DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME! Some commenters have expressed concerns about this video, and the issue of using electricity with water. There was NO DANGER involved with my personal setup, but to be absolutely safe, please don't try this yourself. At the very least, this WILL destroy your model trains, despite how well the Heljan Tango worked.

You know, since the trucks were able to float to the surface, I think they could make very good life boats. While the locomotive stays submerged in the water like the Titanic, or some of those Stanier 8f locos that were lost at sea and sunk while being imported abroad.

Totally irresponsible posting a video like this that you know kids are going to watch and try to replicate .
@SamsTrains
@SamsTrains 5 лет назад
In the unlikely event that a child is allowed to replicate this "experiment", the worst case scenario would be damage to their models. To my knowledge, there's no possibility of receiving a meaningful (much less dangerous or fatal) electric shock from an isolated 19v 0.5A DC power supply as used by Hornby in their train sets.
@GowertonParkway
@GowertonParkway 5 лет назад
As a parent , I know how stupid kids can be . It doesn’t matter what they are allowed or not allowed to do , they will try and copy things that people they look up to on RU-vid do . You are running power from a mains supply into water , it’s totally irresponsible posting this when you know damn well what a large portion of your audience is !
@sgkingly8392
@sgkingly8392 5 лет назад
@@GowertonParkway The power supply may be 230V 50hz AC but it is stepped down to 19V DC and at most 0.5A. This is not enough current and potential difference to do any damage to a human. The worst you would feel if you got an electric shock is a slight tingling if that.
@GowertonParkway
@GowertonParkway 5 лет назад
Sg Kingly I’m fully aware of the the voltages in question . You are missing the point . It’s electricity into water . If Kids replicate this in their garden , how do they get a power source to their paddling pool ? Via an extension lead which carries mains voltage . The problem here is that children watch this channel and will not carry this out safely. It’s irresponsible click bait being posted by the channel I’m afraid.

I dunno if the engine will ever run again but hopefully those wagons are salvageable - should have used Ocean wagons for the pun potential, though. =P The poor Tango certainly put up a fight in the end! I suspect this first impressive performance from it might be its last, though. If it ever returns to the layout I suspect it'll be as a Tan*ghost*, ooOOooo~ ...if you did custom work that could actually be a fun project. Some bad rusting, growths of coral and barnacles, a plume of bubbles coming from the smokestack... ...honestly it's making me feel artistic but I'm no good with any visual mediums.
@SamsTrains
@SamsTrains 5 лет назад
Yes absolutely - it all still works absolutely fine, even the engine! The Ocean wagons are largely metal, and I was worried about them rusting :( Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Okay, so you have done underwater railways Sam. I think you need a bigger challenge. Perhaps it is time to go into space. Forget the Heljan O4, unless you want to see it float away. I think you might need an old Hornby loco with magnadhesion to counteract the lack of gravity.
@SamsTrains
@SamsTrains 5 лет назад
Ooh I like it - I'd love to send a loco into space - preferably this one! ;D Thanks for watching - Sam :)

I have some good news, I am still able to do the series but it will be done with Trainz Driver 2( Trainz Simulator for iOS) but most of the locomotives I want cost 0.99 to 1.99 dollars but hey at least I don’t have to pay 20-30 dollars for a coach or truck when I could get a ton of engines with rolling stocks in the game
@SamsTrains
@SamsTrains 5 лет назад
That's very understandable mate - I'm sure it'll be really good! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)

The last part gave me an idea. What about doing tests to see what locos and rolling stock are the best to have on a coastal railway? Incase of a rouge tidal wave. You could test to see what derails and what doesn’t. how much it takes to derail them. And how far they travel when hit. And another idea is someone (maybe your self has to make the worlds first aquarium with a railway inside of it! Great video.
@SamsTrains
@SamsTrains 5 лет назад
haha that'd be very awesome - but putting water anywhere near your models will destroy them! This video suggested otherwise - but without immediate attention, this Tango would have been destroyed within hours! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

I wouldn't do this to my 0 4 0 but I would make a tunnel which is very similar to what you see in an aquarium that would look quite cool.
