Toyota Auris 1.6RS MMT review 

The "N" happened twice to us already. Apparently a bush or something by the gear selector.

Yeah I think the car we have is actually failing. It keeps disengaging the gears. I had a look online and apparently its a relatively common problem...which makes the having the car totally redundant.@@AndreRmemories

Hi, i have the same problem with my auris, how did you get yours fixed ?

Car was taken to toyota and a bush was replaced in the gearbox at the gear selector or something like that. But broke twise and might go again as there is again a knocking sound again when selecting to third. So looks like a common problem.

Manual will be the safest option. Overall a good car

To preserve would be more to just drive it auto en refrain from driving it "manual" or sport. The problem is not the gearbox but the clutch actuators (selecting gears) that fails and is the issue with some models.

The gearbox is like R30k. Its a 50 50 chance. Either it works or you have problems. Personally i would stay clear or take out a 2 year warranty that you know that it will cover to fix that problem if it happens. If you want auto i would recommend going for the advanced auto box but dont think the auris comes out in that gearbox. We traded our auris and baught the Toy quest 1.6 and i love that box. Must still do a review when i get the time.

Yea its a clutch actuator in the gearbox that gives in. Then it goes into neutral and cant drive it. Happened already 2 times. Once with my mom and other time left me stranded in a dodgy dark spot. Its a common problem in the o8 an up moddels so thats why i hate the mmt gearboxes.

Both times we took the car to Toyota and they did a non pricey fix but they said they could not guarantee how long it will last. Year 8 months later again. So they fixed it again but we nursing the car and not driving hard at all. They said replace the gearbox. But i would take the car to toyota itself as they not so expensive anymore like years back.

first off it reved like mad? well you must remember the harder you press the accelerator the longer it will stay in that gear before it shift. so if you drive and say hit 3000rpm just lift foot off accelerator and it will shift like you would do in a manual. our car normally start to get a knock sound when shifting. The actuator is responsible for shifting. Ours did it between gear 2 and 3. The chance is a 50/50 as the corolla mmt that we had had no problems at all.

@@AndreRmemories lol yup revved like mad. Maybe the guy couldn’t drive. (I didnt drive it. First car lol) ill listen out for that knocking sound

Yes thats the sports mode. Will change the gears faster etc.

@@AndreRmemories thanks for answer, so it changes gear by itself also when it is in MM-T? Or do i have to use the paddle skifter?

When driving in auto(mm-t) or with paddels the shift will be faster. Then also in auto it will stay longer in gear when releasing the gass to keep you in powerband before shifting to a higher gear if it figures you not going to the gass again

Some mmt boxes are problematic so its a 50/50

We use 95 octane, depends where u from

@@nikolanikola8543 just dont get the mmt gearbox model as those gearboxes give problems. Full auto or manual best route. Overall awesome cars

@@AndreRmemories Yeah I know... I already had serious problems with automated-manual on my Smart Fortwo... Never buying those gearboxes again! I need a bigger and very reliable car now!

@@nikolanikola8543 yea only problem we have is that gearbox other than that no issues. So full auto or manual for me now
