Transform Flour into Seitan: The Perfect Meat Substitute (Vegan)

Where do vegans get their protein?
Seitan is a meat substitute loved by vegetarians and vegans. The first mention of this type of preparation appears in the 6th century. Chinese Buddhists consumed it as an alternative to meat.
Seitan is an important source of protein.
This variant is perfect for use in recipes containing ground meat: cabbage rolls, lasagna, pizza.

Ingredients:
1 kg white flour
550 ml water
Wash the dough, changing the water 4-5 times until all the starch is removed and only the gluten, the protein, remains.
Wrap it in parchment paper and then in aluminum foil.
Steam for 50 minutes.
And from there, let your imagination run wild, ground seitan is very good for cabbage rolls, lasagna, pizza sauce, seasoned to your liking.
If you have problems digesting gluten, avoid this product.
The word "seitan" is originally Chinese, but it has been adopted into English. Seitan is made from wheat gluten, which is the proteinous part of wheat flour. Seitan is a high-protein, low-fat food that is also a good source of iron and fiber. Seitan can be found in many grocery stores, bit homemade is cheaper!
