Note: if you’ve done the Tundra steering rack swap, you may run into an issue where the passenger side middle support conflicts with the bolt for the steering rack. Removing a bit of the support (1/2” deep by 1” wide) will remedy this without significantly weakening the support (if at all).

It appears that the rear skid is not installed correctly in this video. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I just used this video to install my skids and it seemed odd that the rear skid laid on top of the front skid as it creates a lip that will hook on rocks and other things you'd want it to "skid" over. The photos on the cbi website, and other videos I'm seeing including one from runnin4tacos show the front skid overlapping the rear skid, which makes more sense.

Agree. I installed the rear bracket then front skid and slipped the rear skid behind the front skid to overlap front to back. It worked with no problem and fit beautifully. I just left enough play in the rear bolts of the front skid to slide the rear skid in place. Once the 3/8 carriage bolts went in that held the rear skid in place for the rest of the bolts moving backwards. The 3/8 x 4 inch through frame carriage bolt on the driver side was a pain. It lands right near the Cat and there is nearly zero room to work. Same with the front through frame 1/2 carriage bolt on the driver side. The kit come with washers in for all the CBI nuts, but I don't see this mechanic using any washers. I would have loved to keep the radator guard. I read somewhere it is used to protect the radator and also force air throught the radator.

Super cool - it would be awesome if you had a trans skid plate that was cut to integrate into the stock TRD Pro skid plate. I don't want to lose my TRD skid.

My kit was missing the 3/8" short carriage bolts and the 3/8" strut washers.

I wonder if since the 2010 to 2020 4runner are on the same chassis if they will work on my 2012 fj cruiser

KDSS, 2' lift having issues with the front sway bar..treaty oak space adapter OR DR.KDSS sway bar adapter plates (tried both) my sway bar essentially sits on the skid when the valve is open and my passenger tire is on a vehicle ramp. So if ever in motion with the front passenger tire moving higher than the driver side and at a slowish speed it starts to carve into the actual skid. Any solutions?

Did you ever find a solution for this? Debating getting Dr KDSS front adapter plates but want to ensure it won’t mess up adding aftermarket skids later on

@@MrGuitar808 should be fine with the Dr. KDSS products (bushing brackets & adapter plates) with the CBI skids.

From what I've seen it's 50 lbs lighter than the aluminum one! Which I think it's because the steel plates are thinner than the aluminum ones. 180lbs for aluminum complete kit and 130lbs steel complete kit. Based on what I've found online I could be mistaken.

@@jaimegarcia213 That's not correct. On the CBI site it says their aluminum plates are about half the weight of their steel plates. But I can't find anything on their site that says what the weight of either is. The typical weight for a set of 3 steel skid plates for a 4Runner is about 150 pounds. Steel rock sliders are about 100 pounds. I have both on order for a 2018 4Runner Limited I've recently purchased. But when they're installed I will lose the running boards (50 pounds) and whatever the Toyota plates that will come off weigh, which I'd guess isn't more than 20 or 30 pounds. So overall I think I'm basically adding the weight of a normal adult male passenger, maybe 175 pounds, to the vehicle.

I have full steel skids/gas tank skid and sliders and it added around 400lbs
