Touchless Automatic Car Washes 

I can't believe a detailer just told everyone to use a non-touchless car wash. What a joke

I bought a new black car last year and had a monthly membership with a car wash that had bristles. I had no idea what damage it caused until it was done. Swirls everywhere. My clear coat was so messed up. I finally took it and had a major exterior an interior detail done and thankfully she's back to looking showroom new! Detail guy really gave me a lecture on what car wash to use and what not. First preference was just wash the car myself. Two: Find a good touch-less wash. Cancelled my monthly membership and happy I did. People that can't wash their car at home or apartment, maybe you have family or a friend you can pass a few bucks their way and wash at their place?

I used a touch less car wash for the first time and also because it is way too cold to wash by hand! the salt and snow leave my red car looking really bad! But I was very surprised because the touch less car wash did an awesome job; it is in a nicer area and the car wash facility looks really well kept! So I'm sticking to touch less car washes for the rest of winter. I guess not all touch less car washes have the same results .

I've had that experience and my car is a brand new car. Washed it after having it 2 weeks. The touchless car wash is at my dealer's place and it did such a crappy job. I would prefer to hand wash my car but I live in a condo.

That car wash you went into, (at least where I live) is the bottom barrel car wash. At the very least is will get the road salt off...if you live in snowy areas. Near my work place we have really elaborate touchless systems that wash underneath, and really do a nice job... I go through once a week during the winter. The one in the video is a "gas station" type touchless car wash.

Weird. I have an automatic car wash near my house that is touchless. It is so much more complex than this one. Even black cars come out absolute spot less. The one near my house has 3 foaming soap, prerinse, multiple cycles. clear coat, etc.

I have a black car. I would never take it to a conventional car wash with bristles. I love touchless car washes though, but I use them as a maintenance wash. I wash my car by hand, and I use the touchless in between hand washes so that my car never gets too dirty.

dont use automatic car wash at all. Used a premium wash and still dirty even if it touched the car. Do it yourself or find a good place that does it for you. inspect their work to make sure

My car actually gets cleaned by this, it also depends on the pressure and how many turns the arm goes. My only issue is that it doesn't clean the bottom, reason being removing salt during winter time.

i just got my black car brand new with 4 km , and i went thru touchless wash bay after a month ( first car wash after brand new ) , it came out same dirty as yours, im assuming the dealer didn't do a proper wax job as delivery . what do you guys think ?

I have a great automatic touchless car wash near my house and it's amazing. My car always comes out nice and clean with no problems. I prefer washing my car myself but I live in an apartment so that's not always an opinion. Our car wash does great here though.

Seriously, that was the most basic of automatic car washes I have ever seen, I only go to washer that have the Water Wonder Machine. Best on the market

I wonder if all the touchless systems have the same problems or is it typical just for some of them. I guess it may by just like with the brushes -some are better and some are weaker?

My city has a water ban so washing at home is out of the picture. I do use a self wash bay about a mile from home but bring my own mitts, towels & buckets. Even with that when I get home I still have to do some touch ups. I have a full size pickup and need to use a step stool to reach the middle of the hood and roof so I wax, etc at home. I also clean my wheels & vacuum at home. Those vacs at the car wash are useless and having the doors open just lets the breeze blow all the dirt, etc. in the parking lot back into my vehicle (in my experience).

Thehe touchless carwash around me does a way better job than that one.. Mine has more cycles than that one did so that could be the problem and mine cost $12

Well in middle winter I wish I had one those around hear for me at least gets most salt and junk off but if you use a a self serve bay why would I use that dirty brush that sits on floor and if you go to a brush car wash let scrach hell outta your car you could always do apc rinse eith pump sprayer before wash with touch less go through onr when get home it has some uses if you live in a apartment or some whare caint connect a hose

Spot on. As a professional detailer I can assure you they don't work. First pre-soak is usually acid based detergent, followed by an alkaine based detergent, bad news. Will strip any wax coating instantly and can turn bullbars and external trim white eventually. Use a two bucket method with foam gun and microfibre towel dry to keep your car at it's best.

