So far every step is spot on with my process. Looking forward to more.

From what I gather, a lot of people have the same, or at least a very similar process. Most of us landed on this way from years of trial and error which tells me one thing, were headed in the right direction. Thanks for watching!

Great video and really appreciate your efforts to educate the masses out here. I was surprised that you went over primers so quickly though. Brian Litz mentioned this once in a podcast so I tried it while fire coming my new Alpha brass. He mentioned that it’s helpful when starting a new gun to do a primer/powder test to see which combination works best. H4350 gave much better SD/ES (9/19j with BR4 than CCI 450, however Stabal 6.5 greatly preferred CCI 450. (4/15). Not a criticism just a question as my 1 time of doing this hardly qualifies as data.
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Thats a great point and you are correct. There's usually enough load data available from the commercial sources that can help you choose the best "speed" powder or the best "accuracy" powder and I've found they are generally spot on. As for primers, the biggest problem is the availability these days. It's basically a "get what you can, when you can" market. I've recently bought primers I have never bought before just because its what is available, and I think a lot of people are in the same boat. Regarding the performance with different primers, I've never found a need to test out different primers after load development. 90% of the time I can reach a load that gives me the accuracy I want after an OCW test and seating depth test. I stick with that primer for the duration of my reloads for that setup. Before everything went south with the component supply, I would only use Federal Gold Medal Match primers for everything and all of my rifles shoot below 1/2" and most of my rifles will shoot between 1/4" and 3/8". That is a great point and something I'd like to do some testing on when I get done with this series. Thanks for the input!!!!! -Shawn

Great series. I’m definitely interested in seeing what kind of velocities you’ll be getting with these loads, especially with your near max/max loads. 43+ grains of H4350 with a 115 Dtac sounds high AF! I’m currently shooting 112 MBs at around 2960 FPS with only 40.6 grains. 43+ grains I’m expecting ludicrous speeds 😅
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
The last barrel shot the 115’s at 3050 through a 26” barrel. The chamber is throated specifically for 115’s so they get seated with the top of the boat tail right at the neck / shoulder junction so I have quite a bit more case capacity than a typical chamber. That helps a bunch, but who knows! This barrel may be way different and have pressure problems at that load. We shall see! 😁 I re-barreled that rifle with the new barrel that’s in it now at 2,000 rounds. It still shot really well but I wanted a fresh barrel for the summer season. The first barrel was a Krieger 4 Groove and this one is a Bartlein 5 groove. Should be an interesting test!

I may have not understood what you said about powder burn speed? longer barrel slower powder shorter barrel faster powder
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Generally speaking we want the slowest burning powder that will allow us full performance out of the cartridge. This isn't always the case but it's a good rule of thumb. It also has to do with barrel length. Faster burning powders are beneficial out of shorter barrels so you have a chance at getting complete powder burn, and slower burning powders are king in the longer barrels and heavier calibers. A great example of this are the 300 Norma Mags I've built. I get the best performance out of the longer barrels 28"-32" with Retumbo, a very slow burning power. On the other hand, I get better performance using H1000, a slightly faster powder, from the shorter barrels below 28". When I am referring to performance, that includes velocity, consistency and accuracy. Here's a link to a burn rate chart: bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2022/01/powder-burn-rate-comparison-table-download/ My apologies if that was unclear in the video.

What power conditioner are you using got the scale?
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Its a "Line-R 1200" made by APC. Had it for years, and has always worked perfect. It's also nice insurance to protect your scale from power outages and surges.

@@triggeredprecisionmachinellcthank you! I been looking into getting something since I have the V4 coming and I noticed my scale starting to drift a little at my new place.
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
Ya, if you have the V4 coming, its cheap insurance to protect your investment.

Not when it comes to primers. 😂
@triggeredprecisionmachinellc
😂😂😂 Oh man..... my brain was out to lunch. What I was trying to say, and it didn't come out right, was I like to do things in 1/4's (25 Pieces) of 100 since our primers, and usually our cases and bullets come in boxes of 100. Its a complete personal quirk and not necessary at all, but it helps me keep track of stuff. The stuff that comes out of our mouths sometimes.....LOL
