I love how, even after 13 years, the CGI of the transformers themselves is still flawless. They look 100% REAL. Truly some of the best work ILM has ever done.
Gotta love the way Optimus immediately sets a different tone compared to Barricade. He approaches cautiously, kneels without looming over the smaller humans, and the first thing he does after asking Sam’s identity is provide his own. He describes his species and names their home. And while the two humans might be overawed they also now have a vital bit of knowledge that reassures them. Optimis Prime is saying ‘we have names. We have a people. We have a home. Like you do.’
Optimus: yes, I’m aware that you’re not used to giant robots. Let’s just keep calm, and I’ll explain myself and our kind clearly so you can process what’s happening and understand us. Barricade: HARRYDIDYOUPUTYOURNAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIRE?!?!
Nicholas Trevino II Exactly. There was something so breathtaking about the first trilogy that not even Bumblebee could accomplish (it’s still a great movie). It’s unfortunate that Bay and the writers decided to push special effects and CGI fights over a proper storyline during the last few films.
It always sends multiple chills down my spine. And then at the end, when Sam replies with "yeah?", there's that brief pause, and then... "My name, is Optimus Prime", and you immediately feel like screaming HELL YES!!
I cannot even begin to imagine how original fans must’ve felt watching those 4 meteors hit the ground watching them gain their vehicle forms, with the last one being a blue and red truck. And then they all group up and the camera focus’s on the truck as one of the greatest hero’s of the 80’s appears. And in a voice you’d recognize anywhere, he introduces himself with “my name is optimus prime”, they brought the original voice actor back holy shit! All set to one of the finest pieces of music ever put in a movie.
Like I said in my own comment, this scene made me feel like I was 8 years old all over again, particularly with Peter Cullen returning to voice Optimus Prime.
I remember seeing this in IMAX when it came out and as most transformers fans like me, we were so excited. Especially when optimus prime had his own intro. We all cheered and went fuck yeah
1984: We're Autobots. We're from Cybertron, a planet far from here. 2007: My name is Optimus Prime. We are autonomous robotic organisms from the planet Cybertron.
Ironhide was killed by Sentinel Prime in the third, via Cosmic Rust. Cemetery Wind killed Ratchet with Swindle's help in the 4th (and passed him off to other humans as a "decepticon").
I always liked this scene because of how the music played. You just get this feeing that the being coming out of the pool has an alien feeling around him.
Tigran Tashchyan For me, the two things they got right were Optimus Prime and the music. I like both throughout the series. Can’t say the same about each film as a whole though, only this and Dark of the Moon I like.
Muchos dirán como te vas a emocionar con la escena de un camión. Es solo un camión. Noooooo, no es solo un camión, es un robot que se transforma en forma épica en un camión. No lo entenderían. Y además la música que hay detrás.
You can totally tell Steven Spielberg was more hands on with this movie than the other TF sequels that he executive produced. This feels more like a scene in one of his movies than a Michael Bay movie. The excitement, wonder, and awe are everywhere here, and I appreciate every second of it.
Saw this opening night in a sold out theater. This little boy yelled out at the top of his lungs “here they come!” when the fireballs first appeared and everyone just let loose with cheers.
Say what you will about the film series, but these scene, its just about holy. The music, the cinematography. The tease of each Autobot by the vehicle he chose. And Optimus Prime's reveal...
Fubuki Destroyer Gotta disagree, the first 3 are all solid movies. They're not creative in any way but they're not "bad" by any means. It's just simple dumb fun.
SUIT UP! then i gotta disagree with you too. i dont like simple dumb fun and popcorn movies so the only good transformers movies is the 1st one. 3 is only decent in my opinion
THE BEST SCENE EVER IN A TRANSFORMERS MOVIE. 3:08 The scene where Optimus comes through the smokes and ratchet's siren sound still gives me chill even till today. Goosebumps every time I see it
It’s extremely beautiful. Instead of being as loud and destructive as the decepticons, they, despite causing some noise when landing, choose to live in their disguises and travel in the shadows. They don’t choose to bring chaos and war, but to keep the decepticons from doing so. The best scene in any movie ever!
As music producer today i can say this scene is a pure majestic experience. Everything is so epic, and the music by Steve Jablonsky is just something that no one can reach. The sound design (heavy robots, mechanical stuff moving, cars, Peter Cullen as Optimus), everything is on the line, top of class for sure. Nostalgic af
It's actually something taken straight out of religion. Gods arriving to earth as globes of fire, thunder and dust clouds everywhere and hiding in plain sight and doing everything in complete secrecy...
