People flocked to complain about that show. Granted what i watched was not great. But it was a tool to get some easy views. Didn’t hear nearly anyone talk about the recent second half because it wasn’t in the algorithm to complain about it.

It’s ridiculous that people can’t discuss film opinions with each other any more. Movies are either good or bad in the eyes of the general public and if you disagree they will insult you instead of arguing why they disagree

In general, I’m a little bit nervous that critics and creators like Sean who bring in nuance when talking about film and television on the internet will get lost in the noise at some point. For so many online creators it’s like every piece of media is either something to bow down to or it ruins their childhood. The reality is that the majority of movies and TV to have ever existed don’t fall into either of those extremes. They fall somewhere in the middle. That’s called nuance. But it feels like the more time that passes, the more it is that nuance might not be what is most useful to the majority of people.

I will be honest, the whole Star Wars sequels are so tiring in and of themselves to me, even hearing about them existing makes me feel tired, that's why I'm so quick to go on the defense, even if it's not really warranted. That's why I try to avoid any discussions of Star Wars altogether these days.

I think the stupidest argument people like this use is “you didn’t give it a real chance” or “you wanted to hate it” My parents literally toilet trained me with Star Wars action figures. It’s been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Nobody wanted to have issues with some of the sequels less than I did. Nobody wanted the D+ shows to be great more than I did. I equally can’t stand people who just unquestionably praise every single thing about every single project. It just feels so manufactured.

It is exhausting especially when there are youtubers that are disingenuous with their “reviews”. Pretty much any of them who will 100% always complain about a culture war topic or how much they don’t like the studio behind the film/show. Before even discussing what they don’t like about the product. Honestly this is why I like you and Cody so much because you tell it like it is and if you like it, love it or hate it, you give us that. Those other channels I don’t know how people sit and watch people pump out the same hate bait all day. But different strokes for different folks i guess.

I agree sean love movies and tv and sure the acolyte wasn’t great and I don’t partially like it but as you say on ranking videos this list isn’t the right list just like how certain opinions are right for others but it’s just what your feeling at the time i need to finish acolyte as i dropped i think around episode 3 or 4 can’t remember but I will finish because I love movies

You also can’t please everyone with reviews. The ones that will call you a shill for Disney will tune in for them to hear that you hated it. Which honestly doesn’t make sense because why are you watching someone just to get the same thing piece everyone that hated it will give you. There are also the ones who think dog pilling on something not good is fair but if it’s genuinely not good and in your orbit to review what do they want you to do not review it or lie? Which also makes no sense to me.
