"and hit everything along the way" lol. I'm not sure why that was so funny to me. I'm soon to have a 2002 SR5. I've been watching your videos and they are super helpful even before I can actually touch the vehicle. Thanks, dude!

I know this is an old vid but you mentioned using tundra hose on rear. Any idea what year? I'm assuming first gen tundra? Also the 01-02 has two rear brake hoses, does only the top one need to be extended if using the Tundra hose? I know SRQ has both in their kit but I'd prefer sticking with rubber hoses if possible.
@PhoRunner
@PhoRunner Год назад
Check my rear brake line video. It’s just the one hose in the middle. 2000-2006 tundra hose is the longer one

Just picked up my 96, 4wd w rear diff lock. Im super excited to have some fun w it. One problem, brakes are super squishy/spongy. It has new brake booster and master cyl. brake lines look very cracked and old tho. I really hope swapping the lines out and getting a good bleed fixes it.

Late comment, but IMO all the 3rd gen brakes are squishy, especially compared to 4th and 5th gens. If it's your first 3rd gen you might be surprised. I've had a 98 and currently a 2000, and both had that spongy/squishy feel.
@BobetoSlim
@BobetoSlim 3 года назад
@@plutosforest ya my brakes were really squishy and front rotors were warped. But i replaced the rotors and swapped all the brake lines to SS braided ones, flushed the brake fluid, and feels way more responsive now

Another great, helpful video! I've already purchased those same front brake lines in anticipation of installing them when I do the Tundra brake upgrade on my '98. I just lifted my 2004 Tacoma, and Wheeler's told me I shouldn't get an extended brake line b/c my lift wouldn't be enough to need it (2.25-3.0"). Well, they were wrong, that brake line ended up being pretty sketchy after the lift, so I bought the new one like yours and feel much better now with the extra stretch. I will say, on my Tacoma, that top part of the line runs over to the driver side frame, and there is all kinds of junk up in there (rear locking diff mechanisms, etc.), and it was nearly impossible to get my flare nut wrench up there. But, of course, the nut was stuck, leading to all kinds of fun. Regardless, thanks, again, for the great clear video and tips!

Hello. I have a 2002 that I’m replacing the lines on. I was wondering if I need to have the key turned over when taking off the lines off or just when I go to bleed them? Thank you
@jacktran960

I installed SS lines on my TSX and it makes a difference even on light to medium braking pressure. Ik it's not bad pads or air in the lines since I've already bled the car and replaced the pads and rotors 8k miles ago.

Thanks for the vid very helpful. Got a question...so you by chance know how long your new lines were? I tried to replace my original fronts with what the parts house locally had for my car, they were shorter. My "stock" ones are about 12", is that about the length? The rear one is definitely longer so that is not a problem

What was the purpose of replacing the two front brake lines?
@PhoRunner

The lines are longer for lifted vehicles I believe and a firmer brake pedal due to metal lines instead of rubber.

hey question, do you know if the 2001 RWD motor is a direct drop in- into a 2002 AWD model? I may purchase a 2002 AWD shell, but will need to swap the motor from the 2001 RWD into it. i just dont know if its a direct drop in or if i'll need to change different things on it.
