Unfortunately this did not work. I dont understand how this doesn't call for a lawsuit or a recall considering its there base model radio thats faulty across multipal lines of vehicles
I'll add my thanks, was frustrated after receiving vehicle after a cosmetic repair. it was doing the same thing and when i informed the shop the threw up their hands. they disconnected the battery and connected it. After searching the internet, I came across this video and it saved me days of aggravation. I gave it a thumbs up and subscribed.
It’s fixed mine too!!! My 2021 Highlander was standing in a garage for three weeks and this happened. Thank you so much!!! You saved me a lot of money!
This happened to me the other day, no notice, no maintenance, just hadn't driven the car in a few days. Your workaround worked like a charm. Thank you so much.
@@tyler114050 Thank you, but I did not mean notice as an official notice or recall notice. I mean that the vehicle had no indications of anything wrong prior to this happening. Nor had I recently had any maintenance performce that might have inadvertently caused the radio to malfunction.
WORKED. 2019 Rav4. Hope it sticks.. Turn on ignition position 2 (don't start engine), put it in reverse, go to ignition position 1. You'll only see the backup camera displayed. Park brake will be on so don't worry. Leave it in reverse for 10 mins, put in park, turn off ignition, hopefully it boots normally. I also deleted all personal settings just to give her a new start in life. PS- hope it sticks.
Worked on a 2019 Rav4 Adventure. Radio kept rebooting after battery change. Keeping it for 5 minutes in "Reverse" then restarting the car worked like a charm. Thanks!
Thank you for this info. I didn't my drive Rav4 for almost 4 weeks and infotainment sys was in the reboot mode. Your solution worked on the first try after others had failed. This is very much appreciated and I wonder how much a dealer would have charged me to fix this prob.
I don't know if they even know about this. They would probably replace the radio which can be over $5k i work at a dealer i try this first before replacing radio. This is a known issue on toyota
Thank you Brother… Funciona..! 13 minutos en reversa con el (sistema encendido - motor apagado). Regresas a 🅿️ark, apagas el vehículo por completo (2 minutos), luego enciendes nuevamente y problema resuelto… 👍🏽 2023 TOYOTA RAV-4 / Hybrid
Thank you! Mine was cutting in/out after repair from a deer. I couldn’t get it to go in reverse in accessory mode but tried it with it on and holding the break for the 5 min. All good now!
Turn car ON. Put parking brake on. Put on reverse gear. Wait for 5 + min. Put gear on parking. Radio etc all will come back normal.set auto update software. Simple 😂
@@dominickcrescenzo7377 most likely not this is for the newer highlander camry and rav 4 where there is issue of radio keep rebooting and won't go onto the home page
I have a 2023 rav4 xle and I cant even try this, my radio reboots every 5 seconds or so. I broght it to toyota and they say they are performing a "reset" to the radio.
I have a 2023 rav4 xle. Same issue. I can't even try this cause the radio reboots every 5 seconds. I brought it to toyota and they say they are performing a "reset" to the radio.
I have the same issue on my 2018 highlander. They did update and changed the head unit. Still having issue where it will reboot while im driving. Toyota says the the new headunit is the problem. Now waiting over month to get a nee headunit. Ill try putting in reverse. Thanks
Couldn't get it to work. My new RAV4 adventure started rebooting every 30 seconds several weeks ago. I've tried a couple of fixes without success. My Toyota dealer says they have never heard of this problem. (That's a good one.) And, besides they don't have a Master technician who can work on this. I get the impression that the last technician walked out on them. I've even tried to get information from the Toyota company. HA, ha ha!
Yes, this also worked for me on my 2021 Highlander Hybrid. Note that the process in the video won't work for this vehicle, because if in park when accessory mode is on, it cannot be shifted into reverse.
@dirtcheapmedia3390 good question. There is a software update to suppose to fix this issue. You would have to go to toyota and have them update the radio there is a tsb
@@Nickthecarguy That stinks! These Toyota radios are horrible. I already had to replace the original one that was 2 years old in my 2018 4runner thank goodness that one was still under warranty. This one is now 4 years old and this problem just started last week. I even removed the head unit from the dash and checked all the wiring. It seemed good. I then removed the SD card a few days later and that was the problem I believe because it hasn't rebooted in 2 days. Is there an update to the Nav system maybe for your car. If you find a solution can you post because my son just bought a 23 Tacoma TRD PRo with the same head unit I think. No problems yet though.
@petertetukevich5437 only fix is either update the radio unit to the latest software. Or try the reverse as in this video. Only other thing is replace the radio . These radio are a known issue on toyota I see them almost every day having this problem
@FishKepr Sometimes. Now there are times when the radio system will turn on by itself, or the volume will go up or down by itself. We haven't found anything that works.
@@amandalindsey8690Ok, apparently tapping the start button (without holding it) puts the car in Accessory mode. Tapping it again puts it into ON mode. EDIT: It did not work.
Did you end your getting it fixed? My 2023 Rav is doing the same thing. The first time a few weeks ago it was doing it then I did this trick to fix it and it worked for 2 days but now I’m having the same issue again and this trick isn’t fixing it. So annoying!
@@buglady0505it has happened three times now on our RAV4 Limited hybrid. The 1st time me wax3 months ago. I did this technique and the next morning the info system was working* again. Then in mid June a month later it started doing it again. This technique worked again although like the first time I though5 it hadn’t worked but 5he next morning it was fine again. Then yesterday ( August 2 ) a little over a month later it started again. I did this process again but today ( the next day ) it is still rebooting on and off again. I’m getting pissed off. I have to make an appointment with the dealership and get them to look at this. Hopefully the Technical Service Bulletin update will fix it. The vehicle is just under a year and a half old, but it seems like dealerships don’t want to fix this they just want you to get a new info system which I’ve heard prices of $2000 to $7000 and even some guys saying $15,000. We should have received a letter from Toyota by now stating that this is known issue , and they will extend the. Warranty on. This repair to 10+ years at NO COST to the owner. How on Earth can these guys put a crap info / safety system in a vehicle and try to dismiss it or not take responsibility for it? This has been happening on most of Toyota’s vehicles for at least 7-10 years so they know it’s happening. I wouldn’t have bought this vehicle if I knew this issue existed. I’m not shelling out $2000 to $10,000 plus on a part of the vehicle that is a non-wear part of the vehicle and contains the media, safety functions and information of the car! Toyota has gone way downhill!
It worked for mine doing this the first time then 2 days later it started rebooting again and now when I do this for 5 min it doesn’t fix the problem! So mad
@@rickyruiz1508 nope! I haven’t been able to get it to work anymore. The first time worked perfectly fine then 2 days later is starting tripping again.. I’m going to have to take in to the Toyota dealership since I’m still under warranty hopefully they can fix the problem.
I was having the same problem on my 2018 4runner rebooting every minute or so. Really annoying I tried all these tricks it didn't work. I then was about to buy a new head unit when I decided to remove the NAV micro SD card and boom no more rebooting. I don't use the NAV so that is fine .
