one of my favorite scenes. i love seeing wide shots of the transformers fighting, you can pick out so many little details that the animators crafted into these fight scenes that you dont pick up on first or even second viewing.
I don’t care what direction this franchise went in. This film will always be my favourite and this will always be one of my favourite endings to an action film. I just love the intensity and the raw emotions from the characters
I like this film but I feel like they wasted Sentinels potential in this movie like come on you bring a good guy back only to then sike he a villain now like come on!
If only we got the original ending like in the novel where Optimus spared Megatron, and they teamed up on Sentinel, and left each other in peace, then I would’ve liked this movie a lot more.
This movie really does feel like the end of a war. There’s desperation, boundaries of good and evil are crossed and meddled, and it’s not just a battle of ideologies: now it’s purely a fight for survival. The movie is a slow burn before this moment but damn is it worth it
I’d agree, people would see the war crimes happening in this film but personally I’d see this entire war as a full desperation in wanting to survive. It shows how far either side would go to reach their goals, it all feels chaotic, relentless, unbridled. I LOVE it.
Megaton offered a truce to Optimus how is that cool to see someone get brutally murdered by someone who want the freedom for all being except decepticons they can all die in Optimusus eyes

It truly is disappointing to see how far Sentinel Prime has fallen. Even going as far as to beg Optimus Prime to spare him when he’s at his mercy even after everything he did. You can’t really blame Optimus for killing him the way he did.
I love the fact that nest soldiers and the autobots are backing up prime instead of letting him handle it himself goes to show they are willing to help prime
It’s like a holographic thing, the ability that allows them to switch and copy any car model. When they’re in vehicle mode the technology is like a hologram
I remember watching Dark of the moon as a kid and thinking it was the most incredible movie I had ever seen. Looking back at it now, it wasn't the best movie, but I still love it for the nostalgia and epic moments! Plus the story wasn't all that bad. The NASA conspiracy plot was actually pretty brilliant in my mind.
Optimus shows true courage in battle and never turns away from a fight. Sentinel just runs off in cowardice and calls for backup to help him. Just like Megatron.
I mean.... if you getting attacked by optimus plus all of the auto bots plus the humans..... retreating seems like the only sensible thing to do if you want to survive
People who complained about Optimus not acting like Optimus in this film should remember something: No matter how long a fuse someone has, there's still a bomb at the end of it.
Honestly I think they did optimus justice in this film. He still values freedom, he is still a badass and this is the only film where he gets an axe(his true weapon). How hard is it to give optimus the axe?
Actually pretty close to what’s their real relationship.They always said they were like brothers (Tf1 & Tf TLK) and megaton acts more like the little brother who wants to destroy stuff and Optimus is the older one looking out for megaton so that he wouldn’t do to much damage xD
This was literally me on Christmas Eve when I was playing plants vs zombies garden warfare 2 and I was on zombies. We were down by 15 and I chose my main none other then foot soldier. Smoked everyone and eventually got us back in the lead right after.
On god, this trilogy is absolutely incredible. Yeah, it’s very Michael Bay, but for a Transformers film during this time in the late 2000’s, very very good. The animation beats animation even today, and action scenes are just incredible. The voice actors, even the human actors. Just so iconic. Also seeing Optimus fly in joining all the other Autobots, leading them into battle is so badass. Especially whenever Sam screams Optimus. So iconic.
The last 30 min or so of this movie imo is the best action sequence out of all 3. The first was the best but DOM is up for debate too 😂. I’ve noticed a lot of small details that i never noticed years ago after watching again just now 🙏🏽
Never cared much for the first one, but I may have to rewatch it again to tell for sure. I absolutely adored Dark of the Moon's final battle for Chicago, though. It was pretty much pitch perfect, from the street battles, to the skyscraper sniping, to the wingsuit infiltration, to Shockwave wrecking any and everything until Optimus showed up. Really great stuff.
Megatron should have made peace with Optimus and ended this war. In Transformers 3, we can see clearly, that he is tired. This would have been a good character developpment and better than killing him in a foolish way
can we agree that out of all the Bayformer movies Dark of the Moon has a better visuals and CGI than the rest.... especially this shot 0:12 they nailed it
As much as I love this movie, upon hearing the alternate ending where optimus and megatron team up to defeat sentinel and then megatron returns to cybertron, I really want that to happen and to have a different transformers 4. In this version of T4, the same thing has happened, KSI is hunting autobots and making their own transformers. However, in this version optimus (who had his 1-3 movie form) reaches out to megatron (who has got his body from T5 after rebuilding himself back on cybertron). A war begins with the KSI bots with the autobots and the deceptions joining forces. We get to see optimus and megatron fighting as more of a team and slowly but surely megaton starts bringing out the darker side of optimus. He gets more brutal and, like the original, says that hes going to kill the head of KSI, with megatron goading him on. But with galvatron no longer leading the KSI bots who will lead them. Maybe another Transformer that, in some cannon is built by humans. Enter nemesis prime. He could even use Galvatron's "and that Is why I have no fear" line A huge battle issues which ultimately results in optimus destroying his dark doppelganger and realising that this heartless version of himself is what he is barrelling towards, the version of him that megatron brings out. When confronted with the leader of KSI, optimus raises his cannon, ready to fire. But he can't do it. Megatron try to convince him to from the background but optimus lowers his weapon. And that's when megatron plasma cannon disintegrates the man. Optimus horrified, is in a stand off with megatron, neither one of them wanting to throw the first hit. Eventually, realising the destruction optimus had brought by bringing megatron back to earth, he strikes first. A emotionally compromised battle insues resulting in megatron being the victor, perhaps even severing optimus' arm like sentinel did in 3. But he doesn't kill him. He simply lowers his charged plasma Cannon and spits "we were brothers once", and before optimus can reply, he transforms and leaves for cybertron leaving optimus beaten and exhausted on the closing credits. (I also think this could lead well into a transformers 5 where megatron could be corrupted by unicron or something before he leaves earth's atmosphere, setting up unicron to be the next big bad for potentially a new trilogy)
That's honestly incredible. Seems like quite a simple plot compared to dark of the moon but it's perfect in its simplicity. And to see a side to prime and megs relationship that rarely gets shown would be amazing

