BillK on Tacomaforum.com had this to say to one owner. Might help. "On the back side of the cab, towards the bottom, on both drivers side and passenger side, there's a rubber plug..." They should be about an inch in diameter which should be plenty big enough to pass a PL259.

Can also run cable through vent between cab and bed/behind rear seats if its a double cab.

Yes, but no...if you care about your gear you will need to RF ground the entire body, which I normally do w/ a screwdriver-type install, but never imagined it for a 4 watt CB.

It kind of drags on the tailgate. I don’t think I could get the bolts any tighter without breaking them

Does that interfere with the Bed Stiffener?

It does not interfere! You will need to have at least a 1/8" gap in the mounting area to fit the mount.

Are these strong enough to use with a 102" antenna whip with spring?

Yes. I got the one from Amazon for like 20$ only 2 mounting holes and I have the heavy spring and the 102” whip the swr is perfect. Get a 18’ coax to run under the truck and thru the grommet under the back seat. These short antennas will not work the swr is never gonna be right it needs to be taller than the cab by a few feet.

@@ironwoodliving769 I've used the 102 whip on this mount and it flexes way too much. Eventually this mount will break, imho.

@@H20Spy it may but it will take a long time for it to break. I’m running a 5’ firestick now on the same mount.

Yes. but location and RF grounding may not give you the SWR reading you might want, or need if perhaps running an amp.

Update. Cannot get the mount to ground at all. May be my topper aluminum window frame. Cannot tune any antenna on the mount.

I wire brushed the lower part where the bottom, screw goes in and also the botton of the mount where the antenna mount screw into (negative) and ran a very short piece of 1" ground braid from the bottom bolt to the top shiny screw where the bed latches. Also have grounded/RF bonded all doors and hood, but sadly w/ a 102" steel whip I had a 1:8:1 SWR I removed the 6" riser (for a 106" quarter wave length of 11 meters) and my SWR went to 1:5:1, not very good...but definitely useable, I suppose...while I constantly hear about others "flat match w/ a 102" whip"...

Okay...after saying how much I like this mount I probably have to say "I like the way I do not have to drill a hole(s) into my 2020 Tacoma, compared to the actual "This works great, wish I had them on both sides"..as it has actually been a pain in the but to get a decent SWR.. I started with the 102" steel whip with a 6" riser ( as EVERYONE has told me "a 102" whip is NOT harmonic on 11 meters")...and after wrestling with that have only 1:7:1 SWR's, so I took away the riser, which should place it in the 10 meter band, and it is 1:5:1, I have tried other whips, tall Firesticks, ect...still nothing better than 1:7:1..Okay, then grounding like they show on here and other comments:..so I ordered about 25' of 1" copper braid from Georgia copper, and RF grounded the entire body, bed, doors, battery tray, exhaust, everything...still 1:7:1. I may just use this w/ a 17M Hamstick with my radios antenna tuner and buy a Wilson magnetic mount antenna for 11 meters. I have installed for myself and for all of my friends that wanted the help of a ham operator to install a CB, but this has completely got me stumped. I REALLY wanted this mount to work..

I use a 10” gp riser on my 102” steel whip on my Freightliner Cascadia. 1.0-1.1 across 11 meter. Very adjustable for 10 or 11 meter. Finally got my rago mount. Will be looking to install on pickup this weekend. Already have some grounding strap that expect it will need.
