3:21 I’m sure we were all hoping for a lil 1v1 between Optimus and Soundwave. Soundwave looks like a serious threat to Optimus in this movie and I love it.
To be fair Soundwave and Shockwave (Which really shouldn't have appeared side by side for the first time with such similar names) are both just as Big as Optimus. Notice how Bumblebee is about half as tall as him? Being a Prime is what makes Optimus Strong but overall the Decepticons in this movie are consistently shown to be overwhelmingly larger. Makes sense why they had to flee, for the first time they managed to make decepticons feel like a credible threat through scale and numbers. You may have noticed Bee's fighting style relies on creative tactics and subterfuge because there's no way he could win in a frontal assault. All the Decepticons he dispatches fall due to trickery or inventive set ups. They did a spectacular job in this movie making the victories look hard fought and often times costly.
The CGI is amazing in this movie. The particle effects, the reflections on the robots themselves and the amount of details on them, and Cybertron looks amazing.
That was the same debate in the G1 cartoons people had. Was Ravage a canine or a feline? There were many instances in the series that it was alluded that he was Feline but there were others here he was portrayed as canine. Considering he is a Transformer, maybe he is meant to be both, changing to what is appropriate for the moment.
I usually hated the g1 design because I watch the Michael Bay version as a kid but now i love the g1 design because i already learned more about the transformers culture
@@schaikabir5994I think it's because transformers origin is comics and then animation. Also because it's the original one and that's why it's called the generation 1 or G1 for short. And from it, it made new generations that sometimes stick to this design but had different stories (or it's called transformers verse)
@@davudisbarkhanli549 Even though confession is that I did wanted to see Rise of the Beasts next for the Maximals next year in my unpopular opinion because Beast Wars was the only thing I liked about G1. Not trying to sound like a Geewunner or anything since for G1 I'm more of a Beast Wars fan but just saying and pointing out a few things lol.
@@davudisbarkhanli549Not everyone but I can understand why some people don’t like it. I grew up with Bay’s Transformer movies and Transformers Prime. Now I’m also getting into the G1 stuff and soon into the books for lore with different stories.
What amazes me the most is the Number of Decepticons Optimus killed after his companions abandoned the planet, I mean I know he is very strong but even then that was impressive, specially if you consider than Shockwave, Soundwave and Ravage (3 highly skilled Decepticon soldiers) were involved in that Fight
I’m more impressed that this was a last minute decision to add that has a lot more effort than people give credit for. For example, Shockwave has an Autobot insignia on his forearm (his good arm), which was pointed out to be a reference from when he was senator in the comics.
Is it strange tho? This brief sequence in the movie might have taken a big chunk out of the rest of the movies budget but guess what? It spawned whole lines and series of G1 bumblebee figures. These Designs sold like hot cakes. The optimus prime in this movie is IMO THE definitive live action Optimus Prime. it has everything (except maybe the grill on his abdomen but if you think about it it would've gotten in the way of torso mobility and crunches etc) The decepticons in this look better than they ever had. These Designs are an overdue breath of fresh air from the gray visual clutter of the Bayformers and they are actually more pleasant to look at. You can tell them apart from their paint scheme and actual design instead of just guessing who they are untill someone refers to them. Bayformers really poisoned peoples expectations for a transformers movie to the point nobody expected this movie to actually be good. A genuinely good movie with THE best designs. This small scene inclusion made Hasbro and Takara A LOT of money in toy sales
@@KneeCapHill I recently learned Travis Knight was the one who pitched Hasbro to have the G1 designs, and that now makes me question if this scene was actually rushed as claimed because Optimus Prime had his G1 design for the sneak peak at ComiCon, and it was that hologram scene in the woods. Probably the best support that it was all planned was Studio Series Movie Concept Megatron based on the existing model that would’ve been used for when he was frozen. And it has a LOT of detailing. I’m just upset the designs didn’t continue in Rise of the Beast. At least Prime still had the design. Only wished he had all his colors.
