They been stealing cars for years.. a lot of shops and towing companies and muffler shops have a lot of shady shady business in the bay especially Oakland.

Tow company took my Dads Jeep had it for 3 days, and charged $800+ to get it back few yrs ago... this was in CONCORD TOWED from Walnut Creek private property. Didn't have money to fight it.

Its nice that it has to take gross illegal activity for ANYONE at all to consider that even one tow truck company may not be operating in good faith. The damage that many of these operators are responsible for but never held culpable for escapes my ability to find polite words. Everything from petty theft of personal affects to enabling overt fraud with tacit approval of munipalities. Its just disgusting that this is what it takes for any "authority" to consider that a business whose primary function is to take possession of someone else's property might do so almost exclusively for nefarious purposes under suspect conditions is almost unconginable. Why does it always come down to the extremes before we see an investigation? Reminding you that this goes back to the video where a Specialty Towing driver attempting to hook up a car in traffic behind him at a stop light in sf presumably because the driver gave him a dirty look. Tow companies should be one of the most regulated businesses in the country. Not one tow company is 100% legit bc it’s just to easy for them to cheat the system and people
Ontario in Canada did made new rules and nobody with a felony charges can drive a tow truck...... It is a hard time to get a tow truck there now...... just saying.

I say after when this is all said and done this specialty tow companies tow trucks should go up for auction and if they don't sell I do have a vehicle that would crunch those tow trucks like dinky toys.
