This video saved me a ton of $$$. I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander and the radio simply stopped working one day. The Toyota dealer gave me an estimate of $1200 to fix it; a Best Buy tech wanted $100 bucks an hour just to diagnose the issue. I ended up buying the radio from ebay for $150, plus the tools to take apart the dash. I would've never even thought of it if it wasn't for the video. Thanks!!!
Mines a 2013 aswell and I’m pretty sure it has a short in the wiring some where cuz the radio hardly works once in a while it’ll come on then short out
Great video. No long narratives about thier kids grades or how the trees in thier yard was bearing fruit etc... very professional and simple. Thank you tha k you thank you.
You omitted one very important step at the end...if that's the factory base model radio, you carry it to the nearest trash can and drop it in. Followed by the installation of an actual radio. Well known problem to the owners of these Highlanders...the factory radio is a major POS! As was mine. Thanks for the great and detailed tutorial.
My 2 cars have the 2 worst radios ever made. This one, and a 10-15 year old Kenwood that a shop talked us into- I was always a Pioneer fan. After all this time, I still don’t know how to do anything on that Kenwood except for change the radio station or turn up the volume unless I pull out the instruction booklet. Last Kenwood I ever buy. I go back-and-forth on which of these radios is the worse.
I know this video is a few years old but I figured I would ask - I need help with my 08 Highlander where I think im experiencing a ground loop issue, the radio squeals at an extremely high pitch, sometimes only the right side speakers will play and then this squealing will occur, the squeal may be related to accelerating the vehicle - and sometimes there is no issue at all with the radio working normally, when the squeal occurs I cannot turn the radio off or change settings and need to turn the entire car off/on again, this occurs with AUX, CD and radio use, my stereo is completely stock and has not had any work done - an electrician friend says he believes a wire must be loose in the wiring harness, do yall have any input before I start tearing my car or my hair apart? Thanks for the video!
Very Very Very helpful! Thank you! Good lord, I've searched high and low for instructions or a video for exactly this. Thank you so much. Also, someone heavy breathing in the background. lol. Must really like car repair porn.