@@Wildstrike277 Rise of the beast fells like they went ba k to Bayverse and not in a good way. Ratchet got completely redesigned for no good reason and the beast part in it makes no sense to me
I grew up watching the bayverse movies and I love em to death but damn if it isnt nice having enough color and differences between the bots to know who everyone is, I hated how much gray there was
I grew up on Bayverse without ever knowing about the old shows but I love the retro feel Bumblebee had. I love both sides honestly but Bayverse has more nostalgia for me
Bayformers went overboard with visual clutter and bullshit magic transformations. All of the transformers in those movies look like they are made of alluminum sheets. They are metal origamis most of the time and don't have any actual presence. Their transformations often cheat geometry in obvious ways and on top of that they all look like a grey mess (with the exception of optimus and bublebee). Even the secondary autobots start to look the same after the second movie. They just started making ugglier and ugglier designs with muddled paintschemes and similar silhouettes. No joke. several back ground decepticons straight up get recycled in the sequels and are passed off as different decepticons. They just change their color and put them in the background to be cannon fodder for the battle scenes. No wonder people can't tell them apart, they literally use the same ones over and over
@@kaitlyndavis6074 Whatever, it's his fault for getting upset over Beast Wars characters being in the upcoming Rise of the Beasts movie anyway since we Beast Wars fans were happy that our favorite series was back when Kingdom arrived, you G1 purists wouldn't even know a good thing about Beast Wars if it punched you all in the face lmao.
It did not pause to reveal the CGI renders on Bumblebee or Optimus Prime. But the name of that extra is called Bee Vision: The Transformers Robots of Cybertron
it was fun while it lasted, travis knight did not return for rise of the beast so the new director made significant changes to their looks. i just wanted to see live action starscream and megatron more
Glad someone finally made a video like this but I have to point out that (although only shown in the background) Thrust and more importantly Thundercracker appear in this scene
Thundercracker is possibly the most underrated and underused character in Transformers. They should adapt the comic where he quits the Decepticons and settles down with a dog
@@michaelrussell3890reminds me of the one time in Devastation where you hunt him, beat him up, and then he just surrenders then does nothing for the entire game after
Why can't nobody come up with a G1 Megatron in some of these movies?! Its so frustrating to see everyone else except for the baddest of them all. A G1 Megatron better make some f#$%king bad-ass entrance in the next movie that involves some of these robots!!!
@@dropkick2224 okay I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt in the other comment with the whole “07 is better than this” but Dark of the Moon? Really? I mean, you’re free to like what you like and there’s nothing wrong with that, but in my opinion, this movie blows the entire bay verse out of the water on character design alone
@@ayasophia5125 Nah the bumblebee movie is stale garbage, not a MaStErPiECe, it’s stale uneventful garbage, I will never comprehend why you like that shlock so much. With their shitty blocky happy meal toys for designs.
@@therealjesus1317 no no here's the thing, he's good at action and action only. He was put in place as director who oversees writing, dialogue and the design choices and plot. He can't fucking handle that at all. Best he could do was do "b b b" big guns, boobs and, boom. Get him as producer and ur movie gon turn out amazing visual wise
Are You Fucking Kidding Me???!!!!! Why Are You Happy!!!!???? This Movie Sucks!!!!! And FYI Bay Is Still In The Picture. I Also Hate The Shitty G1 Designs :( . Also ARE YOU LADIESMAN217!!!!!!!????????
We're getting one next year's September, but 3D animated. Since ILM is in charge of the animation, the style will be more or less like what we're seeing in this video: Photorealistic animation. Which is exactly what I wanted! 😍😍😍
I downloaded and watched War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, as a movie. Absolutely fking awesome. Loved the tripticon part, optimus assuming leadership part, grimlock, metroplex and the final 1v1 part. What a journey!
