Man i like that accelerator tool, like why didt i think of that seen that kinda thing on door closers a million times im a dummy Lol.. good clarification re solinoids being electro magnets attracting metal particles and the need for drain pan magnets and ofcourse regular oil changes so the magnets can protect the solenoids. , the low voltage testing makes sense also like you said if the solenoids work at low voltage theyre going to work at battery voltage in the vehicle. so mineral is thicker than synthetic?. i reckon trans coolers may keep the oil a tiny bit thicker also , i like the slightly thicker oil tip for older transmissions and airated oil via over filling now i see why you get your levels perfect, in my earlier days id overfill but only a fraction.

Hey mate, I’ll give you a call tomorrow. I replaced all 4 solenoids after error 62 (solenoid #1). The error came on when driving uphill with Over drive on (wouldn’t shift down). But was fine when took the OD off. After replacing the solonoids. I still appear to be taking off in 2nd it won’t shift down to L But will do it fine when I do it manually. It also won’t move on a steep uphill in drive. Change it manually to L and it moves. Any thoughts? Rebuild - new used tranny?

Great help..Did demagnetized the solenoids, cleaned the transmission filter (ordered a new one from Japan via local Toyota agents as they don't stock them here in sri lanka about AU$140) Put it back with Toyota D2 and it runs like brand new. The solenoids are about AU$300 each in sri lanka. Are they that expensive elsewhere?

Very interesting from Ak, NZ. Pays to change ATF and filter often?

hi, you have to clean trans pan and magnets, otherwise the fine metallic debris ( which is suspended in the trans fluid ) will get attracted to, and stuck in solenoids and will contaminate solenoids and cause you problems. basically the cooler and cleaner you keep a trans, the longer it will last ( rubber seals and o`rings will crystalise and harden with heat ). a filter service every 50,000km when it has done less than 150,00km, then every 30,000km over that should make it last alot longer. an oil/fluid change without removing trans pan is completely useless in my experience. if the fluid is so contaminated and dirty, a magic oil change on its own will not help much. problem is people compare it to an engine oil service, where the engine oil acts like a filter and also absorbs the carbon and needs to be changed frequently. a differential, transfer case, power steering do not have any filtering system, so the naturally and normally produced metallic debris is suspended in the oil and will act much same as liquid sandpaper.....add magnets to everything and your wallet will thank you ( just remember to clean magnets frequently or they stop working and collecting the rubbish ) cheers

@@YepThatsIt g'day mate just had my Falcon au2 trans oil replaced 330000 kms, (changed twice before) pan filter, last time I think I had one leaky solenoid cleaned, but as for magnets in the bottom of the pan, I guess they all come out with them in as standard ? Now just need to convince my two girls to have their Suzuki Swifts CVT transmission oils changed more often than the book tells them.
@YepThatsIt
@YepThatsIt 5 лет назад
be a good dad and organise services, cvt and dct/dsg transmissions are a really dirty transmission that will contaminate the solenoids/sensors that control the pressures and shifts. not real cheap to fix either. cheers

Look to buy an 80, current owner says trans is slipping from 2nd to 3rd but doesn’t have the flashing O/D. Could it be the solenoids? Or full rebuild

Great Videos.. Subscribed. I had some transmission issues on my 2006 100 with 150,000kms. During cold starts (25C) transmission wasn't moving from 2nd to 3rd till 5 min. Here in sri lanka coldest we get is 25C and hottest 31C 365 days a year. I cleaned up my really dirty Throttle body and MAF sensor and seems to have fixed the transmission issue. Is this possible? I have bit too much transmission liquid which is yet to be taken out. I am thinking of opening her up and do a solenoid flush. Any pointers?
@YepThatsIt
@YepThatsIt 4 года назад
hi, if you have too much fluid and when fluid warms up & expands it will hit the internal spinning components and aerate the fluid - not good as air can be compressed & fluid can`t be so it would be like having not enough fluid to a point. it would also sound like you may have blocked filter and or a gummed up/sticky solenoid, when fluid warms up and thins out passes through passages quicker and easier....also metals expand a bit when they are warmed up. always start with basic checks and work you way up. cheers

Hello, I'm from Libya, and I use Google translator to communicate with you. My car is Land Cruiser, Jeep, 1993 model. The gearbox is automatic, and it is clean. Suddenly the car does not go forward or backward, unless you turn on heavy four-wheel drive. What is the reason for this problem in your opinion? Thank you.
