TOUGH LESSON LEARNED AT THE MOTOCROSS TRACK 

The rawness of this, the cursing, the emotion, the facts, the passion …… Chad is a real one!

Mad respect! Such a brutal situation, as fathers we walk that line.

This was so relatable, it felt like Chad was my Dad talking to me.

This made me tear up. Great parenting and life advice! I lost my son in November 2020 and I looked so forward to having these times with him. Great job chad, I have huge respect for you!

I was hard on my son growing up.. Being a single father since he was 8 years old I had too.. But my son now at 19 works 40 to 50 hours a week and is a heavy equipment operator ,, He thanks me everyday for being kind of a hard ass.. So I fully agree with what was said.. Its a hard lesson but the kids will thank you when they get older.. Much appreciated channel..

One thing is forsure. He’ll be thankful for moments like this one day.

This was your best video to date, showed the real struggle parents are having with their kids. I would of given anything for my dad to want to spend all day at the MX track when i was young. Maybe get some of his mates together for a ride day, those days were some of my best memories of being a kid building jumps with your mates and just mucking around for the day.

Legend Chad!!! So many memories came flooding back to me as a kid and my "old man" doing his best to parent me.... now 30 years on I thank my "father" for all he has done for me and the skills/life lessons that he passed on to me that have served me well. When the children are young they step on your feet and learn from their mistakes but when they get older they will step on your hearts so after saying that , your a amazing Dad who gives them the chance to tackle life with guidance most kids these days will never have. We are a dying breed of fathers who try to guide our children like we were told by our fathers but we just have way more cushion because we know how tough it was growing up with parents that wasn't restricted to disciplinary actions. My dad was the same with me with bike racing or playing footy, just hit me right between the eyes and told me only truths. I'm 37 and he still does it now lol Now Its my journey with my kids just starting to ride.

Chad, The point blank way of laying it out for your kids is for sure the best way!!! Straight forward an honest to them. A huge Bravo to you for putting it out there the way you did. I did the same with my son, just let him know how it is, whether they like it or not. There isn't any sugar coating in this world. If you want it you have to work for it and the harder you work for it the more you will succeed.

When you want to compete in any sport. You might think you're training hard putting in 40 hours of practice a week but there's always someone else that's put in more. It's very difficult to claw your way to the top and stay there. This video speaks on so many levels. Chad may seemed to come off harsh but he's behind his kids no matter what. Heck he told Tate if you want to play Fork Knife there's people who make good money at it. But again there's a difference between a player and a professional gamer. Hey Chad, I'm a big fan of yours, I've been watching you ride since you were racing a KX60 at Lakes, Kurri Kurri and Cessnock Motocross Tracks. I just wanted to say that I've been watching alot of the clips that you's put on RU-vid and I noticed a clip with both your son's riding with Hudson Deegan and they all looked to be having fun and even pushing each other to ride faster. What i'm trying to say is get Tate to ask a couple of mate's of his that can ride as good as he can or even better then he ride's to come over and go free ride. As a rider myself with brother's, I've always been alot better rider then my brother's and when we were young I use to hate riding with them because I always had to stop and wait for them so most of the time I'd just ride slow so they could keep up but as soon as I went out with my mate's that could ride as well as me or better that's when I was pushing myself and that's when I learn't what the bike was capeable of and what I was capeable of. When a mate hit a jump we all went and hit it and then someone would do a trick while jumping it we all went and tried bettering each other's tricks and so on. I know Tate like riding with his brother and sister but it'll be good for him to go ride with mate's that will give him the insentive to wanna push himself to be as good or better then the mate's he rides with every now and then, Just a suggestion mate, not trying to tell you what to do anything, I'd just like to see another Reed another Aussie Kickin ass again't the best in the world again.Keep up the good work legend...

Chad, I'm 47 years old and still love to just free ride my dirt bike. My neighbor has 7 acres of land he lets me make my own tracks through. I enjoy finding the new lines to cut in that keeps me excited to get on my bike and ride. 70 acres would be like a dream, of all the single track lines I could make to ride all day on. Riding my dirt bike is what keeps my blood pressure problem in check. Flushes the pipes if you know what I'm saying. Keeps the heart rate up and the blood flowing. Best workout machine ever.

Chad Reed you are so right about kids these days, i never had a video game growing i just had my bmx and a shovel to make tracks. best time in my life.

This is for Tate, what I have learned over the years watching your dad race supercross and outdoors is no matter how much you know the track no matter how many times you have rode the track always take a lap or 2 slow, you never know what the track is going to be like and you don't know what the bike will do. I was in the same shoes as you buddy I didn't take a few laps slow and I ended up in the hospital with a dislocated shoulder. My dad was hard on me just like your dad since that crash that I had I have learned you always need to check out the track no matter what. keep up the hard work Reed family.

Great lesson for any kids out there. Kid/young adults need to learn it takes 100% complete effort if you want to succeed in anything. You get out what you put in.

Chad, you nailed it! One will never reach a goal by just expecting it to happen on its own. It takes drive and ambition. I went through that with my daughter. She was blessed with a talent in her chosen sport as a child and knew in order to watch her grow and meet challenges, she had to get away from the "everyone gets a trophy" stage and move on to travel sports where you had to tow the line or you got nothing. Of course, we had some heart to heart talks when she'd be frustrated and unsure of herself, but perseverance pays off. Now as an adult, she still has instilled in her that drive to reach for goals in her professional business life in order to be successful. I'm so proud of her for the way she still lives by those lessons taught on the field so many years ago. Chad, you're a great dad and Tate will really appreciate all the work when he sees his goals getting within reach.

