Thanks for a complete explanation of the options. Very informative. I’ll never have a tractor like yours because my wife would NEVER agree to working another 10 years, LOL😂. Thanks for video.
Nice video Bullitt. I had my Massey 1533 for 10 years before I added the grapple and it is absolutely well worth every penny. If anyone is considering a grapple, go with the 3rd function. You'll love your tractor even more. Thanks for video.
You explained the differences very well. Thank you. I was beginning to think having my third function factory installed was a waste of money and no better than an diverted. Now so glad I did, will make using the grapple much better I think.
Thanks for watching. The joystick is nice. I can hold it like I was in the video or I can hold my hand vertically and work the buttons with my index finger and middle finger.
This a is a great video. Thanks for the explanation. I’m about to buy a new tractor and the sales guys throw the terms around like they are interchangeable...but really they aren’t...
Thanks for the video. After 7 years of thinking about it, I've finally decided its time to get a grapple. My issue is that I have arthritis in my right thumb, so I'm going to have to take that into consideration when I choose between the diverter valve and the third function. I could add a simple transfer switch and then add secondary foot switches on the left side of the cab next to the brakes (for when I thumb gets tired). I just have to first decide how complicated I want to make it.... One switch (diverter) or two (third function).
Thanks. The buttons on my joystick can also be used with index finger depending on how I grip it. Check out scorpion joysticks. They may have a solution for you.
Your welcome. I was looking back through all of my replies and I was going to tell you I made this video. A tractor like this would be over $40,000 today. The tier IV emissions really jacked up the price.
Thanks, that was very helpful! Glad to know of the third function option. I'm looking for a way to increase my haudraulic flow. We have an L6060, and I'd like to add hydraulic flow to the third function, if that were possible. Any idea?
Thanks you. Here is a video on the camera. There are links in the description to everything I used. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X6b6a77JMVA.html
Few questions if thats ok;-) first is on your grapple i notice you have 2 jaws operating by themselves, do you find them problematic in any operation instead of the all one top jaw? the other is what is the make of your grappler? Thanks for explaining the third function so well that's the way i will go, I have a b26, also did you add that back up camera yourself? and what type is that , boy that would help alot where I am tight spaces;-) great channel much peace Brother Brian
2 lids are better for a wide grapple. They clamp an uneven load better. The grapple is a Everything Attachments Wicked Root grapple. I'd kind of like to have a root rake grapple. I think it would work better for my uses, and the Everything Attachments root rake would be my top choice. Here is the video on the back up camera: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X6b6a77JMVA.html Here is another video on my other camera, which could also be used as a back up camera. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QyZZr2-saJQ.html
Tractor Tech it came in today. I love it! I just hate that they made the top button close and bottom open. I assume I can just switch 2 wires instead of swapping connections.
You probably could change the wiring, but if the hydraulic connections are wrong, and you hook another attachment up to it, then it will be wrong. The top quick disconnect on my tractor is the male quick disconnect. On the attachment the female quick disconnect goes to the rod end of the cylinder.
thanks for the video. answered alot of my questions. I'm gonna go with the 3rd function on my kubota l3800. what brand is that 3rd function? I've looked at wr and land pride so far
Your welcome! That tractor has Kubota 3rd function. I've never heard anything bad about the W. R. Long 3rd function. Kubota owns Landpride, so it should be good too.
Fit Rite Hydraulics ( www.fitritehydraulics.com ) is worth a look. Brian Scudder does a great job building, fitting and instructing you along the way. He is a one-man shop however so if you don't want to wait for a fantastic product, you may want to look elsewhere. He did a great job for me. He made it way easier than I anticipated.
I really do appreciate this video on the 3rd function valve. I have a question if you can please advise me. I have a Kubota L series L4701 tractor purchase last November 2021. I have been told Kubota does not make the heavier steel lines and joy stick switch like you have for my L4701 tractor. I really do not like the cheaper looking 3rd function valve kit. No steel lines and the joy stick switch (knob) is really doesn't look durable and has not "on" green light button. Can you help direct me to the type heavy duty 3rd function valve kit please? Thank you for helping. Steve
The divertor just takes one function of the loader and splits it. So if the divertor was on the curl function I could either curl or open/ close the grapple and I could still raise or lower the loader at the same time. Instead of having 4 hoses for your loader you would have 6.
I’m not a fan of the separate grapples and twin rams I do not like the delay each have it is much better to have one ram and single grapple, in my opinion of course, Informative video for the lay person not overly complicated as many content producers tend to do.
Thanks for the info. I don’t really need the ability to run multiple functions. What I would like to do is hook up a jack hammer or a hydraulic water pump any advice on the cheapest way to accomplish that? I have a bx23s
Just wondering.......has anyone considered an electric 12v hydrolic 2 way pump with its own remote to attach to tractor joy stick to control hands of grapple.....some are rated at more lbs that the tractor can lift .......not sure if it will just screw into cylinder of grapple.....one cylinder probably will work best
You could do that, but it would be costly. You would also have another hydraulic system to maintain. Electric pumps are not as reliable as mechanical pumps.
So basically the 3rd function allows movement of all things at the same time....where as the diverter valve "diverts" hyd flow to one function or another...only allowing 2 functions at a time vice 3? So if I have a grapple.....3rd fuction means I can raise, clamp down, and rotate the tines all at the same time. With a diverter valve.....you could raise/lower and either clamp or rotate the tines. Is this a correct assessment?
What if you have a tractor with hydraulics in the rear for a backhoe but no way to control the hydraulics because the levers are on the backhoe itself? Is there a cheap valve with a lever to add or should you just get the third remote function?
Tractor Tech i had to take the mirrors off from my B2410 due to one of our vineyards is over 70 years old, it was planted narrow... the camera works awesome.
Just wondering .... I use my 3rd function valve for my snow blade in winter. I'm planning on getting an hydraulic top link for my rear implements . Can I plug my 3rd function system back the top link ?
Yes, but with the 3rd function, it is either on or off. It will be hard to make small adjustments. Flow resistors in the hoses of the top link will help.
Sooo.....i needed this video. I want to connect snow plow to loader. 3rd function $750. Is that parts and labor? Im trying to figure out which way to go.
Call be weird. I like single 30" three finger with solid bottom grapple with third function. Scrap grapple weights in at 500 lbs not 900 lbs. With solid bottom you don't drop a thing out the bottom.
Yes, I do here is a video on the camera and monitor I chose. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X6b6a77JMVA.html Here is how it is wired. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2NQYBk0-QxI.html
Good information thanks. Feedback on your video: People will generally tolerate poor video quality but poor sound most people will just go to another video. Figure out what's rubbing on your mic.
Thanks.' I have since modified my cameras housing to reduce the mic noise. I have also changed some settings on it to help reduce the noise. I am looking at getting an external mic and or a new camera.
It is an Everything attachments 72'' wicked grapple. IIRC it weight 435lbs. They now open a little wider so they may weight a hair more. Here is a video showing the difference between it an an economy grapple. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sEv8e-RV498.html
Obviously you know what you're talking about. The video is nearly unwatchable between the poor lighting and the audio scratch we are hearing. If you could redo the video, and correct these problems, it would be appreciated.
The audio problem came from my go pro hero 5 black. If you move while holding it, it makes the noise. I have since upgraded to a DSLR and wireless mic.
Or you could just deal with it and appreciate the man’s efforts to explain something. I found the brief scratching sound marginally irritating, but was FAR outweighed by the information being imparted.
