I’ve owned a FW 15 for approx 16 months now. Bought it new. Can honestly say that I have never had issues with the cut quality. I have cut 12”-14” grass quite a few times with it. As long as I sharpen my blades regularly, all is good. I did enjoy the comparison.

@@billybobbob3003 yes, it would have been nice to cut at the same height but the timemaster height increments are a quarter inch difference than the FW15. If the Ferris was set on 3 inches the Timemaster would be either 2.75 or 3.25.

Makes me feel better about my Timemaster. Was starting to have a little bit of buyers remorse, maybe I should have spent a few extra bucks on a commercial mower. But looking at this, I think it will serve my homeowners use case just fine.

@BillyGoatLawnService I wonder if the blade was just dull or needed a better blade. It just doesn't sit well that a commercial mower would leave so many stragglers on heavy grass. As that's the whole point of a bigger more powerful machine.

I Believe By The Color Of The Cut Grass on The Ferris Side Looks To Me As If The Blades Are Not Sharp As You Can See Yellowing .The Ferris Is Not Slicing/Cutting Clean . That Tells Me The Ferris Blades Needs Sharpening. Also The Ferris Is Going Upwards ageist The sun Light As The Time Master Is Cutting Downward So No matter what the stripe Color Will Changes But To Leave Grass Stranglers Bend Grass That Ferris Blades Did Not Slice Clean Off with a 10+HP Motor =-> THAT IS 100% BLADE NEEDS SHARPENING

I had bought the FW15 new in 2020 over the Timemaster ive had it for 2 seasons, and i love it. The motor has great power never had it bog down or struggle to cut. speaking of cut, the cut quility is amazing i bought a mulching kit for it too the second season i used it and its very compatible with that if you hate the side discharge. the only complaint i have is when you have to start the motor, it take a couple pulls to start even when its hot sometimes, so if you have the option to get the electric start, i would advise it. mine is also the fixed wheel version btw and i have no problem with it over the spinning wheels. overall 10/10 mower, worth the price!

After testing both Toro model 21199 vrs the latest Ferris FW15 I can't say you did a fair evaluation. You never showed the blades under either mower before and after. Every test I did with both brands both with exact new blades the Ferris out performed the Toro on cut. On both dry, wet and tall grass. I have never known a Ferris to under perform. I think this is a matter of loyalty and sponsers interferring with an unbiased test.

@@BillyGoatLawnService It could be a number if things. Type of blades, type of grass, shape of belts, pulleys and so on. While I like my Toro I truly love the Ferris. I live in East Texas, we have to deal with all type of tough grass like bahia. But I have never had stagglers with the FW15. I have had to double cut if not triple cut with my Toro if I let the grass get to tall. But I mulch with the Toro so the blades do not have much lift. The FW15 has a deeper deck but the lift volume especially if I use mulching blades will not leave very many stragglers if none at all. You said your FW15 had over 300 hours, perhaps your belt tension has to much slack. Things like that can affect performance.

Surprising results, no question about it. Especially given the enormous price difference between the two.. Here in EU the Timemaster costs around $2000, while the FW15 is around $5000. That being said the Ferris is built as a tank and it will outlast the Timemaster and spend a lot less time at the repair shop. I am really thinking about adding the Timemaster to my little business. Now I'm exclusively on the Honda 21" platform. And although Hondas are great I don't like their lack of power. Given that most of my customers are on a monthly plan, I almost exclusively cut long grass by discharging or collecting and while discharging Honda get clogged relatively easily if the grass is damp or wet. Timemaster with its wider deck and more power, would be a great addition for my first mower while Honda would be used by my helper when we work together.
@BillyGoatLawnService
@BillyGoatLawnService Год назад
You may want to start looking for another mower other than Honda. I heard that Honda is going to stop making lawn mowers. Not sure when. I believe they will continue to make certain engines. The Timemaster are nice mowers for weekly accounts but they tend to clog up cutting wet grass. They do bag fairly well though. We mostly bag the clippings on most of our yards anyway.
@markbrisec3972
@markbrisec3972 Год назад
@@BillyGoatLawnService Yes, Honda is ending a development and sales of the small internal combustion engines cause those will be the first to get banned by governments..But my Honda will mow many many more lawns, I'm sure of it... That being said I love the FW15, you can see it from a mile that it's a robust commercial mower compared to the Timemaster, even compared to Toro's commercial Timemaster (I think its called the Turfmaster)... Of course the price is way too much for my business income. Costing more than $5000 it's starting to play on the level of a decent used zero turn, like Ferris 400S for example, or TORO TimeCutter MX 5075T. Although both of these zero turn mowers are residential, I would really make use of them since I hope I'll be getting few of the larger lots this season. SO the ZT would be operating 3-4 hours a week, which is not too much for the residential grade mower. Unfortunately since our market is very small there are no used zero turn mowers to buy. So if I buy this zero turn I definitely wouldn't have the money to buy the Timemaster, let alone FW15.. Honda would remain the finishing mower.. But if plans of getting larger lawns this season doesn't pan out, then maybe investing into FW15 would significantly help my productivity on the type and size of lawns I'm currently mowing...Then in a year or two that wet dream of my - the shiny zero turn mower, will come true....