Man I don’t know if it’s just me but if I had this opportunity in my life growing up and my dad owned a track you’d have to take the bike from underneath me to come off the track and go home. Video games are making todays youth lazy and unmotivated. Not sure if he really knows how fortunate he is having Chad Reed as his dad and the incredible opportunity to get to do what he does most kids and hell adults would kill to be in that situation. When I was growing up there were no tracks around me we had to trail ride and haul our bikes far distances to go to places to even ride for a few hours. Chad man you are spot on in this situation with the damn video game shit it’s ruining the youth of today.

I've been watching Chad since the day he came to the States and this video is why he's a legend and will always be one of the top tier badasses of our sport. The passion and love shown in this video is how he is 24/7 and it's seriously very inspiring. I know this video has been out awhile but I save it for when my kids need motivation and it is all they need to hear. Thank you Chad and your incredible family, your doing more good than you realize.

My best memories as a child was coming home from school and cutting my track in the back yard. No where to ride except the 3/4 acre lot our house was on. We had 2000 acres of wilderness behind our house where I wasn't allowed to ride. With that said our 3/4 acre lot was the world to me and I loved it. I just couldn't believe my parents allowed me to have a dirt bike to begin with. So I squeezed in all the riding time I could regardless of the restrictions my parents put on me. I still ride today at the age of 55 and feel blessed just to see a bike in my garage. Your a strong dad and you have a great kid. Keep up the good parenting my friend.

Way the go Chad, I had struggles with my son but always held a firm line and was honest. Was a single dad and he is an only child. School was a struggle and I could not understand that he didn’t apply himself more. Now in college he found what he likes and brings home b’s and better. And we go ride motorcycles together what a blast he is still my son but also my friend. Your kids will be the same because you are honest and no bullshit

Chad I have always looked up to you through the years. Loved watching you race when I was a kid. I remember we took a pic with you when I was a kid at Atlanta Supercross. My dad loved the fact you took the time to talk to us and were such an awesome dude. This was an amazing moment. You are an awesome Dad.

when i started riding it was almost impossible to find a place to ride without the cops or land owner chasing us off.Couldn't afford to buy land. nice to hear chad school his kids on that.lots of respect for chad reed. great dad and someday his kids will realize that.. i had no father growing up but if i did i wish he would be like chad reed is.

You are a great dad Chad! My dad was the same way as you, hard but fair. That he said and how he raised me until he past away when i was 10years old, that made me who am today at 55. Keep doing what you are doing and your kids will thank you when they get adults.

Thanks for capturing and uploading this one. It's a pretty touchy thing to allow other people to witness, because everyone is going to have their own personal biases to how children should be raised based on their own experiences and emotion's. But it is a deeper, and more raw side to the story that you allow us to see and be apart of. Props to you for doing the best you can as a dad, Chad!

There are no participation trophies in my home either, and I’m going through the same with my son. 3 degree black belt, Nationally ranked and state champion in Taekwondo. 14 years old and has Been competing since he was 5. Very hard now breaking him away from the Xbox to train now. Once high school came things started to change. He still loves the sport but the high level training needed is decreasing. Thank you chad for helping me see that I’m not the only dad going through similar challenges. You are a true legend of the sport. Showing my son this video for sure!

Best video yet! Passion for success blossoms in some kids and has to be nurtured in others. You have 3 privileged children. It’s difficult to create drive when they grow up in the shadow of a successful parent. I was poor growing up with a chip on my shoulder. Riding and racing dirt bikes became my way of proving my ability to be successful. Lack of talent redirected me into business and success followed. My sons grew up privileged but not motivated. Neither dirt bikes or any other physical sports were of any interest. Now, they have graduated college, owe several hundred thousands in student loans and live at home. Playing video games, working part time with no future prospects. Me, I’m 68 and still racing. Don’t let your kids off easy or they will never develop a passion for anything. Even if the chip on their shoulder is you!

So real and I thought Chad handled that perfectly. We can’t force our kids to do something like racing but when the want to set a goal they have the best coach and dad for it. Our kids journey will be different than our own journey. They just have to find it themselves. I say to my kids I’ll support what ever it is they want to do but do it with everything they can give.

I relived when my dad was mad at me and I cried in my helmet and hiding my face. It broke my heart. Tough moments that made me the man I am today.

Mad mad respect. That's a very real RU-vid video with the truth of how it works! I'm very very new to the moto scene with the boy, my experience is four wheels and speedway but geezers it's hard to deal with children who just want to play on technology.

This kind of stuff is why I subscribed to this channel I have a son that says he wants to race but then doesn’t show the effort a lot of times and is why we haven’t raced yet. I think this was a great video of pushing them to ride but not breaking spirit or love to ride

I remember a very similar conversation with my dad, and now looking back he gave me everything, a bike a place to ride it and he did everything he can when I was racing One thing he said that sticks with me is there are others who would love this opportunity, this place to ride and this bike. As a kid I thought he was being harsh but now I can really see what he did and how much effort he went to, glad you are teaching your kids that same lesson that they will too pass onto their kids

Great parent, great rider, and a great man. I think that fun and creativity comes a little later when they completely commit to the sport, but it takes some maturity to put all your time and work into it. Give them some time to figure it out and let their creativity flow into dirt bikes. Love ya Chad!

10 years time kids look back on these conversations and understand how much they helped them. The worst part about motocross is when you realise the most fun you ever had on your bike was those first couple years cruising around on a open grass field. The moment I started racing was the day the fun factor slowly started to go away so make the most of it while you can.
