This is version 2 of my track shark! Using what i have learned from the first model i have updated and refined the machine for maximum greatness! This is my version of a cheep way of building a track sled. Its a great way to put an old snowmobile back into service!

cool to see you build another machine, you were a big inspiration for my build! I used a 98 mountain max tunnel and did a stage 3 on a power point 7 hp motor, used a cvt system and got a disk brake setup from princess auto. Its been a great machine for years now!

I like this a lot. I live in a part of the country where snow is rare. Because it's rare, an inch brings traffic to a stop. It was kind of funny one year - the snow fell overnight, and was predicted well in advance for a change. So most everyone stayed home - and my commute to work dropped from 30 minutes+ down to 14 minutes. I can't justify the cost of a snowmobile to use it 5 days a year, but a quick craigslist search turned up an old running Polaris for $500. All I'd want from it is the track module - widen it a few inches and use a skid plate between them to mount dual electric motors and battery as low as possible. Use twin throttle sticks like on the old 6x6 atv's for steering. That would make for a pretty compact low maintenance rig that would store easily.

Hello, I'm building one of these. I have it about half finished now. Is there a reason the engine is in the front? If it was centered, would it be better, or worse? A have not seen many with the engine in the rear, I'm guessing it would not steer as well with the weight there? Any advice would be great! Thanks!
@REDNIC79
@REDNIC79 3 года назад
the only reason is so that there is a larger cargo area. and it really helps to have the extra cargo weight on the track.

@@REDNIC79 Wow! ok. here in Quebec snowmobiles are considered like gold. people hug the old worn and burned-out one for years and struggle to even put them for sale. i see many that i would consider only good for the thrash getting sold for 500$+. on comparison i buy a car every couple of years for about 500$ and its mostly road worthy. strange how the "sport" stuff like jet-ski, snowmobile and boat sell for such a high price, while the normal stuff like cars are scrapped for peanuts.

Nice build! Hopefully the extra engine weight up top doesn't bite you in the butt. Mine is kind of tippy just with a 212cc. I like your hand crank idea - I cut my jackshaft off a bit too short to add that unfortunately. I watched your original Trackshark video about 20 times for inspiration and ideas! These little DIY machines are awesome winter transportation - I can't wait to get out on the snow with it again. Rich in Ontario. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SrHFxJlh2To.html
