Yeah, it's something the producers actually confirmed. The reason he can speak English is because, even though he was frozen, he would periodically slip into and out of stasis lock, so he was able to pick up the language, and furthermore, heard the names they were calling him.....NBE-1, Iceman, Megaman.....Things like that. And Megatron *hated* it that they were calling him these, in his mind, derogatory and demeaning names, so the first thing he did was to inform them that, no....His name was not NBE-1.....It wasn't Iceman, and it sure wasn't Megaman! It was Megatron!
Can't argue with that because when Capt. Witwicky found him he Accidentally Activated his navigation system like Optimus said to Sam And burnt the Location of the Allspark on his glasses which Made Him CONSCIOUS all those years Ago but with him still Completely frozen in Ice he couldn't moved so When he was Transported to the Dam He was already CONSCIOUS That Time and Can All here those Humans keep on Calling Him NBE 1 Which was Not his name so I'm thinking when he was freed He just wanted to correct them for saying his true name. Cause it Clearly Annoys Him After all Those Years Trap in the ice and force himself to Listen to those humans Calling Him MBE 1 which if it where me on Megatron's Position I'll be Annoyed so I can't blame him for Screaming His Name but it's a hood thing he didn't Repeated that in 2 and 3 however He did Say the Name I am Galvatron In Age Of Extinction
@@coldwater9540 I like to imagine he was awake and aware that entire time and that was the reason he started off with his name before brutally killing everyone. Of course, the reason he starts off brutally killing everyone could be that he is Megatron.
@@disneyknightspadilla1406 , The Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Megatron figure did have a feature where you pull down the switch on his torso and he says "I am Megatron!" while his eyes and chest glow red and some parts move like his head, the armor pieces on his chest, and the gears inside his body.🔴
When you're a giant killer robot and there's badass music playing as you wake up from a coma, you do, in fact, say your name in the deepest darkest voice possible.
In the comic book adaptation (and the novel if I'm not mistaken), once Megatron was thawed out, he shouted "You hold me no more, insects! I know what you've done with me! You used me to advance your science only to have your pitiful technology destroy your planet and each other!" And just before mercilessly incinerating a scientist who just happened to be right in front of him, Megatron shouts: "YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF LIFE!" If only the writers could have fit those lines in the movie (I know, limited screen time), it would have made this scene even MORE awesome!
pikppa Right after Megatron rips Jazz's spark out in front of Optimus. Funny how novel adaptations based on these movies are often written a thousand times better, Revenge of the Fallen being a perfect example.
pikppa Another perfect example; the ending used for that novel would have paved way a LOT better for Age of Extinction. All that would have been needed would be to remove Galvatron from the story and put more focus on the "Creators" (Not sure if it would have improved the movie or not).
He has been trapped hundreds of years from unknown planet, He is being surrounded by tiny ailens. but he doesn't care about it and he said "I am Megatron" and that is all need to know
First form: alien space fighter Second form: alien tank Third form: Earth truck Fourth form: Earth truck (built by KSI) Fifth form: Alien space fighter (reformatted by Quintessa)
Well in Marvel movies Scandinavian demi-Gods from another galaxy speak perfect modern English even when they're on their home planet. If they would make everything realistic we would have to listen to gibberish and read the subtitles every time we see a fantastic being on the screen and that's boring and exhausting, so I'm okay with them speaking English.
It wasn't a million years ago, it was a few hundred years ago. Remember the Fallen and the Dynasty of Primes were the first Transformers to arrive on Earth during Ancient Egypt .
Hes frozen..not necessarily asleep his functions are just incredibly limited so he could have picked up up during all the years they worked on him since he may not be entirely unconscious. I mean he was able to manipulate the human into building him a new body while he was just a head in the 4th one so this doesn't seem like as big of a stretch.
It's standards in the TF Universe. You have to introduce Megatron in every TF show/movie you create with him shouting his name...absolutely true, look it up!
TheBombayMasterTony well when the leader of the Decepticons is about to destroy all those who stand in his way, he wants them to know just who it is that will do it.
I wouldn't say so, the CG in ROTF is terrible but in DOTM and AOE it's amazing, pretty much best CGI I've ever seen in my life, the textures, the lighting, it's like the transformers are really there.
Are you kidding me. The transformation of the KSI creations in AOE sucked nard. A bunch of pixels swirling around. At least the Autobots continued their same transformation sequence but the KSI 'bots turned into swirling pixels. One second its a robot. Then a swirling mass of pixels and then a vehicle. Garbage
John A. well I'm talking about the quality of CGI, not about their design decisions. The robots themselves look damn real. KSI transformation suck, though.
