Documentary that takes us behind the scenes over the 500 days leading up to Toyota's return to World Rally Championship racing after an 18-year hiatus. [TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team] toyotagazooracing.com/wrc/
I am 33 and now I am into cars, I don't even own my own car. I didn't have any interest in it. And before two mouths I played WRC 10 on PC, and I was timidity in love with it. And now I am looking for teams and history for about 2-3 weeks. I am amazed at what these guys doing for the team. I am happy with my life, but looking at this I wish I can be born one more time and do all I can to join a team like this even if my job is just to clean that car or something like that. Great team Jari-Matti Latvala has a great personality, and the team have a great spirit.
Tommi Makinnen WAS ,IS and Always WILL BE My favorite Rally Driver of all times in many Ways he's Like Ayrton Senna OF Rallying ! some people have questioned me in regards to Sebastian Loeb and im taking No Credit from Loeb . But at least In last 20 years Every Single WRC World Champion has learned Something from Tommi Makinnen ! his driving style which a lot Top WRC drivers legends have adopted . The carisma he has , work ethic and very strong Atention to detail . his Focus and ability to put togheter a small number of highly professional People on very short time is almost unheard of . Its amazing to see a WRC documentary that capture all this . Great Team Work well done .
It's him that teach the scandinavian flick to everyone iirc. Anyway, yes he is one of the greatest monument of the rally community. Loeb is the achievment of his contribution but still the best driver of the history, you can't deny it
From mild success in the first year back to a manufacturers win in 2018. Now on track to win a drivers championship and fighting head-to-head for manufacturers championship too. You have come a long way in three years.
Truth be told, the new Yaris GR (2020) is starting to revive my 1990 era WRC days. I hope that Toyota lights that fire again within me and bring back rally stages reminiscent of the Subaru, Mitsubishi and Toyota rivalry back then! Best of luck Toyota...you have my patronage
that would mean canceling both wrc and wec programs for f1 so toyota for now are not very interested, unless the made changes to the engine regulations that would attract new entrants to the sport and to make enough financial sense to join....
@@johnpatricklim4509 You just have to look at Akio Toyotas expression he's absolutely in love with Rally and rally cars. With that much passion in a project and inclusion of Mäkinen I think it would be a great diservice to the company to divert attention away from it. I enjoy F1, but I agree with you at the expense of wrc no way.
@@alexcross4008 maybe a cheaper way is to become an engine supplier....depending on the negotiations for the upcoming change in engine regulations...if it's cheaper to make due to cost restrictions.....then the chances of toyota coming back to f1 could be good....
@@muhammadshofwan5309 It's the cost of running those teams especially on travel and stay for the crew, then there is the salary of the drivers and team management, toyota is already running two teams, each with a set budget to run for a season, they also operate and they have a specific intentions of translating whatever development they made into their cars like the gr yaris. F1 is a different beast with a budget that is bigger than their endurance and rallying programs. It's not like before when they were in F1 that they have a come what may budget but with little success. Now, post financial crisis, they are more responsible with their finances and specific goals of developing new technologies for their cars i.e. their hybrid systems....if they want to go back to formula 1, might as well as an engine supplier while still retaining the two teams they officially running. Supply GR power units to for example Red Bull or Haas. has a benefit of earning from supplying those teams...
My favorite Toyota Rally history is when they won the Hong Kong - Beijing Rally in the Mk3 Supra. Sparked me to buy one and currently in the process of making a replica of it!!
Thank you for this documentary, #toyotagazooracing! I'm really glad I found it. By accident, actually. Very emotional, very inspiring.... It just touched the very deep of my heart... Thank you, #Toyota, thank you, #TommiMakinen for making this all happen!!! Tommi, you are what defines #toyotagazooracing for me, overall. From the very start. I really hope, that #jarimattilatvala will step further in your shoes as successfully as you did. Best of luck to you and everyone in #toyotagazooracing !!! I'm in different lair now, because I'm Estonian and just have to root for #OttTanak, but I still root for you as well. Still a bit sad, that he left your team in 2020... Nevertheless, I will always remember, in which team he won his first title! Thank you again and long live #wrc !!!!!
