It’s none of our business how much you spent. Your channel provides such incredible content; I hope the revenue helped pay for it. The final product looks great! I’m truly happy for you.
Wow, Out Back did a really super job! It looks great and whatever you spent is irrelevant if you're happy with it. I've owned homes, boats, campers, motorcycles, etc, and know first-hand that almost everybody customizes their property to suit their needs. So you don't even need to justify the expense to anyone or to yourself. I don't watch Slim Potatohead to see how to be a skinflint, or how to do everything as cheap as possible. We watch to learn from your experiences and to share in your travels. So go out and enjoy that bad boy without having a second thought. It's an awesome rig & you deserve to have something nice to use on your adventures.
@Adymn Sani yes! I watched that video a few months back!! About the tiny house potato! We toured 33 states last year and loved Idaho and Craters of the Moon! We want to go back and hit the tons of hot springs!!!
Enjoyable video. As a Southerner, I wish every horse owner in the South could see those happy, healthy horses standing out in the snow. Down here people put blankets on their horses if it gets into the 40sF.
It's so nice to have a new episode to watch on Tuesday morning while sipping my coffee! Your calm demeanor is therapeutic for me like I'm talking to an old friend. Keep up the great work!
Life is short Slim. If it makes you happy and you can afford it, that's all the thinking required. Love watching your travels. Keep enjoying life. We can all learn something from watching you.
Awesome!! Can't wait to see where you and your "Baked Potato" will go next! I love seeing the world thru your eyes. You show all the good things, flowers, bugs, trees, water features, old stuff, and wildlife. Be Safe and Have Awesome Trips!
If we all focus on being this excited, enthused and deeply happy with our days the world will be a very different place. Looking forward to the next journey.
And bear in mind Slim, you got your trailer the way YOU want it and who knows, maybe other fellow travelers will like your ideas to customize as you have. And you wouldn’t have known the issues you know NOW if you hadn’t gone out on the road.
For what it's worth, I think you've made some very wise decisions. Hind site is always 20/20. Learning is a lot more fun. Good job Slim, I'm happy for you, and it's obvious how pleased you are. It's not like this is just some part time adventure your on, it's basically your home. Safety and piece of mind far excide budget. Hay all that read this post, if you can lets see if we can't help him out a little with a donation. I know of very few more deserving than this gentleman.
At the end of the video, you summed it up. "Yeah, I like it." I have a vintage car that I spend money on and after each improvement, I say the same thing. You are the only one that has to like it and you don't have to justify that with anyone. Congrats.
I strongly suspect Slim & Trillium have already had some conversations/discussions on "Sponsorship". Only time will tell if anything comes out of those discussions.
@Phil Builds, I appreciate the suggestion, however a few have taken it the wrong way and made false accusations of a secret deal. I have no sponsors and am not looking for a sponsor. I paid for these renovations myself plus a little help from my viewers. Those that made false accusations are not welcome here and their comments were removed. Thanks! SP
I am confused why anyone cares if someone providing 5 star content gets anything. You watch a football player who makes millions that you can only watch half the time by paying your cable company. But complain when the guy you get for free might get a deal on something from a company. Slim you rock and if you get something some day from a company you beleive in good for you!!! The rest can be Monday morning quarterbacks. You keep being you. And good job trillium on letting slim film etc. Kudos.
You know what Slim, you spent the money on the thing you like doing the best. Now you know you have a bulletproof unit that will last. Looking forward to seeing you out and about in it !!!
You did very well for yourself. You got what you wanted *and* needed, which is the most important thing. And even if you did go over your budget, you exceeded it for reasons that you were able to justify to yourself, as opposed to spending more money simply because a salesman thought it would be a great thing for you to do. It remains minimalist, but with a significant amount of added safety and durability. You can still hack away on the interior to your heart's content, but you now have a better foundation upon which to hack. Good job.
@@spritsfal5088 Bought my camper far cheaper 8-10k (US) cheaper than what a new comparable unit would cost. Part of it is knowing what to look for. Minimal repairs, upgrades, maintenance I still come out way ahead. New campers are not without issues, it is not unusual for dealers to have units in for warranty work weeks even months at a time. To each his own.🤙
What would be the advantage of a "Slim Edition" over, say a $3500, 12×6' cargo Trailer? Not to say the Slim Edition isn't better, but what are the tradeoffs?