I usually go through these in the winter, my car is plastidiped and it's pretty good for the price here the cheapest is $5 and its good to go thru every couple days since all that salt and snow. -__-

I've been using touchless carwashes for as long as I remember. I didn't know it was special.

I live in New England can't really wash my car at home in winter.

the best thing you can do if you live in an apartment/area without access to your own hose is take your car to a self service bay with a pressure washer. Bring your own bucket, soap, water, wash mit, detailing spray, wheel cleaner, micro fiber towels, etc. if its coin operated make sure you have at least enough coins to start it twice (my local wash requires 2.50 each time so i bring 5$ in quarters) 1. once youve unpacked all your tools (BEFORE inserting any coins) start by cleaning your wheels and tires (personally i use a spray product to coat my wheels and tires and give them a thorough scrubbing with the foaming brush) Once youre satisfied with the state of your wheels you can then put in enough coins to start the pressure washer on the Rinse setting so you can rinse off your tires and the rest of the car (you want to be quick with this but pay special attention to areas where you see caked on dirt, you want the entire car to be wet and all the caked on dirt gone so keep going around till the timer runs out. 2. grab your wash mit and give the car a thorough top to bottom wash. 3. start up the pressure washer again and give the car a thorough rinse. 4. you can either dry the car with your towels, or you can hit it with detailing spray, or if you have a sealant like Adams Polishes H2O Guard and Gloss you can apply it while the car is wet while you dry. from here i personally prefer driving home to apply wax in the parking lot where i live, but assuming you live in an area where the car wash isnt in particularly high demand you could get away with doing any waxing right there in the stall. If you decide to give this a try be courteous to other people who want to use the wash stalls, try to find a time/day that you can go in when there will always be at least one empty stall so you dont hold up a line.

I go to one like this near my house and its the same idea but it works it puts a sealer, turtle wax, spot free rinse ect.. And i also did what u did and nothing came off from the wax and towel and my car was covered in Canadian salty roads

I guess I am lucky where I am from. my car wash is touchless with wax, wheel polish, weatherproof rinse, and a dryer that gets about 90% of the car dry. my car is my baby and I am always impressed when I'm done for only $7 lol

was gonna mention. this is Esso Gas station (big gas station franchise in Canada).... their car wash I use REGULARLY.... and yes I agree....if your car is as dirty as the accord in the video; then yes you will not clean your vehicle... this specific car wash is meant for maintenance washing...meaning that you FIRST clean your car thoroughly (@ home etc) then with small amounts of dirt...this wash will be more than sufficient..... ALSO.... the blower is key... you gotta go through SLOWLY. thanks

Id do a touchless wash out of desperation if I was about to pick up my date. A touch wash? Never. All you're doing is allowing everyone else's grit to be scrubbed against ur clear coat. Luckily I don't go to carwashes so I dont have this dilemma. Do it at home, in the driveway, with a three bucket system, foam gun, and lambswool mit. Then air dry it in the garage, garage door closed, with a high power leaf blower.

That cost $10??? That was a waste. Usually the ultimate has trifoam, rainx, other things that are special to it. That place is a rip off.

We used to have this Shammy car wash where they had brushes that scrubbed your car AND instead of a shitty blow dryer a couple of guys took some shammy towels and dried your car that way and that was my mom's favorite car wash but for some reason they closed down. And at work we have to wash the trucks by hand every Friday. My boss refuses to use an automatic car wash and I agree 100% with that lmao

The touchless car wash in your area is not even close to as complex to the one in my area. It goes through multiple cycles of prewashes, soaks, foam, clear coat, wax, etc. It cleans my car very good and i live in massachusetts so my car gets very dirty in the winter

Shame I can't wash my own car here in the city I live in, you either have to bring it to a car wash like this or a place that does professional detailing.

