We put the all-new Toyota Hilux AT38 and Toyota Hilux AT44 from Arctic Trucks to the test on the snow and ice in Iceland. Arctic Trucks is world renowned for its modifications to pickup trucks, and we put its products through their paces on home turf in Iceland.
The Toyota Hilux AT44 was built specially-built for an expedition to Greenland, and had only returned the month previously. Fast forward to 7:28 for the vehicle specifications.

I remember seeing these in Stacy David's GEARS show. I have a Toyota straight axle. When it matures I'll aee what they can do with 1985 LCE Powered Trailgear trans and 7:1 teansfer case. But instead of a 4 core Heater. A AC unit would be really nice. Two more years I'll have going off roading and dirt biking for 60 years. Seems like just last month that was watching Malcolm Smith race in Perris California.

Not surprised of it. We need as well infrared sensors all around to see under water what is happening at least 15m ahead. This system will prevent the car to hit any big rocks or anything hidden. That’s what the new land rover defender claims to have!! Also more safety needed for the passenger as this car have not good crash test!!for example the roof is so soft, that can bend like paper!!

Size: LT475/70 R17 Tread depth: 18 mm Diameter: 1100 mm. So, the tire's diameter is 110 cm, which means the radius is just 55 cm. The ground clearance of the vehicle should be around.... half a meter!

There's so much work done by the team at Arctic Trucks there there'd be little difference in ability. However, the Icelandic guys tend to favour the Toyota for reliability reasons.

Arctic trucks have developed their design to ceep the body low as possible with 37-44" to lower the centre of gravity. It makes it undriveable when raised too much and you gain nothing off road
