Our hearts go out to the family who suffered a terrible loss in this tragedy. The purpose of this video is to bring awareness to the importance of boating safety.
Capt. Leon, I have also been following this story closely and thought of your video immediately where you went around the city. These boats have their sweet spot but also limits. Choppy waters are not best since we can't trim the engines. Too much weight, who knows if there was any experience with this type of boat, just a terrible situation all around. Pray for that poor family. God Bless you all.
It’s so important that we all pay attention to the boat’s limits. Anyone will notice that as you start approaching the limit, the handling characteristics will start to change. The Captain should be cautious, aware, and comfortable operating the vessel, especially in waters that they are not familiar with. All we ever want is a fun and SAFE time with family and friends!
Sad, in addition to exceeding weight capacity- was the young boy and other person wear life jackets? I boat on Lake Lanier Georgia and unfortunately there are fatal accidents- user error, speeding and drinking, no life jackets ect.
Yea this is a stark reminder that you have to be cruel to be kind sometimes, some people would have been unhappy if he didn’t take them on the boat, but they would have been alive.
As soon I heard number of occupants... I knew it was user error. I have an AR210 and its max persons in 9 or just under 2K lbs. IDK what the capacity of the newer 240's is but theres no way its 12 or more. Poor people that had no idea and just thought they were going to have a good time by getting on a doomed vessel.
I have an SX210 and it says it accommodates 9 people. Maybe if half those people are children it would be fine. I like to fish from the boat so I move around a lot. I wouldn't have more than 4 on board if I am fishing.
