I can confirm the 95DSF01 bearing for my Canadian 2012 RAV4. I ordered a kit on eBay labelled “bearing and seal and deflector (for rav4 10-12 coupling) 4130342022 4130342023” for 210$. My mechanic charged about 300 for the labour getting to 500. Way cheaper than the 2300 for the new unit installed or even 1700 for a used unit installed.

I'm glad you were able to fix your differential! It's ridiculous how Toyota dealership won't sell the kit. And trying to sell the whole unit for so much money.

Question: If oil from the diff comes into the Viscous drive, do we leave the inner seal in place or remove it to allow diff oil to get to the bearing.

Parts separately cost close to $150. And estimated 5-6 hours manual work with proper tools. I bought a brand new one with 2 years warranty from ebay for $350, and had it installed to a decent mechanic for $100. Literally 1 hour job including take out, put new one in, and put oil. Don't get scammed at dealers and other mechanics that tried to charge me $3000 for it...

True to that! SIR! The dealerships they don't sell the parts as a kit. They only sell the whole differential which at that time quoted us about 1500 Dollars. Too crazy!

What is the gaskets number for for coupling ?
@wish2fish37
@wish2fish37 3 года назад
Just an FYI on the bearing..95DSF01(90663-95007 dealer # I purchased) bearing number is the same for one with a O- ring and one "WITHOUT" an O-ring.I ordered that number from dealer and got one "WITH OUT" O-ring and when I took my 2008 Rav4 limited apart the original had an O-ring.Maybe there is a different dealer # for 0- ring bearing?See now different Ebay sellers/dealers have both listed under same number for 06' to 09' Best to take it apart first I guess if you can.I put mine together with bearing I purchased with out O-ring.No time to wait and get another one.Should last a long time anyway.Fixed problem regardless.

I also installed new bearing with no o ring.

Do you remove the drive shaft together with the rear transfer case?
@lunasautogarage9643

Nope! Only remove the 4 nuts holding the shaft then push it on the side then remove one of the two brackets holding the coupler transfer case then you should be able to take it down! 😉

An aftermarket differential coupling for the Rav4 is sold now , these include the bearings and replace the oem couplings. Do you think this would reduce the labor cost as opposed to opening the coupling ?
@lunasautogarage9643
@lunasautogarage9643 21 день назад
@@johnh7058 labor would be much easier if you can find aftermarket assembly now if you do just don't throw away your old one just in case the aftermarket fails & less time if you don't have to replace the bearing, coupler and gasket etc etc.

I have the same car Rav4 2011 with the same differential, and I have some questions. I noticed that in the video the original oil seal (color black) is slightly different that the replacement, and I also noticed that you did not replace the dust deflector. Do you agree that the replacement oil seal will fit exactly as the original?, and What was the problem with the new replacement dust deflector, because in the video they look the same shape and at the end you reused the old one? I am asking this questions because I found the same kit on Ebay and I would like to know if make sense to get the same kit, or just the bearing and try to find the original black seal, and reuse the dust deflector. Good job by the way!
@lunasautogarage9643
@lunasautogarage9643 2 года назад
The guy that bought the parts, I think he bought them on ebay & yes seal was slightly different but it fit in & yes I had to use the old deflector which nothing wrong reusing in this case since it is only to prevent dust, dirt , moist etc getting into the coupler ! It would be nice if Toyota would sell the kit but sadly they do not! BTW it's been about a year or so & the noise never came back & the leaking issue got fixed! Hopefully yours gets fixed as well! 🤞

Do you know if the 4 studs in the beginning of the video can be replaced without taking the coupling apart? One of mine is broken
@lunasautogarage9643
@lunasautogarage9643 3 года назад
Unfortunately if you wanna replace them you will need to take the assembly apart! But what I've noticed is that the studs are attached onto the assembly! Your best shot would be to remove the broken stud with a drill bit then make a whole & make some thread & attached a new stud of the same size ! That would be my first route! Second route would be a junk yard & buy the assembly & swap just the part that's broken! Sounds tedious but it's doable! Hope it helps! 🙏

Newer model in this same series changed to a narrower bearing to compensate for the newer added seal installed under the dust deflector Earlier models only had the wider bearing and deflector. Front housing now has a deeper flange to accept the newer seal. Newer is a better design.

@lunasautogarage9643 exactly these parts and the seals for each side of the cv axel. So far I've only found that new cv axels are my only choice to get those seals and for the 2008 there is no seal on the front of the differential. Just press that sylinder down and put the dust deflector on. So far and I've done so much reasearch, talked to So many sellers and even called Toyota to figure it out and thsts what I got from all of it. I really appreciate you replying tho.. most people never reply so I really do appreciate your time.

@lunasautogarage9643 yeah I did see this I think this might be where I have to go to but it seems ok for now. I'm more concerned about this damn hub I can NOT GET OFF. I mean I seriously heated this thing up for 10 minutes with a torch and took a candle and let the wax seep in the threads then took a breaker bar with a 4ft extension which wqs about 5 ft if not more to get off just the 12 point 30 mm nut off the front of the hub. Finally I got thet off and now the back 4 won't budge either. This thing just failed one day and seeing the differential fluid around the differential I thought it was that but upon further inspection and not being able to move thet tire it's definitely the hub I csnt see or tell if anything else is wrong. So far just that. The 4 bolts onbthe back of the hub are SO CLOSE to the cv axel boot I can barly get any tool on those bolts let alone get enough torque to remove them. It's absolutely CRAZY. Even more do since i laid someone over $400 to replace both front hubs and now I see they were never even touched 😔 time was not a friend of mine and I had no choice but to let someone else work on it. Lesson learned ill never let anyone else touch my vehicles. It's a shame the mechanics here in jersey are so dishonest. I wish so bad thet I could open my own shop. Good hard working people can come to and KNOW there getting the most honest service and best parts at reasonable prices. Plus i get to extra knowledge doing said job's. The price for a break job around here is judt under $400 and that's with my own parts it's absolutely unacceptable. Crazy prices here for anything to get done on your vehicle. Judt a basic synthetic oil change at our Walmart is over $90. I understand they have to dispose of the old oil but damn. Smh. Thanks again sorry I got off track a little there. But yeah I think the whole coupler is probably the best way to go at this point. After I get this got damned hub off.

It was making some noise & leaking fluid on the back of the deflector which as you can see on the video there's a seal there which it was failing! Ever since I replaced the kit I show on my video, all the issues went away! 👍

The Bearing shown here is NSK 95DSF01, size 120*95*17 mm. I do not believe this coupling is the original one for 2011. This bearing was used on models built in Canada until July 2009. For models from August 2009 the bearing is a narrower bearing - 120*95*13 mm. NSK 6819-2RS. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above observation was wrong.
