The trolley is such a great idea. I can see why it brings you joy. I only have a few herbs at the moment. And am yet to make any tinctures etc. I've been drinking nettle tea with my green tea, but I'm finding it hard to get used to certain flavours of others, so your recommendations are very helpful. 🌿🍵

Thank you! Bringing herbs into your everyday life is the best way to start so you are already on a roll! If flavour is an issue on some, fresh fruit brewed up with them can really help add a little sweetness 🌱

This is wonderful. Your joy and enthusiasm is infectious. I actually really love that you include the outtakes because they give a window to your personality, and you seem like such a funny and grounded person. As for working with herbs myself, I am lucky to have a big garden so can grow lots. My favourite though, is the lemon balm which self seeded. Fresh lemon balm tea is one my my greatest pleasures.

I have my own personal apothecary, but it isn’t as neat and put together lol. Mine is in a huge trunk container, and it’s a bit of a hassle to search through to find what I’m looking for. I’ve been wanting to buy a pantry specifically for my apothecary for the longest, but I haven’t gotten it yet. Still on the bucket list. I enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing with us 💕

@@thewisdomwench7908 such a great unfolding of characters. Nick couldn't act his way out of a paper bag (exhibit one: when he gets the unfortunate present), and I liked his wife better as a vet, and that wacky 'relationship' with the other one. I wish they'd gone further with the whole police chief backstory. My favorite was the guy running the underground group who comes back later as a snarky ghost.

I do have a home apothecary and isn't it just so much fun to build it up and collect more herbs? I love it! I do have a question: You mention marigold flowers - is that true marigold or "pot marigold" which is otherwise known as calendula? I grow both in my garden but only use the calendula in my apothecary; never have I tried to use the actual true marigold. Thanks for your information and God bless!
@thewisdomwench7908
@thewisdomwench7908 Год назад
Here (south east england) I've always known the medicinal herb as Calendula, and i knew of Pot Marigold as a flower and it was only last year i learnt i was looking at the same plant, but somehow in my head I had seperated the two!! Thank you for your lovely comments! I also love building my apothecary, I now look at a herb and think "i have just the jar for that!" 🤣
@gtiernan1

@@thewisdomwench7908 since my last comment, I've discovered all the benefits of marigold! I would never have thought to look at it as a medicinal herb, but since your video - I did and now I am drying all my marigolds! LOL

For dry herbs I think plastic is fine but I wouldn’t use for long term. I especially would never use plastics for oils or tinctures.
@thewisdomwench7908
@thewisdomwench7908 Год назад
I only use them with my dry herbs not my tinctures and oils, don't fret! I've been thrifting a lot of jars which is making getting hold of them cheaper and easier too 🌱

I prefer grape seed oil over olive because it has a longer shelf life. It is also cheaper. I also use grain alcohol because I can add water and save money. I also have choice of how strong I want it to be.
@thewisdomwench7908
@thewisdomwench7908 Год назад
I have read a little about grapeseed but its not easy to get a hold of where i am, I chose olive oil mainly for its accessability to me. Also, by grain alchohol is that everclear? because i have heard that used in some of the American herbalist videos i like to watch but that is not really a thing in England (any insight would be greatly appreciated!) I definitely will do some more reading into this, thank you! 🌱✨
@JaniceCrowell
@JaniceCrowell Год назад
@@thewisdomwench7908 yes everclear is a brand of grain alcohol. I buy a cheaper brand. It is 95% alcohol (190 proof) so I can add distilled water to choose how strong I want it. I like it because I can make an elderberry decoction (thereby cooking the elderberries) and then make a tincture from it.

What are “sterilizing tablets?”
@thewisdomwench7908
@thewisdomwench7908 Год назад
The most common traditional ways to steralise glass is through heat, the ones most common tend to be using an oven or a double boiler (which isn't always the easiest thing to use if you have pets or kids running around or if you are busy and can't watch the heat). Sterilising tablets are a way to steralise using cold water, so in some cases they are extremely useful to me, being able to put cold water in a pot with a sterilising tablet and the jar and leave it is great when im busy and can't watch an oven! But they are chemical based, so i am trying to use them sparingly.
