Bengaluru Oota Company is a unique dining experience run by two lady entrepreneurs Divya Prabhakar and Vishal Shetty. Divya is a Gowda, and Vishal is from the Bunt community of Mangalore. They bring together their respective cuisines in a marriage of flavours, represented in their customizable tasting menus.
In this episode of Gourmet On The Road, we learn how the two women started this enterprise. Food Lovers’ Editor Kripal Amanna sits down to sample their menu for the day which includes a Kane Rava Fry, Pelata Gatti (steamed jackfruit dumplings) with Kori Ajadina, a Bannur Mamsa Pulav. He rounds off the meal in true South Indian fashion with curd rice, rasam and a badam halwa.
KOSAMBARI
This cucumber based traditional salad has just the right amount of tempering to give it that savoury lift. A great start to a meal here.

scrumptious crunch with a strong garlick-y flavour.

GOLI BAJJI
hot and freshly made! crisp, crunchy outside with a yielding inside. Makes for a spirited bite with the coconut chutney, owing to the green chilli heat in the chutney!

KANE RAVA FRY
this rava-fried kane is just the right size. Ticks the right boxes - the flaky freshness of the fish, well- balanced masala and the perfect semolina crumb.

KAIMA UNDE
soft to the touch and literally melts in your mouth! you don't have to chew on it at all. A tava fried crust yields to the moist coriander flavoured mutton mince on the palate.

PELATA GATTI
similar in texture to an idli but with the mellow sweetness that emanates from flecks of ripe jackfruit. A happy discovery!

KORI AJADINA
the chicken has absorbed the savoury, creamy, coconut-ty flavours of this curry. when eaten with the pelata gatti, it is a divine combination.

BANNUR MAMSA PULAV
the rice has all of the flavours of the meat, spices, and herbs, with a subtle citrusy twang. With a bite to it, the meat makes for a happy union with the flavourful rice, the pulav takes a zesty turn when eaten with the piquant pudina chutney.

MUNCHI KORI (CHILLI CHICKEN)
served as a side to the pulav here. the chicken is braised in a lovely, savoury, onion masala with mild heat.

the vegetable still has its crunch and fibre. the bite of the coconut gives it that added texture.

tangy rasam that’s low on spice.

MOSARANNA (CURD RICE)
cool and refreshing with the sweet pop of the pomegranate seeds. lightly tempered with that roasted curry leaf flavor. the pineapple in the mensakai made for sweet and sour combination with the curd rice.

more sour than spicy, with a mellow heat that stays on the palate.

made of almonds, cashew nuts, ghee, and khova this is a decadent, thick halwa.

@@pavankumbar117 it's mentioned - see at 25.50. Of course price is not mentioned for each item but for the entire meal which is Rs.950 upwards per person. What is not mentioned is whether GST is included. And also is there any service tax. It is not cheap by any measure but you will get to taste a home cooked meal!.

Kripal, I would say that this home meal brings out gems you do not get in restaurants. As a chef, this type of feast at home brings out the best of the local cuisine which you normally miss at branded restaurants. I think you need to get yourself invited to real homes of people and enjoy different cuisines made by that real mom, granny or just the home maker. You always pass on your food aroma and visuals for me to savour.Thanks.

If anybody is confused about what “ Bannuru Maamsa Palav or Pulav “ is Bannuru is name of a place , and goats 🐐 of this place it seems like yield good quality meat .. and Maamsa is meat .. Palav or pulav ofcourse is the dish!!!

Bannur is a taluk name in Mysore district and is famous for its bannur kuri or bannur 🐑. So the palav with this meat is called bannur mamsa palaw mamsa means mutton

What you are missing is - this is not a typical restaurant style meal. From what is being described in the video this is a much personal experience, they are taking into account all individual preferences & designing a personal meal to suit an individual taste. So looking at restaurant prices outside here in Pune for a fare that exquisite, I would definitely say that a premium is well deserved. Now how much exactly is expensive for someone differs on a individual basis. But if we take into consideration a chefs table at a classy restaurant running 5 figure bills per person, this looks far more VFM provided the experience is as it is described !

Hi Kripal...I like the way you narrate the food before you take it into the mouth. Your expressions give us an indication of the taste of the food you are chewing.. Great and simply superb. I would suggest Bengaluru oota company to have someone from North Karnataka, NK has a rich cuisine if BOC adds NK meal to their menu then it would be a complete Karnataka cuisine package.

I Felt as I had lunch @ Bangalore Oota Company ,Very delicious food I am sure ,cooked with passion & passionate employees within a clean kitchen ,Definitely in my bucket list during my visit to India ,My favorite was the Lamb ball. With a bottle of wine it will be much more well celebrated -Cheers.

The menu was great and the ambience is very homely from kitchen to the dining area. Pelatagatti & chicken curry was one of a kind combo - would love to taste it. Hello kripal , Just wow .... this is after watching the whole video. Actually i am watching your channel for last one month and always enjoyed it . for a very long time i am not subscribed food channel but after watching this video of oota company and i immly subsribed it . The way you interact with owners ( short and sweat ) , tasting food with out side dish and with side dish and finally the mark with proper details . it is so professional .. congrats .. ( your video is matching to international standard ) Actually i did my college in bangalore so i always love to watch bangalore food videos .. About the oota company .. Menu items are really unique and new experience with proper taste based on your facial expression and hmm sound after the bite of a good items. I do have to admit that I admire the initiative taken by these ladies I wish them all the best. I find the restaurant or the experience to be a bit for the elite. I understand that it’s more homely with no add on like in normal restaurants but the price is too steep. I don’t want to a pessimist but I have my doubts about the biz model but impressed with the food 🥘.

Menu contained one dish that's quite rare but everything else were very regular dishes, all of which are available at much lesser prices at places which have been making it with traditional recipes since decades. This is quite expensive for a very ordinary menu. However, the branding of the dishes is done in a very sophisticated way...i guess it's a placebo feeling when one goes to such a place, the money you pay and the sophistication around it makes you feel that the food is extraordinary:P Good video as always nonetheless! cheers!

Dear god no. The Rajakeeyam was so lousy. Literally diabetic food....zero oil or spices. Except the Mor Kolumbu or White Sambar....all else was tasteless as hell. Hype. 450 bucks.... Another so called health rip off...

Disappointed towards the end.. That's a fake coffee froth that just flies with a blow.. I don't mind spending 1.5K for my meal but not on a fake culinary who is taking an advantage of their caste and region.. I'm a Gowda.. Ask me what a typical Gowda meal is.. It starts from Ragi Rotti, Upsaaru, Mudde to Boti Fry, Tale Maamsa, mutton Pulav and Nati Koli saaru..
