Perfect timing, got the flu and it took me out for damn near a week. Getting back to baseline is definitely a mental game for me .

I started lifting before covid hit. After covid hit, the kids were constantly bringing something home from day care/school. We were sick probably every 5 weeks. It would take me 2 weeks to even get back to lifting at all. You name it, we probably had it multiple times over two years. I was struggling so bad, mentally, to get back to where i was. When i finally hit my new max on bench press. It all happened again. I was only able to work out on weekends due to working up to 16 hours a day. And just having a lot going on. It took me a year to get back to my max. I just started adding in a protein shake a few weeks ago since i eat like crap. But I'm setting new pr's all the time. I want to see a 405 bench someday. But due to health issues, i don't know if i will. And I'm still struggling with that. I have good days and bad days, but you do have to push yourself to get back into it, and never give up. Wish i saw this video a few years ago, it probably would've made things easier. I keep trying to keep my dad motivated with his workouts, at almost 69 years old he hit 265 on his bench press. He's giving up on everything else except golf and lifting weights. I don't golf so i try to go to the gym with him as much as possible. Thanks for the video.

I've just hit the mid fifties age mark. Just got over the flu and it seems to be taking forever to get back at it.

no need to go lower just because you had a week of, you will not have lost much ir anything technique/nevrological wise, and your energy should be higher.

Are you going to get sore after only a week off? Probably 2 weeks you would, and certainly a month.