@@TheStepmonkeynot to mention that no matter how much anyone thinks of their opinion on Bayverse designs, it did spawn one of the most iconic silhouettes for the Transformers, and even made Ironhide and Ratchet actually visually distinct Oh and as much as I hate it, TFP’s design philosophy did owe itself to Bayverse designs
1:58 notice Ironhides vehicle forms from different transformer universes: Cybertronian armor-his cybertron form Nissan vanette-idk where that’s from lol GMC from bayverse And African elephant from beast wars Such good call backs 🔥
Yea honestly, i like G1 Optimus than Bay’s Optimus. At lest Travis Knight still keeps the main designations from the old comic of Transformer. Look at Bay’s Transformer like the messy design
This is amazing. I wish they made a whole movie based on what happened on cybertron after the autobots left for earth. Basically just more cybertron fight scenes. Also why don’t Optimus and bumblebee have those CGI renders
They look all very good but I hoped Arcee but especially Starscream and Soundwave would have looked more like in Transformers Prime (like Shockwave) 🤔😕
nah, we got starscream which should be starscream, second person of Decepticons, air commander, victim of 4 million years of abuse, not a dorito who can't do anything
These designs look PERFECT none of the uncanny features the bay formers had, no weird facial hair or overly articulated lips and noses. Some of them have faces sure but they look way less creepy than the springlock abominations bay did. Transformers are meant to look like humanoid robots more than they do aliens. It's crazy how wheeljack design was completely derailed for Rise of the beasts (Which never do rise from what i could see) and went back to the ugly over designed Bayformers look with full complement of Faux reading glasses. Why? Why would a transformer have glasses? What's the point of making that design choice? They already fucked it all up again. The studio CANNOT get out of it's own way.
can we all agree that they need to stop putting humans in these films and just make them fully CGI, centered around the robots and cybertron? like if I wanted a movie about humans set on earth I would have chosen literally any other franchise, I’m here for the giant transforming alien space robots not humans again.
@@dropkick2224 I respectfully disagree. The character designs for the Transformers movies are a thousand times better, they don’t look like a bunch of overdesigned messes of grey shards and over-exposed innards, not to mention you can actually tell where everything is in every fight, as opposed to even the 07 movie where most of them blended in when they got closer together. This movie also has better writing and dialogue, and doesn’t rely on ‘edgy’ juvenile humor in order to get a laugh. (Ratchet sniffing pheromones, sextant jokes, Megan Fox reclined across Bee’s car, Masturbation joke that goes on for way longer than it has any right to, and that’s just the first movie.). Its also a lot more character focused, and explores the bonds between the humans and Bumblebee, as well as showcases the cunning that Decepticons are known for, as opposed to the 07 which is way too heavily geared towards Sam, with most of his ‘interactions’ with Bee being through jokes, and/or Sam not knowing Bee was alive. In fact the entire attitude towards the Cybertronians in 07 is to treat them as just ‘big blasty blowy-up beasts who’s personalities amount to a few jokes and quirks’(power line scene and Optimus whining about needing to be quiet) while the humans are mostly just quirks, save for 1 or 2. Not to mention keeping the main crux of the actions focused on the transformers, rather than trying to make this about how much better the US military is than Transformers. This movie isn’t perfect by any means, but it comes far closer to capturing the original mythos and grandeur of the franchise that’s lasted over several series and several fantastic comic books, than that overrated popcorn flick (for the record, there’s nothing wrong with liking the original one, nor is there anything wrong with liking popcorn flicks. But the Transformers history and mythos deserves a lot more passion and respect than *just* being a simple popcorn flick.) Edit: Wow I did not realize how long that got. Apologies for wall of text
You know. In the filmmakers eyes, it’s too big of a financial gamble to even DARE make a transformers film that’s just THIS. Depite. The Entire. Fansbase. Asking. For it!
If they made a full G1-style movie with just the robots on Cybertron, it would be a massive worldwide hit. What a silly idea to get the fans the wrong way. All you have to do is adapt and modernize what worked and integrate new features from the entire transformers universe on an initial basis respecting the G1. We just need talented, intelligent and respectful people. For instance, they could respect Wheeljack design, integrate some elements of the soundtrack. A movie focussed on the real constructicons with Desvastator and Omega Supreme would be so great and successful!
