Holy crap. I remember that pinball game. When I saw the catch/shoot (I don't know the name) beside each flipper, I thought I remembered that. When I saw the center target where you move balls from one side to another, I got a big smile on my face. Wow. This brings back some memories! Thanks for sharing.

Most of them aren't that bad, if you learn the rules and really kind of get to know them. Almost all games have something fun about them that you can enjoy if you WANT to, a lot of people look for reasons not to like something instead of looking for reasons TO like things... that's one of my favorite things about doing videos, getting people more into stuff they might not usually give a second look.

The tree looks great Ron! Back in 1986, I went elk hunting in Heppner Oregon which is a true old west, one horse town. I was a kid, but went into the saloon anyway and nobody cared. They had an old EM pinball machine in there. I think it was a Jubilee or something really similar. I remember it had an odd ball play field. I played the crap out of that thing in that Saloon, breaking the law like a BOSS! There probably was not a law enforcement officer for 100 miles and if there was he would not have cared either as the saloon was the only place in town to get anything to eat. I have often thought about that old EM machine and wonder if it might still be there buried in the backroom of that old saloon in Heppner Oregon.

I think the playfield turned out really well Ron. Like a few other commenters have already mentioned, perhaps putting down a base coat of a lighter shade of green first, then applying the neon green, might make the process easier? Kinda like if you want to make a drastic color change on a wall, using a tinted primer first results in needing fewer finish coats?

One more thing 😁 back in my boat painting days it used to be you had to put down a first coat of really bright white paint be four you applied your neon color. The white wood cover whatever you're going over " say a fiberglass repair "the brighter it was the the brighter the neon wound be 😉 now that could just be the paints I was dealing with at the time but you might try it on a scrap piece 🤔

You can try a smart phone to get a color reference (some apps do this) and then paint a few swatches of your paint mix to see what reads closest to the original. Or just do it by eye, which seems more fun.

@seeburgm100a
@seeburgm100a 5 месяцев назад
This one turned out nice.. did you ever consider putting down a white base before using the neon green? It looks like pretty transparent paint.. also I use a wide selection of brushes for my touchups and a script liner brush with long hairs is really good for dragging those long lines next to black key lines, where the fat little brush you use gets wider and crosses the key lines if you push down too hard..

@jussikuusela7345
@jussikuusela7345 3 года назад
27:50 It probably wouldn't pay off to put a more opaque green paint under, then a few coats of that neon? It appears there also was a white backing paint under the green that imparts some of the vividity to the color.

@katenunyabizness9221
@katenunyabizness9221 3 года назад
She's looking so better thanks to your touch! I suspect the colour fading is more due to the sun's uv rays than nicotine especially as the covered areas are still the original shade. Regarding the cabinet colour, is it white that's aged towards a creamy/buttermilk or did it start as buttery?
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 3 года назад
It has darkened but it was never white, one of the best ways to figure stuff like this out is to look at the flyers of the original games : www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1321&picno=4252 As you can see the flyer is white and the pinball is depicted as a similar color to what it is now.

Hi Ron! Quick question - When doing an initial cleaning on an older playfield, is it better to spray your cleaning solution directly onto the playfield, or onto the cloth/paper towel? I personally lean toward onto the cloth, but I can see some potential advantages to directly onto the playfield, as well (especially for newer playfields... ) What might your opinion be?

I have an addams family that is worn down to the wood. I can get the coloring near perfect but the original is much thicker and I seem to only make it worse with more clear coat above it. Any suggestions?
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 3 года назад
To be honest I'm not sure I could do a newer one like that very well, but the way you're supposed to do it if you absolutely want it perfect, is to paint it, then clear it, then sand the clear. Re clear it, then sand the clear again. Re clear it, and sand the clear again, eventually it will be level. To properly do that though you need to take everything off the field, use sanding blocks to wet sand it, etc. It's just a very complex and involved process that as a business with the low end machines we do it's not practical for us to even attempt to learn how to do all that financially. As a hobbyist though it might be worth it for you to look into.