Slim, I definitely didn’t mean any disrespect. I love your videos and they are inspiring me to get out and camp, especially now that I am not working anymore. I just don’t have the skills or confidence to modify as you have done and would purchase a similar build. Keep up the good work and thanks for your efforts.
I’m glad you saved and improved your trailer, it looks great and you did some excellent upgrades. Some people don’t have patience to do what you did but your not like most others, that’s a compliment and a reason people find you and your travels so interesting. Thanks for taking all of us on trips we could never do except through your vision, such a blessing..
So I am just curious what they said about YOUR mods like the shower drain and the solar mounting to the roof. Was that the reason for the leak test? Were they concerned with drilling the roof like you did? Seems to me that all of these guys should be building roof rack mounts for solar these days using best structural practices in the manufacturing.
Hi Mark, Trillium performs a leak test on all their trailers in production. In my case, as there was evidence of leakage, they did it to confirm the problem was solved. Outbacks also come with solar panels as an option. Thanks! SP
Slim, may I suggest that you install a center brake light on the trailer? The spare tire may somewhat obscure one or the other brake lights and a center one may help in avoiding someone running into your beautiful trailer. BTW, thank you for the great videos and the great disposition you have.
Totally agree.... one thing to consider is what is or is not allowed in canada.... they may not allow center brake light.... I rigged a trailer one time and the owner was pulled over as the lights were not the "correct" configuration.... Your idea is sound and quite smart....
Hi Slim, welcome back, I certainly have missed you're video's, i hope to see more adventures soon. I dearly love you're road show, the new places, and seeing you find the right place to park, fixing you're meals, taking you're walks, well just everything, again welcome back, always Elvis Aron 👍❤😊❤⚡P.S. the trailer looks great, loving you're video's ❤⚡
Great remarks and comments, Slim, about YOUR choice to stay with the trailer you have, and make the great mods/changes over buying new. You also have every right to not divulge costs to anyone, that’s a pretty personal matter, although there are many van dwellers and the like, that will. Only you know what’s best for you. I can tell by this video how pleased you at the end result, and how excited you are to travel again. I believe that trailer will stay with you for a long while and keep you warm, cozy AND dry while out on your future adventures. Stay safe!
Slim can confirm it but I think it means adding a zinc cathodic washer to minimize electrolysis & the resulting corrosion when dissimilar metals are in contact with each other. Go look at your water heater. It has a galvanic piece connected between the water pipe & tank that does the same thing.
Slim, love your videos...and some of us really have no idea what these kinds of things cost. Giving a price would absolutely help some of us that are thinking about this lifestyle a better idea.
Looks brand new to me, you have customized it to exactly what you want, and you are happy. I don’t count dollars with my hobbies or passions. Life is too short and you can’t take it with you. Haters gotta hate, ignore them. I have a philosophy that has worked for me in my life: cry once! Don’t skimp and buy crap that you will have to replace again in a few years, then you are crying again. And again. It cracks me up that people will go to Black Friday sales, get pushed around by unruly crowds, all to save 20 bucks on a no name product cheaply made in China that will last about three weeks. Not worth it. Happy trails to you Slim!
I remember, Slim, when I bought the planing monohull sailboat I'd been drooling over and the maker delivered it the dealership in Cocoa Bch, FL. I handled and raced it with kid gloves and never really enjoyed it-until I ran it up on a bed of oyster shoals. The fussing was then over and fun began. So glad you're having having FUN with the Trillium. Spoke with Joe in Calgary recently about getting an Outback of my own. Yes, I think a nearly new one with a prominent scratch somewhere ought to fit the bill. Voyage on in good health, fellow traveler. Richard.
Looks fantastic! Love the two tone and the front tongue box. I think you made the absolute right decision about the frame. If you get the old frame redone, there will always be back in your mind, "Can I really trust the frame?" And everything you said about used, I completely agree with it. I bought a 2014 Ford F150 XL with a cap primarily because I new if I bought newer, and more importantly, a higher end model, I'd be far less inclined to drill holes, or mount things inside the cab or the bed. And another thing about buying new is, if it's custom, then you generally get all the mods you want to start with, and there's no real need to make changes once you take delivery. Good job by Trilliam, and looking forward to more adventures in your "new" trailer.
She is looking great Slim. Can’t wait to see you on the road again. Let’s hope Covid is gone soon and they open the border, if not it will be Newfoundland and Labrador. Hahahahaha Cheers!!!
