The faster you spin something with Create, the more SU it takes. Your limiting factor here is your Stress Capacity. To keep the speed the same and add one more waterwheel or use a windmill. Instead you could lower the speed with less cogs, or make a Rotation Speed Controller for more precise control. When using cogs to change speed you can only double or half the speed. With a Rotation Speed Controller, you can get much more precise. Your best speed for your lift at your current Stress Capacity will probably be 96rpm. If you still find it overstressed, then you may need to add more power after all. You can increase the efficiency of your existing waterwheels in two ways. One way is to place a block behind the wheels so your water runs over the top of the wheels and loops back around under them. If that's not enough you can change the block you placed to soul sand to make a bubble elevator behind the wheel to make it produce more power as well. If you have lots of trouble, reach out to your fellow Steampunks for assistance. I am sure they would be glad to provide some information to help out. If all else fails though maybe hijack some power from Tango's power plant on Industry Island lol.

[Steam whistle info] if on a train and you are using the train controls, press Left Ctrl to make it whistle. if not on a train then, have a heat source either fire or a blaze burner under a fluid tank (the blaze burner does not need fuel to make the whistle work). you can also make them more or less *thick* and therefore a lighter or deeper sound with use of a wrench by right clicking on the steam whistle.
@entropic-decay
@entropic-decay Год назад
you can also add more steam whistle blocks to a given whistle by right-clicking its face with them, with that changing the pitch. the thickness of a given whistle determines its octave, with the length determining its note within that octave.
@AshEshyr
@AshEshyr Год назад
for steam whistles any heat block will work, so magma blocks, lava blocks, campfires, etc. all the blocks that allow a passive level steam engine can be used for static whistles

For the elevator, the pulley is what's causing it to overstress. Things like gearboxes and shafts don't create any stress. If you want to control the speed without having to do a ton of gear ratios, you can get a rotational speed controller to... well, control the speed. As for the stress though, you can use a stressometer to check how many SU's you have, and you can increase the amount of SU's with more power sources like extra waterwheels or windmills. Also, the train looks amazing!
@zockingtroller7788
@zockingtroller7788 Год назад
Other people have also said this, but waterwheels can be strengthened by having water flowing on top of them and having bubble columns pushing on the back side (the soul sand can even be clipping into the wheel)

Tango's powerplant down in the valley has a dripstone lava farm down in the basement; I don't think he would mind too much if you nicked a few buckets. Also, the Hose Pulley (which sucks up liquid blocks out of the environment) considers any body of liquid that contains more than 10,000 source blocks to be infinite, so you could use a Hose Pulley to farm as much lava as you need out of the Nether lava oceans, or from the giant lava storage pit that Tango is digging for that purpose.
@EightOneFive
@EightOneFive Год назад
Feel better Keralis! Couple people already mentioned, but dripstone is the best for passive lava generation pumped into a large tank. Tango has a lava farm under his steam power station. He's also working on creating an infinite lava source under his factory that you could probably pull from, but would be tricky with the pumps needed.

Hey Keralis! To make the steam whistle choo choo, you just press control (ctrl) when controlling the train, no need to power it. im so excited for this episode! maybe this is addressed further in the episode but hey im only 4 minutes in right now, but: regarding the water wheel being the 'wrong' way round, i think that refers to its relation to the water itself - if the water goes OVER the top of the wheels, they will be able to harness more power.

LOTS OF FUN - shortening the engine/tender length will improve the visual turning corners; try separating these into two pieces like real steam trains and it will articulate as it turns; when you are ready for a production model, build the tender for fuel like the tanks Tango used in the factory, fill the engine boiler with coal via connection between the engine and tender, fill the tender tank with coal blocks/lava like Tango takes the cobblestone off the conveyor belt at the factory using a large tank and "kissy" connection from the side of the trank (same for water if it actually uses it); fill the lava tank using an underground dripstone into cauldron setup like now below Tango's steam power plant

Hey Keralis, if you're still having performance drops from other Create contraptions, try changing your Flywheel rendering engine to "batching" instead of the default "instance" setting. It makes a huge difference when you have multiple contraptions all loaded and moving at once, especially if you plan on having a lot of curved railroad tracks in your world. I think the command is like: /flywheel backend batching

For your smelter thing, the brass filters are really smart and you can program them based on properties of the items. So in your case, you can set the filter to accept only items that cannot be smelted. That way, you don't have to add every item 1 by 1 onto a filter, it will just be smart and hold all items until they are done cooking

The fluid tank works like a cauldron, you can right click on it with a bucket to fill or empty it, so the cauldron on the roof is completely unnecessary. You could also use pipes and pumps that go through the walls and directly into the spout, so that you don't need a fluid tank and a pump on top of it. There would need to be a larger fluid tank hidden somewhere else which supplies that spout and any future things that require fluids, which could be connected to the same tank. I hope you get well soon, and I'm excited for the next episode!

Love the Flying Scotsman train design Keralis, looks amazing A few suggestion to add to the train design would be a campfire near the steam funnel, so it looks like smoke is coming out of it too. Also I don't if the steam engine is required for the train, but a furnace built inside the cabin could add some nice interior design for the train to give it a more steam train look. Keep up the amazing work.

i wouldn't worry about the train being too big, it's kinda like a wolf or a moose, everybody knows they're big, but nobody really realizes HOW big until they meet them in person, so a good rule of thumb for visualizing these big things is to picture how big it is, and scale it up at least double

Absolutely love the Scotsman engine. Probably should have the Fuel cart as a separate cart and use the front and back bogeys on the engine instead of the two back ones to help smooth out the overhang affect on corners (Will still be a bit strange as the middle bogeys will slightly slide out in corners, but will look much better than the current effect). Also try to build tracks with as wide turning as possible (Hold sprint to smooth out turns while placing) to make it both more realistic and to help mitigate this effect further.

Former rail yard worker here! The reason your train seems a bit derpy when making corners is because, like IRL trains, these trains need along slow sloping turns. Going around too sharp of a turn leaves the body of your train looking weird, while the parts that actually propel it forward are adhered to the track.

9:42 weak link is always power generation - you can place more water source blocks around the water wheels to get more SU. The wheels can run the cogs fast but have nothing to power so they go max speed, but the second you attach something that takes power (the rope pulley) it overstresses it. That means either up the power generation, or cut down on the speed.

If I could help you out, driving around corners would look better if you unglued the tender from the engine and used couplings. That way the rotate around their own centers instead of being one massive unit. Also, consider designing your curves like regulation tracks with very gradual turns.

I'm so excited for what is about to come with this series. Imagine keralis driving the train all around the other people's base.

A idea to get lava later on would be for a train to deliver it from a station in the nether, because a large enough lava lake in the nether would count as a infinite lava source, tango has a pit filled with enough lava for it it count as a infinite source so he could probably help in finding a large enough lava lake.
