Man I love it when people take care of their yard. Sometimes I see yards that are just beyond help. I cut my lawn every week and take pride in it. I love to take something and make it look nice and neat. Looks like you are the same way. Keep up the good work my man
Hi Joey - in most cases, fertilizer won't make new lawn grow in dead spots. Applying fertilizer, namely organic fertilizer, is designed to build healthy soil that can support healthy turf. If you have a lot of bare spots, the best way to grow grass in there is to apply grass seed and water a lot.
Mine is Armada Turf Type Tall Fescue. It's a little far North here in NWIndiana but it's done very well. The Jonathan Greene stuff is very high quality - should do well for you.
Funny I did your poor man striper. And I just bought the Toro from amazon last week. I paid $96 for it. Wow went up in 6 years. 🤣🤣🤣 I took another tip from you today. I've had this for 3 seasons now, even before Toro bought it from the inventors. I've always done the double striping and it really stands out. You can cut many complex patters with this, not just straight lines. Never had much luck making a cross pattern stand out but contour cuts always look cool. Overall it does a nice job, needs no maintenance. I'm surprised your mulching the lawn, personally I only bag, keeps the thatch away.
yeah the original inventor called his the "Lawn Stryper" As far as mulching, that is exactly what I recommend everyone do. If you have a proper mulching mower/blade that is properly powered and only removing 1/3 of the grass blades on each cut as recommended, then you will have absolutely no problems with the clippings contributing the thatch buildup.
I am watching the video now. I use this product and I am pretty happy with it. The fit was not good for my Honda but it works well. Double fat stripes but I don't repeat or I would be cutting grass for 3hrs.
Thanks for the review. I used to have a home built striper similar to the one in your other video, but was always leery of it getting caught in the blades, and it ended up ripping out of my rubber guard. I ordered the Toro Striper from Amazon yesterday for my Honda mower. Looking forward to getting it! Wish I could share a pic of my yard with you. Not very many people appreciate it the way you would!

also make sure that each time you cut your lawn, cut it in a different direction, by doing that, it helps the grass to stand up straighter, the straighter it stands up, the better growth its gonna get and it and it wont create ruts
Just striped my lawn today for the first time using the toro lawn striping kit. Lots phenomenal. However I want better! Question is do you think adding more weight somehow will increase the lines? Don’t get me wrong it looks good as is. Just looking for more pop. Any tips on how to add more weight? It is full of sand.

nice grass. i would like to put one of my commercial mowers on it. its hard to get the same look with a small mower with all the lines the small wheels leave behind. if you like doing it yourself buy you a good 48'' walk-behind. it will last you 10 years or more and put your lawn over the top.
actually refreshing the stripes will actually cause the grass to become uneven over time, if you're gonna do a double cut, its best that you do a cross cut pattern because by running over the grass in the same direction, both the deck and the stripe roller are pushing the grass blades further over and then its not really cutting it, its trying to flatten it, by crossing over what u previously cut, its not trying to flatten it and it'll better cut whats been missed
Hey Alan - I'm thinking of buying one of these for my 30" Toro Timemaster, but I'm nervous that it will get in the way when I walk. I'm about 6' tall, did you have any issues?
Allyn, this is the first year using milo, do you know a location to buy it cheap $10.99 is the best price I've found so at Dodge Grain in Salem NH. By the way I am dominating my neighbors :) My weapon of choice is a John Deer with a Big League Lawns striper roller.

Nice review. I wonder if this kit fits to my mower. I know it is compatible with most 21" and 22" mower but do this number refer to the size of the blade or somethihg else ? Can you tell me how long is the distance between the handle bars of your mower ? Thank you.
dafunkychild the 21" refers to the width of the cut swath. This unit will fit any 20 or 21" mower. It comes with a few different adjustments to spread for wider bars and such.
Question for u mr lawn care nut. I just got my milorganite 0636 organic nitrogen fertilizer. I applied it to my entire lawn. There are several dead spots on my lawn, I made the dirt loose and applied the fertilizer on those dead spots. Will that help new lawn grow?
I have the Toro lawn striper. this is my first year having it and my Toro personal pace mower has had to go to the shop twice in 30 days because the rear wheels don't propel anymore because the gears in the wheels keep getting stripped. Has this ever happened to you before?
I have a lawn program that I teach - it's in a playlist - it's about 90% organic at this point. I don't have an irrigation system. My lawn was grown from seed and is super resistant to drought and stress.
How if you don't mind me asking do you avoid the mower wheels from leaving a tram line effect? The mower is typically heavier than the roller so even if the roller passes over where the wheels have been a second earlier (I assume the roller is actually as wide as the wheel width) it seems to struggle remove the wheel lines...
I just bought the toro lawn stripping system, filled it all the way with sand, and mowed today and the stripes aren't that vivid. You can barely make them out. I have very healthy Bermuda grass, fertilized nice and green and all but no stripes really. Any comments?

I myself see no need for a striper kit. My lawn boy mulching push mower cuts just as good. Plus, in a few days the lawn grows back and the stripes are gone. You would need to cut the lawn every day to keep the stripes for all week. I have never as of yet cut a checkerboard pattern. They look great, and I am kind of interested in trying it. I cut a few lawns each week and don't have the time to waste on going over a lawn twice or more. Yes I understand it looks great when striped. However I will not get paid more for doing it like that. A home owner that cuts his or her lawn every day with a striper is fine. But if you cut lawns for a living it would be tough. Just a comment.
I gave the Lawn Boy to my church. I mow their lawn each week (they are the 'project lawn') and instead of carting mine over there, I just gave them the Lawn Boy and I use it when I am there.

The Toro Striping System is garbage. I bought it after watching these vids of Alan's a year ago or so and now I wish I went with a different striper. You would think it would fit well and assemble easily on a Toro mower but you'd be wrong. The problems aren't with the roller which is the only decent part. It stripes pretty well. The issues are from the hardware connecting the roller to the mower. It uses plastic teeth to keep the roller position in place behind the mower, but during every mow those plastic teeth move out of position causing you to need to partially disassemble the railings to put them back into place. The hook that drags the roller behind the mower also comes loose every mow. If you'd like to reassemble the striping system every mow, then this is the striper for you. Only got a single season out of it. Haven't bothered with it this season at all because it is such a huge pain and hassle to deal with. Should have bought a different system.
Im starting tomorrow. 1 side of my driveway from scratch and the other side which is larger and has crappy uncared for grass will be overseeded . Im fu#$in* psyched ! my goal is to destroy and of course dominate my neighbor !