Oh, Slim, she looks better than new! You always come up with over-the-top ideas that are so attractive and functional. Love the new color and roughed-up texture. When someone asks how much I paid for something, I always smile and say, “Too much” then change the subject. I’m so happy for you.👍🏻👍🏻
WOW SLIM!!!!!!!! SHE'S BEAUTIFUL!! Like new!! Great job. Money well spent honey!! It's your home away from home after all. And learning experiences are always beneficial. Congrats!
The price is almost irrelevant, Slim. These fiberglass clamshell trailers can easily last decades if you treat them well, like you did getting those holes patched up. You may never buy another one. It's hard to put a price on getting this dialed in to exactly what you want, since you'll also extract tons of value from it.
WOW, really like the color scheme and rock guard protection. The aluminum frame though is awesome...high speed low drag. Look forward to your future adventures 👍
These are fantastic modifications and I love the look. Who cares about the cost. Nobody's business Slim. Hope to enjoy some new and exciting adventures soon. Be safe out there.
Dear Slim Potato Head I'm a big fan of your videos I always enjoy watching your camping videos. I am also interested in ammo can stoves and make my own. I get a lot of tips from your videos. I introduced you to your video when making Unit 2 this time, and I hope you will continue to give me a lot of good tips. I have great respect for you Thank you.
She looks Fantastic! The peace of mind that she is now in the best shape possible is well worth the expense, IMHO. The extras you did get are well considered for your needs and very practical. BTW, I really enjoyed the backdrop of the lovely horses in your exterior shot! My beloved horse died at the end of February this year and it left a void in my heart and soul. Videos like yours, and others, have gone a long way in re-connecting me to the beautiful people and places out there. Thanks for sharing your adventures and experiences you have on this glorious and precious planet we share. Take care and Happy Trails! From Florida with much appreciation.
I love the all redone camper, it look great! That's a good idea with the rock guard coating, and I like the aluminum frame... no rust for you! I look forward to your future videos, happy camping! :)
I find it interesting that an individual purchased a trailer and contacts the manufacturer only to find out they are very willing to help with design ideas and feedback from Slim. If I was the manufacturer I want all the suggestions, ideas and real usage that my products are getting to make better products and to have good customer relations, Many companies are just interested in your money and BS you just to get you to buy their stuff and when you find out its got issues you can't even get a response when you call/email them. Slim you did good with your purchase and I support your ideas and comments, Keep doing what you do, Love from North Myrtle Beach..
Slim, I think you made the right decisions for you! You said it best when you held up your drill. Much of your joy seems to come from customizing it to fit your needs and desires. I applaud you for that! Looking forward to the next adventure.
The feminist in me wants to comment on the “every girl” plus the “need for a facelift.” I love aged faces. The roadmaps of our lives. Being healthy as we age, now that’s the ticket! Maturity adds depth to life’s experiences. Embrace yourself! At every stage of life - and please embrace other naturally aging women.
Sister visiting from Canada down with Covid (she didn't bring it, we shared it) and this made her day! Her Pro Master conversion is sitting lonely in the drive way. Little bit of excitement to hit the road, and a little comfort from one of her favorite (and mine) Canadians....Thanks Slim!
Hey Slim!! Your trailer looks great! How nice that you could redo her with your needs in mind and make it happen. I think you will so enjoy your old/new trailer. Be safe and God bless! I’m ready for a Slim video!!!♥️❣️♥️
Kudos to Trillium for doing a beautiful repair/upgrade job on your older rig, and not just telling you to buy a new one! From where I sit Slim, I think you've got the best of all worlds. You've got a brand new heavy-duty frame, suspension and tires, you've got the shell tailored exactly to your specifications, you've got the shell rock-chip protected and painted so it looks like new, but it's not so "new" you're afraid to take it down the bumpy dirt road. Good decisions all around Slim. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos of your travels in your refurbished trailer!
As always, another great video. Slim, as long as it works for you that's all that matters. The rest of us are lucky that you share such honest insights. We get to learn from your many successful attempts and fairly rare flubs. You know, "scatological events occur".😁 You're a pathfinder not only in your travels but also in your mods and experiments. I always look.forward to seeing your next production. Thanks!
Looks great Slim! Yup, that’s always the thing about buying new, you’re more cautious about doing mods. My PopUp Camper was purchased new in 2016 and I still look for ways to do/add things without putting her under the knife.
⭐ WOW!!!⭐ The trailer l👀ks great, Slim... I've have one question, since they covered the rear quarter panels, is there access to that area from the inside or is it just dead airspace now...🤔💨🤔
