Great video guy’s! Very cool test! Would be cool to see the pre and post charge air temps with just a shop fan blowing on the front. I think we may do the same test between the treadstone and the frozen boost one on the s2k to see if it makes the same power with both. Turbos are easy to crank the boost on.
Yall going with the big 91r unit next? Hopefully! Can't wait to see if that's it! Is that the treadstone intercooler the mr bling kit came with? I'm saving up for that kit.
It’s a 5” treadstone and I think the Mr bling kit comes with a 3” but we ran the 3” for two years before switching to this one! We didn’t get to test the 3” bc we no longer have it but I’d imagine it’d be close to the same results as the 5”
I have a boost issue right now, I think the bov is opening during boost and was thinking of measuring the pressure pre and post intercooler. I don't see any signs of belt slippage but that could still be the issue as well. So frustrating.
Yeah on my last turbo setup I had a 6psi wastegate pressure non intercooled. With a cheap eBay cooler it dropped to 1psi and after multiple boost leak tests I realize it was the cooler.
Were you running the same timing between all 3? One big prob, esp on ethanol, is tuners get scared of IAT's hotter than tap water, when really you only need to worry when it can fry an egg. 180F at 190kPa flows the same oxygen into the engine as 110F at 170kPa, so a dirt-cheap core with less restriction (and poor cooling) might actually do even better.
Also this was more about measuring restrictions. We did run no intercooler at one time but intake temps were so high that even having more boost still dropped power.

Right, I got that from the video. I know that there are different variants of each make. Treadstone has the TR11/TR1235/TR1245 models, Holley Frostbite has the FB609/FB603. Just wondering if these are equal comparisons between the brands. They all have different CFM flow rates and HP ratings. I'm looking at the Treadstone for mine, just wondering which you chose to test. Great video.
Lol on my Datsun it went from wastegate pressure of 6psi with no intercooler. And when I installed an ebay cooler it could barely build 1psi. I ended up having to get a boost controller to see more boost. With my 300zx I went ahead with a Kraftworks cooler but it’s too small now I need a bigger core for 600hp.
