thank you my dude, just got a 4runner and had 4x4 not engaging turns out it was the hoses were switched, i switched them back and its working now thank you.
@@alltsab sir maybe you can help me out my 5speed manual seems like my gears cut to short like in first gear it only goes up to 10 miles per hour is it anything i can be a wear off or i can look out thanks
4runner 2001 no longer uses vacuum to activate 4wd as it is fully electronic. But thanks for the idea for troubleshooting! Will look into selenoids to continue troubleshooting
@@dsa420meh7 because there's a diaphragm that operates it, so if u put pressure to one side it will push it and thr same of u put pressure to the other side, but when working in the truck it's vaccume pulling on the diaphragm
Hello from mexico Sr! I have a problem with my 4runner 4wd limited 96. Automatic transmission. the 4wd does not disengage, the car only moves if it is in 4L or 4H if I put the 4wd transfer in Neutral, the 2WD doesnt work and it does not move in reverse or drive and the red light comes on of the A/T P in the cluster. can you help me? Im going to try check the vacum lines but could you help me! Probably you had the same problem before! I really apreciate your help and expirience!
If your 4runner have engine light use obd2 to scan for code to fix it. It's sound like bad transmission but not sure why when you put in 4wd it can move but not 2wd. First thing is scan for code then fix the code problem. Can not be blindfold to fix car doesn't work that way always scan for code to do troubleshooting ok.
I will try this out I have the same problem I believe it’s the same j shift and the 4x4 light doesn’t go on and 4x4 doesn’t engage . Thank you for the video will let you know if this is the problem. Do you have a way to message you besides the comments if I have further questions ?
Thank you for the amazing video. I just got a new 98 4runner. The 4WD would engage (solid green light) but to disengage after pressing the button the green light stay solid nothing happens right away but later after driving awhile there would be a BIG bang (shakes the car) and it disengages. Any recommendation on what to test?

Do you know how to repair 4WD Hi blinking light in 2004 Tundra? The 4WD engages and disengages, it is when disengaging that it stays blinking. I appreciate any information and advice. Thanks and great video, too.
@@alltsab thanks for getting back to me so soon. The brown solenoide is not working when I apply 12v but I get suction on the nipple..does that sound right? Will the light come on if the solenoid is not working?
I have an 06 4runner and my 4wd is stuck even tho it's on 2wd.. What could be the issue.. My 4hi and 4lo works but when I put it back to 2wd my 4wd don't get disengage.
Hi, you, did you solve your problem? I have de same problem on my 4runner 96 4WD limited . Moves in 4L and 4H but when i put it back in neutral, the lights ATP comes on into the cluster and wont move in 2WD!
I have a problem with my 04 tundra.. the hi 4wd works and light come on but the low 4wd don't work.. no light or engage in low 4wd... any help would be great
I'm not sure but check your sensor on low drive because the way you mentioned no light on low gear. If sensor doesn't work it won't engaged. If you have a friend have the same tundra swap his sensor to your to see it work ok. Please help subscribe thanks

@@alltsab just one more question sir does engaging and dis engaging the 4WD has anything to do with 4wd indecator lamp or sensor missing ? Or its just the brown and blue solenoids that controls the engaging ?
@@alltsab thanks,my 07 tocoma goes into 4 wheel drive but to take it out I have to shut the truck off turn the switch off then when I turn it back on it disengages. Anything you can think I should check?
