All the transformers g1 1980s toy commercials from 1984-1986 from the comic/season 1 1984 toy commercials to the movie/season 3 1986 toy commercials. Hope you enjoy. The commercials are in order.
This commercial straight up spoils it. Couldn't they have worded it like, "Is this the end of the story? Will the autobots rise triumphant?" Nah, they just had to state Optimus' mortality.
Some Hasbro executive: "Yes, because nobody cares about stupid old Optimus Prime! Right? Here comes Rodimus Prime!" *one movie release and many, many kids' tears later* "Um....look, Optimus is back! .... As a zombie!.....Please buy Rodimus Prime." *tears intensify* "Alright, alright, Optimus is back. Jeez."
At first I didn't like Transformers the Movie because Prime died. But my friends and cousins convinced me to like it because of the music and animation, and I did like Hot Rod. I had the Hot Rod and Ultra Magnus toys. I also traded some of my toys from G1 Optimus Prime. Years later I also rediscovered Robotech under the original Macross and the latest Macross Animated Movie, and then revisted Transformers Animated Movie. Macross had a mature storyline about war, and death, and victory over evil thru sacrifice. Now I appreciate Optimus Primes sacrifice so much more
These commercials are why Transformers were cooler than Gobots back in the day. Because they were cooler commercials. The advertising was on point. I'll never forget that kid that says "Robots in Disguise!" in a robot voice, and the hammer stamping the logo. Such memories.
And because of the toys too. Gobots were cheaper and weren’t as high as quality as Transformers from what I’ve heard. And that the actual cartoon wasn’t as good as Transformers.
I grew up watching the Transformers since 1984, and the theme song gets stuck in my head every day and every night, I even have the theme in my ringtone for my phone. And it's still popular to most kids and adults everywhere.
I wonder how many kids in the 80s heard “Does Prime die?” and went “nah, he’s the hero and the main leader of the Autobots they wouldn’t kill him.” only for Prime to, in fact, die.
Except for the 1986 movie. Cliffjumper survived the movie. The problem was that Casey Kasem had an issue with the Karbomiya storyline, and he quit the show.
5:48 Galvatron originally used to have the iconic Frank Weller voice actor, but the movie decided "no." I mean, the brave voice before the voice of madness made sense. I'm unsure what would the movie would've been like if Galvatron's voice is voiced by Frank Weller.
I thought that Frank just filled in for Nemoy in those commercials and that Nemoy was always intended to voice Galvatron in the movie. And Frank voiced Galvatron full time in the cartoon due to Nemoy being a pricey celebrity.
Just seeing this made me think how come when Michael bey did these badd ass movies he didn't include the decepticons durge ram jet thrust astro train & keep Megatron his original appearance a luger pistol & the autobots prime his original appearance bumblebee his vw Volkswagen etc such childhood memories thanks for sharing
I had Prime, only one kid had Megatron..he got it from Japan. Megatron was banned in Australia cos he turned into a gun that looked very real. Every kid wanted to go to this kids house after school
1:31 the Autobots created jet fire? If I remember wasn't he a part in Decepticons and starscream's friends but then switch side after learning that the Decepticons are evil or was this commercial made before jet fire made his debut in the show?
Wow, as a lifelong G1 collector, I cringe when I see how rough these kids are with their Transformers in these commercials. Even when I was a kid, I took better care of my G1 Transformers than these kids did in these commercials..
Your acting like it's going to be superb everything Nickelodeon touches nowadays turns to shit remember that Monsters vs Aliens series they did a decade ago
