I believe that diesel hybrid engines like in toyota tundra iforce maxx system with 1 ton truck with better towing capabilities would be a fantastic vehicle. I know I would love one!
My 1999 VW diesel gets 51mpg on the highway & 46 around town. There is a smaller version of this motor that was sold in South America that beat that by about 20mpg. Government regulations have tanked these wonderful options. It's about time someone built a good little diesel again.
