Nice video, definitely appreciate the call out regarding HomeCare configuration. I agree, its odd that you would have to leave a router's web interface to manage it... and mobile apps are definitely more likely to become unsupported/non-functional over time. Please update us if they add a web interface.

Thanks for the review. Just bought this one for 119 euro's as an upgrade over my current router. I have wifi 6 on my new gaming brick so I am curious how that will work. It is a bargain. It also buys me some time to see if I really want a mesh thingy with fancy antennas offering full AX client connectivity as well as SpaceX messaging services and other futuristic features.

Nothing particularly wrong with this router but the Wifi speed I got when compared to my BT Smart hub 2, a 900 Mbps fibre connection, from the router to my PC was poor. I was getting a steady 230 Mbps at around 20 ft from the AX50 router ( the PC was also WiFi 6 enabled). The BT Smart hub is giving me 420 Mbps with a Wi-fi 5 protocol.
@jackshittle
@jackshittle Год назад
My question (as I have one of these); what speeds do you get through any of the LAN ports and what speeds do you get wirelessly on 5 Ghz? Here is my issue that is irritating me; I have gigabit service coming into my house which then goes into my Arris S33 2.5 gigabit modem (which when I connect my laptop to it via ethernet I get only 500-660 Mbps down, which is a problem right there Why am I not getting 900+ Mbps?). Now once I had my Archer AX50 to the mix and I connect via ethernet to a LAN port my speed goes down to about 200 Mbps. Now when I use wireless on 5 Ghz while standing right next to the AX50 I get 150-240 Mbps. If I have gigabit service with a 2.5 gigabit modem & gigabit router I should be getting at least 500 Mbps down on 5 Ghz while I'm standing next to the router. And why the drop from 660 Mbps from the modem to my laptop, then dropping to 200 Mbps via a LAN port on router, then down to 150 -240 Mbps down while on wireless? Somethings wrong if I'm getting 150 Mbps on wireless when I have the gigabit service with the appropriate modem & wifi router. Any ideas? Thanks & cheers!

Hi...enjoyed the video,can you set up how fast data flows to certain devices? Also would this have any problems using a network switch?(I have a network switch upstairs that splits to two Xbox's) I am thinking of getting this as I think it's way better than virgin media's WiFi capabilities
@Play3rYT
@Play3rYT 2 года назад
No. QOS features are there which allow you to choose the type of traffic that gets prioritised but not to single devices (yet). I doubt that adding a switch would be an issue either. In all my testing ALL routers are attached to a 2.5GB switch I use to link my Fileserver and daily PC together.

Do I need to change my mhz to 160 to get full potential .. will that improve download and upload speed to buy and how much for this router ??
@Play3rYT
@Play3rYT 2 года назад
Almost all devices won't work or don't have the ability to work at 160MHz. Plus manually setting that may leave some other Wi-Fi devices unable to find the router at all. I'd recommend leaving it set to normal. Download and upload speed on Wi-Fi could be improved, but usually this isn't the case. You're best off making the changes and seeing what works best for you. Dave.

I bought one and returned it. The device was overheating, especially the underside. (About 50'C). With wireless 5GHz, file copy speed was dropping from 60 Mb / s to 10 MB / s during the day. Is the device heating up causing this? What is your opinion about this excessive heat and the reduction in copy speed?
@Play3rYT
@Play3rYT 3 года назад
Yeah, it does get noticeably warm as I mentioned in the review. Heat buildup will eventually cause performance degradation if it gets too hot, and that sounds possible in your case. Where are you storing the router, is it well ventilated?

Is TP-Link Archer AX50 Wi-Fi 6 Router is compatible with TP-Link R605?

Hi Matt. I have just purchased this router. Im on vodafone been using there mk1 router for ages. needed an upgrade. problem is swapped it out for the tp link but i wont connect to the internet. I get a wifi signal which i can connect to but no internet access. Vodafone have given me a username and password which they said i need to input into any third party router. Where do i go to input these details in? cant find it any where in the app?
@Play3rYT
@Play3rYT 3 года назад
If you have this exact model then you are also going to need a 4G router. The AX50 router is designed to be used with an additional V/ADSL+, cable modem or 4G modem which provides the internet connection. So you could use your Vodafone box, and DMZ into this AX50. As this is what I'm currently doing, I'm also on a 4G Vodafone connection, but I use a Huawei 4G modem. Hope this helps, Dave.

@Play3rYT

No problem. From my testing, it worked beautifully. Considering 4G's generally higher ping and how "unstable" it can be, compared to fibre/cable internet, it worked wonderfully for me before it went to its new home with a play3r staff member.