Many thanks for uploading!! It really is a great documentary and I did enjoy every single minute of it :D :D Would love to see a bit more guys, so keep em coming :D :D Good luck!!!
2nd, 3rd and 7th placed finish for the three Toyota Gazoo WRC cars on today's 2018 Monte Carlo rally tells it's own story after watching this fantastic documentary and such a dedicated finely tuned Toyota team. Well done all. 👍
Really impressive to see the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT get into the Wrc top at once. And build a really cool rallycar! The finnish side Of me is very proud.! ☺️✌️Incredibly talented people and a lovely teamwork. What a dream to be apart Of.. Good Luck in the future!!
So glad [HAPPY] Toyota are coming back into the rally scene because they WILL be making a fast road going version, AND from the days of always Sideways to now just cutting corners [apex] it;s become a little boring until you see someone go off BUT thats not fun you want your driver SAFE and of course your prefered team to WIN BEST WISHES TOYOTA SCOOBS UK.

As a rally fan of the 90's, I feel really good about this partnership. Gone are Subaru and Mitsubishi from WRC but this may just be another beginning! It's looking really good for Toyota
I love how humble the Japanese seem to be. Here we basically have the president of one of the biggest automotive concerns in the world, completely fangirling all over a rally driver. Amazing!
"[...] completely fangirling all over a rally driver." He's a driver himself. He understands what that means. That's the deal. Still I get your point, he's very nice.
Yessss! Return of a great make to WRC! Are you listening Subaru? Mitsu? You guys only going to make boring SUV crossovers for the rest of time? How about another American make? The Dodge Dart might make a cool platform, or even Chevy....We need more makes in the championship!
Mitsu has long given up sadly in the steps towards ev Subaru on the other hand the vehicle of choice has gone into a gray area with the impreza changing and the xv looking more practical so more r and d
The stakes are incredibly high. Remember Röhrl in the 70s getting a Capri from Ford with just very few mods but being able to drive several best times at the Olympia. Today that'll be impossible.
Congratulations Toyota Gazoo Racing! 2023 Overall Champions! • 2023 FIA WRC Manufacturer's Title. • 2023 FIA WRC Driver's Title - Kalle Rovanperä • 2023 FIA Hypercar World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship • 2023 FIA Hypercar World Endurance Drivers Championship - Brendon Hartley
This is awesome... I wish t’other WRC teams would take note and produce similar films... btw, if you want a kick, lookup where the name *Gazoo Racing* comes from, it’s a very funny story !!!
An Amazing team, very good documentation but there is one thing bugging me that is related to WRC rules. The cars have litte to nothing in common with the road cars they resemble. I would be amazed when big manufacturers would return to homologation cars where they sell the chassis, engine, gearbox in a hot street car configuration. Back in the 80's they did it with Celica, Lancia Delta, 037, the Audi Quattros, Peugeot T16 etc. etc. I think Subaru is the only one left that sells the WRX STI as an actual homologation car to customers.
@@johnpatricklim4509 Well after i wrote this. But you're right. Toyota did it. They created a proper homologation car for WRC. Much more than the styled up Polo VW did and just put Rallye stickers all over it.
It's not a big surprise, he's really good and Lappi is still learning. Jari-Matti just ain't good enough. Next year Lappi will take on the challenge and hopefully even beat the estonian rocket.
Northern Lights imo Latvala already said that this season is his last chance to win the championship. This means he will probably end his career at the end of this season.
This was a super fascinating documentary. I wonder what lessons were learned on the business side of things from Toyota's F1 days and how tje decision making in Tokyo was aligned with the race team. It really would've been fascinating to see what that team mightve pulled of in 2010 but it was too late by that point.
