Autumn is a great time for a day trip to the Blue Mountains by train. It is approximately a 2 hour trip.
The journey started from Central Station in Sydney and our first stop was Leura Station for a stroll around the lovely shops and a stop for a hearty breakfast with a view. It is then a short bus ride to Katoomba town centre to check out the town and cafes.
Your Opal card words on the bus network which will take you to all the attractions of the Blue Mountains. We caught the bus to Echo Point which is the lookout for the Three Sisters. We then caught the train from Katoomba back to Sydney.

Catching the train was a great idea. No worries about driving on strange roads with strange drivers gives you a better chance to see the scenery. I was a bit surprised that when you boarded at Central, you went to the lower deck - much better views from upstairs. It's better to buy lunch at a cafe in Katoomba than at Echo Point - cheaper and I've found the style and quality in Katoomba is more to my liking. You may prefer that at Echo Point and of course the view there is much better. Travelling a couple of stops beyond Katoomba brings you to Blackheath. Great views on the journey and then at Blackheath itself just a short walk south-west from the station. Good places for lunch in Blackheath itself. A bus ride will take you to Govett's Leap with a different set of views down into the Grose Valley and eastwards to Mt Hay. Not many overseas tourists find their way there. Some tips for others: sit upstairs on the train and with the full width of the window beside you. Try to sit on the lefthand side as you head out and again as you return - that will give you the best views. Have a great time.

An excellent clip. Liked the way you included so much of Leura and Katoomba in it. Many people only do Echo Point and the Scenic Railway. So many great bush walks there too.

Nice video. And I compliment you on the music. So many of these travel videos are spoiled by inappropriate music. I've done the Central - Blue Mountains train ride several times. In fact I lived in the Blue Mountains - Glenbrook, for a while. You can do a return trip from Central to Katoomba, the main tourist centre, easily as a day trip. It takes a while to go through the sprawling western suburbs of Sydney (at least an hour), but once you get beyond Penrith, the outer Sydney suburb, it gets really nice. Beyond Penrith you cross the beautiful Nepean River, the last station before the Blue Mountains being Emu Plains. Then on upward through Lapstone, the first station in the moutains, then my station Glenbrook, then Blaxland and on into the central part of the Blue Mountains. I always particularly enjoyed the ride between Penrith and Blaxland as the train crawls up into the mountains. The Blue Mountains covers a huge area. There are some amazing walks. I recommend a trip, even a day trip, if you are staying in Sydney.

Thanks, I’m hoping to catch the train down to Dubbo for video project when I find some free time. It should be a good train ride.

How much train fee from central station to Katoomba on weekdays?

It depends on what time you leave in the morning weekdays. It's cheaper off-peak which is generally after 9am. Generally it's around $7.00 - $10.00. You can walk from the station to the the look out (Echo Point) or use your transport travel card (Opal Card) to take the bus around all the main attractions. (all public transport can accept a credit / debit card to tap on and off ).
