The comment below mine says "he didn't even look tired". The commentators said yesterday that this was the fastest Giro ever. Pog rides away EASILY in every stage. He does not enter many early season races. Sound familiar? My great hope is that this is not doping. At first I thought that the great talent just wasn't here but then: fastest Giro ever. Avoiding early season for Lance was often avoiding post race dope checks. Eddy Merckx did not ride away at will. The "cannibal" ground them down. IWhen two riders (Pog & Jonas) easily separate themselves at will from the rest of the field day after day. You gotta wonder!!!

It looks like he is hitting the conditioning hard ,while his main competition is laid up. Playing team tactics against Jumbo in the TDF isn't working, so he will try and make it a 1-on-1 battle.

There is no doubt that this guy is superhuman and good luck to him. I'm reminded of the saying that if something seems to be too good to be true it usually is. I don't for one minute think that there's anything dubious about his achievements but at the same time I can't help believing that things are not as they appear to be on the surface. We have a Giro that has been raced at record speeds and heres a guy who is 10 minutes clear of the field and ridng as though it's only the start rather than the end of a 3 week grand tour.

Can he be that good? He is good, but that good? Everyone else is looking like a weekend biker compared to this guy. Is he really that good? Can anyone really be that good at this level?

Who else was waiting for other GC riders in particular Gareit Thomas and Martinez or even Romain Bardet to put up a show today 😅

And so ends the most tedious giro of recent years. It’s that dichotomy between those who want to see masters if their craft in action, vs those who want to see good competitive racing….. and there’s been precious little of that. Fans of pog will have had a field day; fans of racing, less so.

Pog dominated. Sure! He is fantastic. But, this Giro is a second class field, versus the Tour or Spring monuments. Roglic, Vingegaard, and Evanepoel are the real competition, not G Thomas or Dani Martinez. Pog is an excellent climber, and a darn good sprinter, but he usually does not outclimb Vingegaard, and both Evanepoel and Roglic can ride like Pog. None of those three may be near what they could be for the TDF, due to injury, but we can hope. This year we may still have a great Tour.
