Doing this job on my 2009 Saab 9-7x and helping me a lot. Had an engine fire that took out everything in engine bay and putting an engine from a donor car. This video is a life saver.
You only need 3 ft. of extension to get those two top transmission bolts. On my 2002 Trailblazer the Charcoal canister is attached to the frame rail on the drivers side, and has to be removed before you can get the transmission crossmember bolts out. It clips in to the bracket, so you have to take a screwdriver, or some other device and pry the clips back to get it to pop out of its mounts. It can be a pain to get it to pop out, and it is hard to get it back in. I put a new one in when I replaced my transmission, and to put it in the mount I grabbed the frame, and used my foot to get enough strength to get it to pop into the mount. That is truly a terrible design for the charcoal canister mount on the 2002.
Man, was going to replace the engine in the trailblazer but now considering you have to disassemble the entire front end, entire engine bay and suspension I'm thinking..... screw this!
@@jaysgarage3616 surprisingly been very easy so far. Hoping I won’t have to pull the front clip. Still haven’t undone the fan but dreading those bolts all the way in the back for the starter and the top 2 tranny bolts but other than that, just about everything else is all loosened up.
It probably would have been easier since it looks like you're going out through the front end because of taking the bumper and the grill off it probably would have been easier to separate the transfer case and pull the engine and transmission together out onto the floor then do your bell bolts and your torque converter bolts that's what I would have done it's a lot easier to separate the transmission from the engine out on the floor if you can pull them both at the same time
Your right , it was a consideration but I choose to leave the trans in for (I thought) simplicity , limited space , hood removal , engine hook up etc. I worked for it to keep it in there but going back together was fast and easy for the most part thankfully.
@@jaysgarage3616 I'm just learning and considering buying a trailblazer that has a blown engine. Thinking it would be easier to pull it all. I know some vehicles it is.
@@ianmarkey9434 Some are for sure , good luck if you decide to purchase and do the swap , it's not the easiest but not to bad either. Top two Transmission bolts Exhaust Bolts Front axle's Those were the 3 things that stuck with me as being a little difficult.
