Trains Around Philadelphia's 30th Street Station

On April 6th, we catch a selection of the action available to the railfan at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station. The main Amtrak station for Philly, 30th Street is also one of the busiest stations on the SEPTA commuter rail network and hosts NJ Transit as the western terminus of the Atlantic City Line. The CSX Philadelphia Subdivision lies just across the river to the east, while the High Line viaduct, used by CSX, Norfolk Southern, and Conrail, parallels the Northeast Corridor tracks to the west.

Wow, you have a great catalog of videos on this channel, it really surprised me. 30th Street Station is one of my top 3 favorite spots on the Northeast Corridor because of how close it is to me and the volume of trains you can catch. There's also lots of great angles you can get of trains from the Amtrak parking lot and you can also see the Avelia Liberty train sets sitting in Penn Coach Yard waiting to be put into service. Being able to catch NS and CSX from the Amtrak Parking lot is nice too. Amway I have a few questions, did you even go down to the parking lot level bellow floor 1? (It's 4 floors bellow the passenger bridge to 30th Street). You can get some great up close and personal shots of the trains pulling into 30th Street Station without having to lean over that barrier above the tracks at the parking lot. I also really liked the lens you used. I've run out of zoom quite a lot on my own lens and I'd be curious what lens and what camera you use for these videos. Finally, do you a tripod for filming or do you just film handheld most of the time. Just curious what you prefer because I saw a little bit of shaking at 2:20 (the shake is negligible btw). Thanks. P.S. I'd recommend a wind cut, there's a lot of wind noise in your video :)

Where did you take the video from because I'm going to Philadelphia in a few weeks and I want to see the train yard to see if there any Aviela liberty

@amtraktrainsproductions5032 Cross the pedestrian bridge from 30th Street Station into the Amtrak parking lot and the stairs should nearby where you put in your parking tickets. The pedestrian bridge to the Amtrak parking lot is nearby the SEPTA reginal rail lines. If you still can't find it ask for directions from someone in 30th Street Station to the large Amtrak parking lot. I'm guessing they were filming from the very top of the Amtrak parking lot given the amount of wind noise in the video. If you have any questions feel free to ask me :)

@drewschlecker3194 Yes it it. I call it the Amtrak parking lot but it may have another name since its connect to a high rise office building. If you want to get there cross the pedestrian bridge from 30th Street Station into the Amtrak parking lot and the stairs should nearby where you put in your parking tickets. The pedestrian bridge to the Amtrak parking lot is nearby the SEPTA reginal rail lines. If you still can't find it ask for directions from someone in 30th Street Station to the large Amtrak parking lot. If you have any questions feel free to ask me :)
