i've used this cooking method before, and it's not necessary to switch the position of the sausages, but if you're that concerned, then you can put a plate on top of them to hold them all under water. Also, that's one hell of a lot of aluminum foil, way too much. You probably could have used about 1/2 that amount if not 1/3! The recipe looks good tho, and i'll probably try it.
I didn’t try baking them but I think you can. Usually seitan is baked wrapped(for a chewier texture), at 350°F (175°C) for 45-60 minutes. Remove the wrapping in the last 10 minutes of baking to allow the top to brown slightly.
So happy to hear that. If you want to taste more like breakfast sausage you can play with spices, add sage, thyme, some brown sugar and a little more ground black pepper for a bit of heat. Mostly the sage is a hallmark of breakfast sausage, giving it a distinctive, slightly earthy flavour. I didn’t try but now I am curious too 😄
Most grateful for this video showing us how Seitan is done! I love the homemade version, it is so tasty and it can be prepared in a variety of ways. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟:)
Hi! You can improvise and adapt the recipe according to your taste, but there is a great possibility that the difference will be in the final product, as well as texture, consistency or taste.
The flour you see in this recipe is vital wheat gluten. Vital wheat gluten is primarily protein, with around 75 grams per 100 grams serving. It contains a very small amount of carbohydrates, typically around 1-2 grams per 100 grams serving.
Tried this and am blown away how good it is! I added a few drops of liquid hickory smoke and it is delicious….wow!! Slice it thin and have on homemade sandwich bread with tomato and pickles or mustard, just soooo good! Thankyou for a brilliant recipe🙏
Dip it to Greek tzatziki sauce or Indian Raita. It is excellent! Actually my husband is India and I am Greek, we both cook both kitchen, and we agree on tis one 100%. Do try it at least once :-)
