Actually Bobby does fine. Gets pretty high on that vocal and sounds pretty smooth. And he pushes himself. Band sounded great here. Love what they did after with Joseph Williams too, but this was great. Glad they did this live stuff with Kimball before it was too late.
@@skithewhitestuff Couldn't agree more but I know he can't hit those high notes anymore but when he could this was my favorite tune and love listening to this back in the day.
Every musician is unique, Jeff Porcaro was exceptionally gifted, Simon is also one of the very best drummers in the world, and in my opinion he was the best choice as successor. It would have been worse if it had been someone else and worst would have been someone trying to copy Jeffs Style. This was the best possible solution, and we got many great Toto songs and many very good performances because it went this way. There is no reason to say it was not Toto -like anymore. They're still my favs.
Jeff was great for how he played. Simon is more technical and chops oriented and brought HIS flavor to the songs. You can never replace a legend with someone trying to copy his style.
I got to see Luke, Joe Williams, David Paich, Steve Porcaro, David Hungate, Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest in 2015, with Jenny Douglas-Foote and Mabvuto Carpenter as backing vocalists. This lineup’s by no means bad, but I’d personally take the one from 2015 over it.
[Chorus:] You supply the night, baby, I'll supply the love You supply the night, baby, I'll supply the love I see a horseman in the sky, It makes me turn and wonder why I hear the same old fourteen reasons, Must be the changin' of the seasons [Chorus] I met the girl across the sea, She saved my life and came with me A tender night of dark persuasion, Could be my first and last occasion
Nope, because Kimball voice getting worse years after years, you can see in 1:04 too, there is rumour, post production using autotune in Kimbal. Different than Amsterdam live 25th
Einsatzfahrten Österreich -yup! Sklar is an AWESOME bass cat! He’s played on so many great records over the years, with so many great artists - James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Rait ... Lee Sklar is an icon. And he absolutely deserves to be!!
Bobby's not using Autotune on this song . He's not even carrying the chorus , in the early days he did carry the verse and chorus plus it was 2 keys higher. On this clip he was being wise , being conservative with his voice, letting the band handle the chorus/background. Very wise, very professional. It's about staying out trouble and avoid struggling, if you can.
@Mike Conway Seems like you critics of Kimball , listen to Toto as big fans of autotune. Imagine if the band changed its name to autotune. Then you'd try to call them Toto. Hmmm, can't please everybody .
If you poke around on RU-vid, you can find unedited or bootleg clips from this show without autotune, and it will make you thankful for the edited version that was released.
