Filmed on 03/12/2016. It is that time of the year when it is the time getting to be jolly and merry, welcome to Lincoln Central.
Whilst on the way to Lincoln Central travelling from Doncaster on 158866, found out that The Lindum Fayre was cancelled that morning. This was because whilst working an ECS movement from Southall to London Kings Cross at Mitre Bridge Junction, a coupling had snapped resulting in splitting the train.
The Lindum Christmas Fayre from Tyseley to Lincoln Central via Nottingham was cancelled as well due to gauging issues at the Nottingham area.
Despite the day been suspended of steam, there was a load of additional services and unusal trains and quite a few freight. At this station, we see Virgin Trains East Coast, East Midlands Trains and Arriva Rail North heading for a variety of destinations including: Sheffield, Adwick, Newark Northgate, Doncaster, Peterborough, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, London Kings Cross and Grimsby Town.
Arriva Rail North were still sending down their pacers to be used on Scunthorpe to Lincoln Central, paired up pacers for most of the day was a good idea but still full and standing. Arriva Rail North for the day should have been running local hauled services even from Sheffield to reduce the overcrowded services.
A good selection of freight trains as well we also saw so all in all, the day wasn't wasted because of the additional services and freight.
East Midlands Trains had the best plans of running HST's and 222 meridian used on their Derby/Sheffield services as well as having 222014 on the Lincoln Central to Nottingham local stopping train.
For the next outing which will be next Saturday 10/12/2016, there is another track side location of York Holgate Sidings where (fingers crossed) there is double steam tours: 46233 Duchess Of Sutherland The Christmas White Rose from London Kings Cross also 5043 Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe from Tyseley.