+DieWilWheatonDie. Oh yes. The graphics are great in the last installment no doubt there. But Guhh. The transformations of those manmade copies was garbage. First time I saw the movie I was like really?? Like Nintendo 64 level graphics as far as transformation. One minute it's a car. Then a blur of pixels swirling in the air and then boom its a giant robot. I get it. It would be difficult for humans to recreate the complex movements and gears shifting around that happens in normal transformation. But. Damn. Come on. Really??
Now before you ask, yes he learned earth languages, yes he heard them called NBE-1. He was in a Cryo-Stasis, not dead. Think like a coma for transformers, if a cybertronian looses too much Energon, damaged severely in battle or exposed to extreme cold the go to stasis. When Megatron woke up, he wants to remind them on who he is and what is his name. In war for cybertron he made it clear after his spark was exposed to Dark Energon *"I AM THE DENOMINATOR, I AM THE DESTROYER, I AM MEGATRON!"*
I think Bay was mainly focused on the CGI in the first movie- he wanted it to look good- nothing else mattered. But I'm not upset, every TF film he's done looks great- the plots might be stupid and certain characters might not get all the screen time they deserve or that fans would like, but the main thing is that it looks good- and that's what sells.
Finally, someone who understands the purpose of Bay's Transformers, Everyone else complains for the plot even though we all know it's a action packed robot fest.......that I love :D
I pretty much remember feeling a shit load of suspense of the thought of Megatron waking up from cryostasis, this scene alone made my fears a reality, wish we had this Megatron in the future movies
I don't know if there is an official version...But in my opinion,Megatron said his name because he got fed up of being called "Ice Man" "NBE-1" and such...Because Megatron actually sees everything, even dead(not in this case) but he is not asleep at all...So,he got pissed off of being called by those names and said so...And of course because of his narcissism as well...I bet that if Optimus got frozen and got called weird names he would just say his name peacefully...
Crazy how this megatron was able to give Optimus a good besting first movie and couldn’t even handle a 1v3 or a handicap Optimus in 2nd and 3rd. I really hated that
They called him MB8 I think? He was probably sick and tired of that shit after so many years so when he was finally able to move he corrected them, and killed all of them!
+kembo white Well....in various tie-in sources, like comic books and short stories that cover the events leading up to the first movie, it is revealed that even though Megatron was in cryostasis, he was still partially conscious and aware of what was going on around him! He was very annoyed about being called N.B.E.1 and Ice Man, especially seeing as it was a life form he considered to be a lesser life form that was calling him that, and so his first act upon awakening, besides killing many of those lesser life forms, was to coldly inform them that, no, his name wasn't N.B.E.1, and it wasn't Ice Man either! It was Megatron!
The reason Megatron said his name is because he wants to be feared, I mean look at him hes like a Gladiator, which makes sense becuase he trains in a Gladiator arena on cybertron called the Pit in the Decepticon capital of cybertron, Kaon.
0:09 I remember watching this for the first time in cinema and holy fuck I've never been blown away by such a short line from a movie in my entire life.
+DieWilWheatonDie. I do get that and believe that. I know they couldn't sacrifice the transformation sequences of Optimus and Lockdown as they were the main protagonist and antagonist (respectively). And the rest of what you said makes sense what with their budget being what it was and not wanting to sacrifice the story development. And it makes sense that as KSI clones or copies, they were exactly that. I do however like the transformation sequence for Optimus. Especially when he gets his new Alt form and changes from rusty beat up flatnose (throwback to G1) into the newer upgrade. At first I thought I preferred his Peterbilt mode seen in the first 3. But this new form started to grow on me
Megatron believes himself an all-powerful god capable and deserving of ruling the entire universe with a clenched fist down on all who oppose him. Megatron, once Megatronus, is a gladiator and has limited political knowledge of how a real empire should be run for it to prosper. So convinced that he is the rightful ruler of all beings, Megatron is the Transformers embodiment of nercissism. Now rebuilt as Galvatron, he makes the same narcissistic comment when he takes over KSI's drone army. However, despite all of his psychological shortcomings, Megatron is dedicated to the survival of his race and planet so long as his place as ruler is not questioned.
Exactly lol. one of the first times in a movie i was rooting for the bad guy lol. I thought it was a beautiful way to introduce himself especially since Megatron and the other autobots got to get introduced in a cool way as well.