dryer job is completely up to the driver. i usually do a full dryer round, back up and do it again (even if theres a car behind me there's always enough room). keep in mind i only use touchless washes during the winter to get rid of excess salt, and i know these suck when it comes to washing to detail... but nonetheless cool vid

my local touch less car wash does the job! especially on winter as i cant wash my cars. atleast it removes salt and underwash it with anti rust. only problem is the dryer doesn't dry it completely... and oh yeah, ultimate wash gives me those colorful and bubble gum smell wax. in your video it was only soap, water and shine guard. that car wash you went is a rip off. hehe

Also i have to ask, Did you even try and contact the owner or attendant of the car wash? We get so frustrated as Car wash owners, attendants, when people go to social media and complain and trash our business for these issues and never even contact us. Bit of advice. ALWAYS contact the owner or attendant. 95% of the time if the facility is well managed you can get your money back or a free wash. I as a Car wash manager always take a complaint of road film serious. I use my over ride card and take the customer into the Self serve and show them how to use the brush to scrub off the road film then I have them pull up to our autos and start up a free wash (usually upgraded to our best wash) and then meet them at the end of the wash to see what they think. 95% of the time they come back and leave satisfied. It's called great customer service. Also when you bring up your concern to the Car wash management then we know there might be a potential problem that may need fixed. We cant fix something if we do not know the issue exists.

I never use a automatic wash unless you want scratches all over ur car . Winter in ohio touch less wash is better then nothing the salt is crazy here ... fuck hand wash in 0 degrees !

the car washes with brushes are laden with dirt from hundreds of previous cars and they'll certainly scratch your topcoat.

I think it depends, this guy went through the dryer fast asf like nothing. Your suppose to do part to part slowly in the dryer. Your gonna have water spots still like any wash but not as much as you. The one I go to has wax and other goodies too and it’s pretty good in my opinion.

i have a hand wash place up the street thats cleans inside and outside perfectly. with tip its just under 20, worth the 20 min wait.

Well, I go to a self service. Use Rinse, Soap, Rinse and then I drive my car in highway so It gets dry when I drive. That makes the car clean and spotless. If I still have marks, I use lubricant spray and clay bar and microfiber and then I wax the car.

hint for those who washes there car at the carwashes by hand high pressure the soap brush first to remove dirt off the brush.

I drive $400-600 beaters. 100% mechanically solid till they rot out but never wash them one time i own them. I have had really nice clean black vehicles in my life and keeping them clean and pretty was a real pain in the ass. my current rides are a 1986 F250XL that was a farmers truck with all the paint lemon pealed and sun baked. paints shot. and a 2005 Grand caravan with 250k miles and silver. both cars never been washed in 2 years.

Thumbs up. also Bring your own to a do it yourself bay and use just the rinse and rinse then fill your buckets and wash it urself. $2 is all it should cost you but you can use their spot free rinse if you dont want water marks

Well then, compare to an express car wash tunnel. Some places have a ceramic coating, Simoniz, and much much more. Touch car washes do better, as long as they are maintained.

Old video, I know. But I'm just seeing it now. You need to take this up with the owners. We have one looks a lot like that one that I use weekly in the winter, mostly for the under spray to rinse out the road salt. It's far from perfect but my car (2015 Audi) comes out mostly clean. A lot cleaner than yours did. Reason I say take it up with the owners is because maybe they're not aware there's a problem (or maybe they don't care...). In my case I found a problem and gave the owner a friendly call to let them know. Turned out to be a Mom & Pop operation who were truly concerned about it, addressed it immediately (leaky overhead fitting dripped on cleaned car) and gave me some coupons for my trouble for a couple free car washes. Those touchless jobs can and should do a better job, and rather than broadcast your blanket condemnation of them, do the right thing and let the owner know first.

That's bad for 10 bucks. My local wash will do 3 soap cycles, the high pressure wash, a clear coat, spot free, and foam polish. I never have much left over, and it gets all the winter salt off. Guess how much... 8 bucks.