HOW MUCH GRASS TO MULCH The best mulching action typically results from cutting only the top 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch of grass blade. This provides short clippings which decompose properly (much more quickly than longer clippings). The ideal cutting height will vary with climate, time of year, and quality of your lawn. We recommend that you experiment with both the cutting height and ground speed until you achieve the best cut. Start with a high cutting height and using progressively lower settings until you find a cutting height that is matched to your mowing conditions and preferences.

Musica with sharply clapping hands.... OMG. Let us hear ourselves think ( Dump the Rap ). I did just buy a Toro 30 inch yesterday, so it's nice to see the performance with the engine often stated to be slightly under powered. Better than the 190cc but at 223cc it still fades on hills and tall grass when mulching . sunny wet and cold outside,. I have to wait to see how mine does on this small property. I couldn't stand that 18" troy built for another summer ( advertised as 21 full inches ), now triple cutting areas of the Lawn will be no more. Number one challenge is cut to hill side out back.
@BillyGoatLawnService

Thanks for commenting! The Timemaster is a awesome mower as long as you know its limitations. We originally had the 190cc model and ended up selling it to upgrade to the 223cc. Sorry about the Rap, some like, some don’t like the music.

Toro has a major design flaw. Grass and dirt accumulate under the plastic shroud covering the pulley system. I cleaned it regularly on my second TM, but it didn’t matter. Both went to the curb in 5 yrs. Motor still ran, the pulley system and spindles just couldn’t take the accumulation of dirt.
@BillyGoatLawnService

I totally agree! I also have to take the plastic shroud off to clean the build up of debris. Sometimes it’s cake up to the point to where the blades won’t engage. Thanks for commenting! I greatly appreciate your feedback.

A better comparison would be the Turfmaster not the Timemaster. The Timemaster is more of a consumer mower. The Turfmaster and Ferris FW15 are commercial mowers. The Timemaster would match well against either over the long haul.

that's surprising how much of a Mohawk the ferris left especially with the high lift blades. very strange because that thing has all the torque in the world. that Honda's net torque is a whopping 17.8 ft-lbs of power to it! compared to the timemaster which has just 10 ft-lbs. a comparison between the ferris and the turfmaster would be really cool but just make sure it's the one with the cv224 kohler engine, which does 11 ft-lbs of torque. or the scag 30 inch mower which has the same cv224 kohler on it.

My 32" Belt drive Bobcat with a 15 horse Kawasaki got totaled by an idiot in traffic. Which forced me to shop for 30" to 32" mowers. I cannot believe how hollow the market is in that size. These 30" mowers with engines so weak they can't dream of pulling a sulky, and even struggle just mowing. So expensive and pathetic. Especially if you're used to a 15 horse Kawasaki PULLING you, then you look at these mowers, lol. Absolutely unacceptable. I just got a 21" honda for light stuff and just take down fences for everything else. Don't waste your money on this underpowered overpriced clown garbage.

Guys guys guys this is a very weak comparison. You are trying to compare a $1500.00 Residential Mower vrs a $3500.00 commercial grade mower. Yes lawncare businesses use the Timemaster 30 over the Turfmaster 1. Prices 2. Personal pace. Of course the Ferris is going to out perform the Timemaster 30. The Ferris has a bigger engine, probably more torque and better rpm. When I saw this show up on my list I had to face palm and shake my head. Perhaps you should compare the Ferris FW15 vrs the Snapper FW15 pro 😉. My question is why didn't you compare the Turfmaster HDX 30 instead? After all it's a commercial made mower. Are you trying to mock Timemaster users? 🤔 IDK, it's just silly to even compare these two.
@BillyGoatLawnService
@BillyGoatLawnService 2 года назад
Thank you for commenting on the video. To be clear, I’m both a big fan of the Timemaster and the FW15. Not really sure if you even watched the entire video or even read the title. This comparison was more from a quality of cut stand point, not so much performance per say. Don’t get me wrong, the FW15 is one beast of a mower. I’m just trying to figure out why a $3500 commercial mower doesn’t have a better or at least the same cut quality as a $1500 residential mower. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.