@@meghanachauhan9380 no it ain’t, aliens arriving in asteroids and assembling for war isn’t your gods coming down in fireballs to live as humans. Asteroids or whatever their ships were just happen to also make a lot of dust
It was mind blowing. I was 14 when it came out, and I'd never been so awed by a movie. Avengers came close, years later, but it wasn't amazing like this was, as a cold turkey movie.
@@shwalkingmeme485 nah dawg. As fun as bumblebee was, it's much more enjoyable to get action with more than one character. If travis knight comes through with a cybertron based movie thatll be dope
As misguided as these films were, this scene is gorgeous. The music, the angelic choir, the sound of genuine, noble good coming to Earth, and that gentle scene with the kid. This scene is what the Autobots are.
The sequels were misguided. The first film is just a flat-out solid flick. Not spectacular, not a masterpiece, but still good. Well, not spectacular in terms of story and writing. The FX are beyond spectacular and are timelessly gorgeous.
Watched this in the theatres back in 2007 as a 21 year old, and the 2:09 the musical cue and Optimus rising out of the water made me feel like I was 5 again, staring in absolute awe. This scene alone was my childhood resurrected.
@@_214.matthew_3 Yes and no. Location was? Yes it was Ironhide. Design wise? They all look like Optimus. Probably budget and timing cuts. Instead of making cybertron designs for Jazz and Ironhide, they simply re-used Optimus.
I remember when I first heard there was going to be a live action adaptation of the beloved Transformers franchise. I remember thinking, yeah right. Never gonna happen. Then it was becoming a reality. I had no idea how they were going to look. I'll never forget seeing this scene for the first time, watching Optimus Prime transform right before my eyes. Literally never thought I'd see something that awesome ever. I kinda wish the rest of the movies had stayed the same, not trying to make Prime look so different. Still my favorite scene, from the best movie of the franchise
@@Alexander9924 As the movies went on, Prime became more and more violent to the point of being a Psychopath. No longer the brave and noble leader of the autobots.
@@dragoonunleashed9962 Yeah, i see that argument a lot. It could make sense, showing how as the war continued, he began to act not too different to Megatron. It has the potential to be a pretty unique spin on the character and showing how, deep down, Megs and Prime are a mirror of each other. My problem is that clearly the writers didn't though of that on purpose, as we seen Optimus behaving more violent and prompt to kill his enemies mercilessly literally by the second movie. It doesn't help he always pulls those grandiouse speeches that are nothing more than empty preaches to give the movie a fake sense of depth and importance.
They can say what they want about Michael Bay, but this sequence is wonderful. The visual handling, coupled with the Jablonsky soundtrack is masterful. 2:10 That moment still gives me the chills. Just BEAUTIFUL.
Fun Fact: The reason why Decepticons were so strong in this movie compared to Autobots, is because the Decepticons adapted the forms of military vehicles like tanks and jets. While the Autobots took on the forms of cars and trucks.
@@prosto-random a police car is still more powerful than a regular car. The engines are custom made to be faster, their doors and outer shell is more reinforced to tank collisons, and the front of barricades car form has an added spiked fender that's usually used for ramming or to pop tires during chases. So he wasn't an ordinary car, or even an ordinary police car.
Transformers 1 will always remains the best movie of the franchise. Thanks to Michael Bay as he focus more on story rather than on action and explosions.
To this day I still love this scene the most of every TF Film. It's just the way they arrive, how every Autobot chooses his vehicular form and then when Optimus first transforms. Just the sounds and visuals The metallic and mechanic rumbling of a thousand moving parts and the epic music. After 16 years this still leaves me breathless. And I am proud to call this my childhood
Just watched this film this morning and this scene is just magnificent. The soundtrack and seeing the autobot in the pool then hiding just shows how peaceful they are towards humans and quite careful. A deceptacon would have crushed them in an instance.
I remember watching this in the theatre as a 36 year old man in 2007, tears streaming down my face as one of my childhood heroes appeared through the mist, thinking to myself, “My God, that really IS Optimus Prime.”
Seeing this years later still makes me tear up a bit. The movieverse has not been the best but moments like this one where the score just gives you that grand scale feeling is just special. No words from our protagonists, just letting the score say it all.
@@mhm3766 Optimus got killed, betrayed by his master, had to kill his own planet for the safety of everyone, lost many friends during the war, hunted and he almost died again before Optimus said the "kill them all" line. You gotta think his mind started to break no?
2:30 Optimus Prime Epitomizes Lawful Good, a young human, a species that he has never met before, walks out alone, in the middle of the night to see him, and he keeps an eye on her till her parents come out... tell me he isn’t a paladin...
Trafalgar D. Water Law Look at the body difference. The one who crashed near Sam was bulkier and shorter than the one at the pool. That was Ironhide. The one at the pool was lankier and taller. Not to mention, why give Ironhide that entrance? The music changes specifically for that moment, to something awe-inspiring. That was, without a doubt, Optimus.
