When I was completing the lower pan change last time, I noticed that there was still a good bit of oil left in the pan. So during this oil change I decided to suction out what remained after draining. I you can see I waited until it was down to drips. After suctioning, there was about half a quart of oil that was still in the pan. When you think that this engine only requires 4 quarts during an oil change that a lot of dirty oil. I will be doing this to each time I service this type of pan. It is kind of crazy how the engineers thought it would be fine to allow this much used oil to remain.

This is a 2012 Venza, but it applies to many models with this type of pan.
