The supra is a different story since bmw put the b58/s58 in many of their cars. For people that want b58/s58...there are many options. Imo Toyota should have never put the b58 in the supra and saved it for an engine they could develope to compete with the s58. Imo it ruined the supra name plate. The mk4 supra will always be more legendary than the mk5 supra regardless of the mk5 being more powerful.

never happening I noticed jan 2023 a worrying trend started comparing engines and prices from 2022,23 and it got way worse in 2024 car prices go up fun engines disappear power on the remaining petrol goes down hard the only way it would have 400hp would be as a PHEV which are EV and I don't want an unusable sportscar that if a carboard box flies under your tray and scratches it means your car is totaled and uninsurable because of fire hazard I also don't care about a PH-EV that depreciate by roughly 50% day1 zero miles driven because I've got news for you manufacturers and dealership deduct the battery pack value immediately after purchase it's considered a non-resellable consumable by them internally and they cost 33-66% of a new EV price for example the mach-e sold 50k the battery is 35'000USD the story is the same for PH-EV

I completely agree with you, however, the issue being, mainly for Americans, is the EPA. With these little engines come high standards for MPGs. This system is flawed af.

We do have affordable sports cars like the Gr86/BRZ and Matia, but people constantly complain about them not having enough power. More power equals a higher price tag, simple as that. Stop complaining about power, and they'll produce more affordable sports cars. People want supercar horsepower but do not want to pay supercar prices.

It's new turbo I4 and hybrid turbo I4 engines has been extremely reliable . only so called issues is a transmission story of 10 or 12 vehicles and One off TFL case. while even the last gen Tacoma had transmission cases on both v6 and i4 models when it first came out. If I had to guess, they're probably going to be hand built or close to it; it definitely wouldn't be assembled with the other engines on a traditional assembly line.

Supra and Corolla dead? Nah Toyota isn't so stupid to kill off the Supra AGAIN just one generation after reviving it. Toyota needs to bring back the 2JZ engine back that's for sure but I think they're pretty aware of that. Plus, the fkn LOTUS EMIRA has a Toyota-sourced V6 engine. That's right a goddamn LOTUS has a Toyota engine on it. So how about Toyota use that same Lotus's engine and put it in the new Supra. It's not the 2JZ but damn it's an engine that is also in a LOTUS! What's not hype about that? And the GR Corolla, well come one its a corolla with a GR Yaris build. It's not that expensive to manufacture. I think the GR Yaris/Corolla will be dead when a new official WRC racing car comes out. Then there's probably gonna be a few years until they release new road-legal versions.

While others brands try to keep their variety to a lower more "manageable" number, Toyota is just so big that they just release as many models as they want. So yeah, I do think the MR2 and the Celica can totally exist at the same time as the Supra. Besides, the Supra not selling well is just destiny at this point lol. The Supra NEVER sold well past the mk1. So I'd say that's completely normal there. It shouldn't be a problem tho cuz the money they make on Corollas, Camrys, and Rav4s alone is enough to make up for the production cost of the Supra. That's something that's always bothered me, when big brands kill off low sale cars bcs they don't sell but like BRUH, the other more popular models are carrying the brand already so why the f*ck are they worried that ONE model isn't selling as much!? If all brands did that they would all have become just like fkn Mitsubishi: lame, ugly crossovers and an econo-car that's been deemed the WORST new car you can buy but people but them anyway bcs they're cheap as f*ck. Toyota already came out of its "econo-car" era and is making a comeback into the sports car and off-road world. If they kill the Supra again, that whole momentum will be lost and people will switch from hating on the Supra to hating on Toyota for giving up so fkn quickly. Just take some funds from the Camry's big fat piggybank and bam! Easy! Supra can keep going for another decade regardless if it sells or not. And besides, it's not like the Celica and MR2 are gonna sell well either. Allow me to remind you that those were originally killed off bcs of low sales also. That’s what happens when people want to the other Japanese automakers to go out of business. I mean, it’s also the automakers’ faults that they’re not doing as well as Toyota, but still. Toyota being a monopoly of reliability is horrible. The GR Corolla scandal only proves that.

For corporate vehicles where the owners are given company fuel cards, for the most part when privately owned PHEV are purchased people plug them in. Few folks are paying extra for a PHEV/EREV just to pay even more out of pocket to fill it up with fuel.

@@byhsu6140 yes, and has been out for a while. No “common” manufacturers (Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc) have been able to pull this off in USA besides the Premium brand Mercedes. I think this type of power should be much more common and available but don’t know the realities the manufacturers face to homologate for sale in USA.