Yeah, Earth or Unicron was far too close to Cybertron's Roche Limit. Everyone is lucky that Cybertron's tidal forces didn't shred the Earth apart and become a ring system

Agree. You can tell this was supposed to be the end but Paramount wanted more and that’s how we got 4/5 both garbage and mess up so much story from 1-3.
Despite of all the hatred this franchise received over the years (much deserved with its 5th installment i´ll add), DOTM has always held a special place in my heart; over a decade later it still stands as one the best action movies Hollywood has ever pulled out, and yes, I´m accounting for Terminator 2. The feeling you got after seeing this movie in cinemas is unmatched to this day.
I love how Optimus gradually loses his weaponry as he fights his way through the Decepticon horde. This scene seems to show how desperately and bravely he is willing to fight, even if he and his comrades lose. A true hero and leader!
0:04 bee casually walking forward while shooting like its no big deal 2:46 bee with the smooth moves 3:38 this has been a big moment in my memory every time i play fight with my brother we say these lines its kinda funny 5:56 i legit cried when i first watched this 6:58 bee again with the smooth moves after finishing the movie i realized that the blue autobot guy wouldn't have died if optimus just cut himself free when he got tangled in the scene prior to this one
You know, with the crazyness of the franchise, I'm happy I got the first three movies. To me this was the end of a great era for Transformers as Black Ops 2 was the end of an awesome era for CoD. This is the type of movies one will enjoy shutting his brain off after a long day's work and just chill.
I still get Goosebumps when Sam Cries out Optimus. It is a cry of Despair & Hope for a saviour up above. And boy how Optimus Prime delivered it by massacring the Decepticons 😂
This is my favorite scene in the entire trilogy for big reasons! Optimus kills Megatron and Sentinal because he’s sick of the war, sick of his friends being killed, he’s sick of the two faced bots, and he’s not letting Megatron go! Put yourself in his position: Megatron destroyed Cybertron and killed many of his friends, the moment they began battle for the Allspark on earth Jazz was ripped in half, Megatron returns later and kills Optimus himself, now Sentinal returns and immediately betrays the Autobots killing Ironhide and probably many more bots we didn’t see in DOTM. What do you expect him to do, Warn them and let them go? Not a chance! He did exactly what he should’ve done… kill them!
but actually megatron didnt want to destroy cybertron, he wanted to bring cybertron in its glory again but in a violent way and him as a king of the planet
When winning the fight: "We were gods once, all of us! But here...there can only be one!" When laying on the ground, beaten and wounded: "Optimus, all I ever wanted was the survival of our race..." Dude.
The greatest story and action of all transformers movies I cried rewatching this clip , I really hope Rise of the Beast brings the same energy , nostalgia , and epicness that this movie did and I hope it can light that spark in me as this movie did !
I love these films for creating such iconic moments and awesome action. I love the Bumblebee Movie, but I grew up with bayformers. So epic. Such a cool gritty take on the transformers.
As for why he killed Megatron, you have to understand. If even Sentinel Prime, his mentor, the guy who Optimus said to have taught him that freedom is everyone's right, betrays him, ANYONE can betray him.
Can I just point out the comedy more specifically in the first hour of this movie is pure GOLD, and yes the action and cinematography is BLISS, just havent seen many say about the comedy. Hands down my 2nd favourite Transformers movie for sure! 😀💯

say what you want about this franchise but 3 was epic af and when it came out I was a kid and I was so hyped by this and I mean if a movie makes u feel good and excited then... it's not bad, it achieved what it wanted and never pretended to be a philosophical masterpiece