I am obsessed with transformers and they have optimus prime the perfect intro. Can’t get better than that. Michael bay knew what he was doing to let audiences know how big and epic this scene is
No he was an awful character, nearly all aspects of him were poorly written and caused me to go off the films he is in. Shia himself can be a decent actor (I.e fury) but this portrayal is beyond awful.
Cade rarely screams and when he does, its understandable. Afterall, having a giant robot transforming on top of you would be causing you to scream and falling off of a building would do that. Sam screamed for no reason half the time. Cade also takes everything in his stride and handles situations effectively while Sam screams 'Optimus!! Bumblebee!! Ironhide!!'
Recently, on the 10th of July, 2022, I got to experience this movie in the theater for the first time. I couldn't 15 years ago because I was just an infant, but nothing has filled me with as much joy as those movie speakers did when I heard Optimus Prime's voice boom across the chamber. Timeless film.
This is my favorite scene out of the entire movie. Just seeing the autobots come together and transform gives me nostalgia. Plus, Steve Jablonsky’s score is fantastic.
The bay franchise may not be the best but this scene is the epitome of everything he did right. The music, the CGI, Peter Cullen, the callback to barricade earlier in the film. This scene is perfect
One of the best Cinematic moments in movie history. This was made in 2006-2007 the computer graphics are amazing . Amazing instrumental piece too to compliment the scene
The one coming out of the pool is the fcking best one for me. The mechanical sound has always been a beautiful ASMR, years before I knew what an ASMR is.
The music score is amazing and really lets you know that this isn’t just a typical character into. It showed that this was HUGE. No solo intro of any character will ever top optimus prime. Hearing all the parts and gears. Especially the tires spin and lock up. Probably the most epic intro ever. I don’t care what anyone says. No intro of any character or characters will ever top this. I saw this in IMAX and every guy went hell yes and cheered when optimus prime was transforming.
The music accentuates the scenes so well. Especially when the one autobot is climbing out of the pool, hiding behind the trees - this is really beautiful! :)
I remember watching this in the theatre opening night with my dad. This scene right here was what made me fall in love with Transformers. It’s absolutely impossible for me to not get chills over this even after all these years.
It's just sad that aside from the main autobots (Optimus/Bumblebee), the rest are dead. But I agree that's it's really neat how each car represents the character of each Autobot.
No matter how many times I watch this scene, the amount of pure joy and excitement is insane. These movies will always hold a special place in my heart :)
I love how each vehicle form and landing reflects each autobots' personalities perfectly. Ratchet lands in a populated area and caused a ton of damage. He hides and makes sure he's not seen and carefully tries to make his way out, so he doesn't hurt anyone. He then sees the first responders and paramedics coming to help. Being a medical officer, he's found his perfect form, and scans the first ambulance he sees Jazz doesn't give a crap. He does flashy moves and and flips in style off the roof. He then turns to the car shop, and scans the flashiest most expensive car he sees. He WANTS to be seen and admired Ironhide has no shame. He allows the little girl to get a good clear look at him and carefully walks away, unconcerned his cover may be blown. Being a hardened veteran, he's dealt with much worse. He then scans the parents' GMC, a truck known for being powerful and masculine Optimus gets straight to business. He walks confidently to the highway and scans the very first car he sees, which coincidentally is a custom painted semi truck, which separates him from his subordinates as his form stands out the most, letting you know that one is the leader
+Orion Pax (megatroptimus) I like to think of it as "learning where all the parts should go to form what." in the initial transformation. After that they can do it much faster if need be.
I like to imagine it in a similar way to standing up. Sure, you could do it quickly if need be. But it would expend more energy. Having their entire bodies fold up and shift faster will surely do the same for them. But when you don't need to expend more energy, why bother? And the slow transformation looks dope as fuck.
Orion Pax they transform faster depending on what kind of scene it is. Like when Starscream flew down and transformed to fight Ironhide and Ratchet, his transformation only took like half a second
Summer 2007. I remember very reluctantly taking my seven year-old son to watch what I thought was going to be a load of childish crap and ended up leaving the cinema feeling gobsmacked and extremely satisfied with what I still deem to be one of the best action movies of this century. This is my favourite scene, as I love a stonking movie score combined with a director's ability to inspire awe in the audience. It made this, for me at least, the best scene since the one in Jurassic Park when the visitors first see the brachiosaurus...
I love the small detail of Optimus running away from what he thinks are innocent people and when he sees them with bumblebee he asks them if they’re who the autobots are looking for, meanwhile ironhide completely ignores the little girl who watched him crawl out of her pool, shows how two different characters handle things without a single line from either of them
