amos is one of the greatest artists of all time. There is more passion and soul in one song than most artists bring in an entire career. Pure genius.
Okay. You know what? I LACK THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE SUCH UNIMAGINABLE POWER TORI AND HER MUSIC EMIT. I shake my head in utter amazement. This piece is so incredible, I'm truly in awe. wow. Thank you Tori. Also, EXCEPTIONAL DRUMMING. I grew up as a drummer/percussionist in my youth, and have a strong admiration for this performance, as I know it's a true craft to sustain such a beat throughout for that long, ....and as many times as performers give concerts. Again, truly purely amazing ability right from the heart performances such as this stem. Thanks also to all of Tori's band, the supporting crew, and the respectful audience. You all make it happen perfectly.
I got into Tori's music at the age of 11. I am now 34. the intro will always give me goose bumps. even after all these years. love you and your music! was an honor to see you perform live!
NuNu Suth same here!! I'm 34 now, she was my female role model for so long. All the things I couldn't express, I could just listen to her. She's amazing.
This was the first song where the emotions and lyrics struck me all at once and the understanding came over me like a flood. One of the most beautiful song I've ever heard.
When she admits in the beginning of this clip, "This song, this song... was the most requested song... ahhhhhh." She makes me sooo in tune with how down to Earth our Tori is. Then she goes on to hit those high notes that makes one think, "Tori, there 'should be' no down to Earth here!!! Honest, strong messages set to an incredible voice." Surreal.
I have never heard a woman musician to touch me so deeply. The energy she is giving off made me pant for breath. Extraordinary woman!!! And mighty song too!
I saw TA 20 years ago in 1992 at Buffalo State College- a small auditorium no more than 400 people - she was just on the brink then - she put out a little album and she blows me away 20 years later. We really don't have a lot of strong female vocalists who sing about these themes - especially the with raw emotion that she has. She is in a league of her own. Truly.
I love beautiful Tori Amos I particularly love the way she vigorously attacks the piano and the fact that she acknowledges the influence of the great Kate Bush.
Tori is just plain awesome ,, her voice gives me chills allways.I have gotten to see her twice in concert. There is so much out of print and singles available in obscure places.I have a "Star Profile" of hers, unauthorized, but an excellet insight into her music and soul.Itis an audio documentary cd, and 2 small books.
few humans can have so many little girls inside herself without being crazy. datura is her garden! she is in touch with so many beautiful otherwordly topics its unchanged over her whole career. hearing her talk makes you feel like your talking or hearing a goddess. my opinon is she is a true og and i love her so much. she plays 2 instruments at once, she is amazing.
Absolutely exraordinary! This song is amazingly cathartic for every one who has ever been slighted as a young person, male or female. C'mon! Growl with Tori! You know what I'm talking about!
My friend who was killed in car accident introduce me to Tori Amos. We are from KY but I was living in Florida @ the time. when I just came home to visit family for a couple of days and friend came to my parents house & told me the news. I was able to attend her wake & that's all which killed me. When I learned Tori had a concert scheduled in Florida. I took my ass by myself & cried in remembrance of my friend. '98
Tori can put on a great show. I also love the size of the venue. Makes for a more intimate setting when you can be that close to her while she performs.
@MrJohnDorion OMG she is amazing. I have seen her perform here in florida several times and let me tell you, she sends chills all over your body. She is so profound and deep. I remember being 13, I discovered her in 1993 when Little earthquakes came out and she still rules my radio, ipod, youtube, any musical device. If you like tori amos. I recomend Bjork and Pj Harvey too!! I hope you enjoy these beautiful voices.
I love how she sings the bridge of the song in this perfect, beautiful and totally misleading head voice, and at 3:57-4:12 she totally lets herself loose. I legit got goosebumps there. :D
I think the reason that she is off the map is because of what she writes. She is not superficial shes on a so much deeper level that many cannot or will not take the time to understand why she writes. For someone to belittle an artist such as her boggles my mind for they have such negativity and have nothing better to do. You dont like her music then fine, dont berate Tori, she has done nothing to wrong you. She is singing from her soul touching thoes who are spiritually connected or otherwise.
